We will be picking up a rental car at MCO on our first trip to WDW. We were wondering where is the best (CHEAP) grocery store to pick up breakfast stuff , snacks, and water before we head to our resort.

as you take that highway from airport to disney their is a big exit for a road called ORANGE________. Can't remember the 2nd word, maybe its "Blossom". Anyway, at this exit there's lots of retail.. Grocery store (Alberts) Dollar Tree (great for souvineers, snacks) and we love the Ruby Tuesdays salad buffet restaurant. Also there is a discount Liquor store there and a Home Depot.:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I haven't tried it in Orlando yet, but I think Winn Dixie should have pretty low prices. I used to shop there when I lived in Raleigh. I think you can get their discount card online.

I would have to say the Walmart SuperCenter on Osceola Parkway was the cheapest. We went to Publix first and thought it was pretty high priced so,we found the Walmart.

Thanks for all the replies!
Amanda is Osceola Parkway close to WDW? Could you give me an idea of where it is? Thanks!

Osceola Parkway takes directly onto Disney Property. I can`t find my map at the moment but i am thinking it runs parallel with 192 but it`s north of it.

I am really bad with directions (dh handles that, lol) But,you can always pick the walmart that looks closest to the route you need to take from the airport and plug in the address on the Yahoo maps which is here.

But it looks to me like the one on Osceola Parkway would be the closest,12 miles from the airport and once your done you just turn right, out of the parking lot on Osceola and in a few minutes your on disney property!

An easy one to get to is the new Winn Dixie on Vineland Apopka road which is also 535 or 536 (always get the numbers mixed up).To get there drive past downtown disney and the road will curve to the right and turn into Hotel Plaza Blvd. Follow this to the first 4 lane road intersection. You will be at a traffic light and see a sign across the street and to your left that says Crossings. Do not continue into the Crossings shopping center but make a left and follow Vineland road for about 1/2 to 1 mile and you will see the winn Dixie on your right.

I live here and I say Wal Mart is your best bet for cheapest. The one located on the Osceola Pkwy is much less crowded than the one on 192 or even Sand Lake Rd.

I personally shop at Publix but about once a month I venture to Wal Mart. It's not a quick place to shop and thats why I don't go more often. I was actually just there today. Granola bars that I normally buy for $1.79 a box are $1.50 a box at Wal Mart. Frozen Lean Cuisine dinners that I normally but for $2.79 are $2.39. Publix brand bread is $.89 a loaf and Wal Mart brand bread is $.69 a loaf. Just a few examples.

... they had someone price-shop at all of the major grocers en-route or near to WDW.

Wal-Mart is certainly cheaper, and Publix is probably second-best, but I find that both of them are somewhat time-consuming options. I'd rather spend an extra $10-15 and not have to waste an extra 40 minutes or more getting to Publix, or in the case of WallyWorld, more time waiting in long lines. I don't want to spend any more of my precious vacation time than I absolutely have to on the chore of grocery shopping.

My choice? I go with the SuperTarget on Orange Blossom Trail on the way in from the airport. One-stop shopping right en route, and they never seem to have long lines. I also bring coupons from my bin at home, if I'm buying name-brand convenience foods, (which is most of what I buy in Orlando, except for milk, soft drinks and fresh fruit.)

SuperTarget--now you're talking! Can't stand WalMart, but SuperT sounds great. I LOVE my SuperT here; go with the coupons and their markdowns are a godsend.

If we're driving in from out-of-state do we just use the same directions? Not too sure where the airport's located in terms of that. Thanks!
:D
