Before vacation I'd like to try something to get my legs brown. I've tried Jergens and Malibu tan and wasn't crazy about the streakiness or orange color. I see there are quite a lot of brands to choose from so I'd like some suggestions! I figured I'd be better off with the gradual tanners since there is more room for error.

I love and use St. Tropez its a foam and you apply with a mitt. Sold at Ulta, but I purchase it from QVC. It has great reviews and is easy to use.

I also agree the St. Topez. My dd burns so easy but likes color on vacation and wearing shorts. This was the best I have found. I don't recall if it came off or ran in the hottub, but it didn't in the salt water pool or ocean. It isn't orange, works fast but it natural. There is a glove to put it on with.

How often do you use the Fake Bake or St Tropez? Do you have to scrub off before applying again? I want more of an everyday tan not just a one time thing for special occasions?

I'm really pasty and have tried lots of self tanners. Just tried Loreal spray tan that I bought at Walmart. DH had to spray it on me but it dries instantly and looks the best on me out of the other products (less orange). You use it for a few days and then just once weekly.

You can probably get away with putting it on once a week and still have a bit of color at the end of week. I would use a scrub in between applications and moisturize in between as well. Hope that helps :-)

I just do it the natural way, I go outside for a few minutes each day with no lotion on.

I wonder if it's harder to get good results with "older lady" skin? I used to be able to use the sunless tanners but now with drier skin and sunspots, it never appears even or natural looking!

I sometimes wonder which is worse, cancer from the sun or cancer from all these chemical lotions we are putting on our skin!

the sun is great for you in moderation . It helps your body make vitamin D and its recommended that you get 30 minutes of sun a day.

I go out early in the morning without lotion and later in the day. So before 9am most days and after 5pm. And trust me I've had sun poisoning on my nose twice in my life due to not applying enough during the day when I've gone to Florida or Bermuda.

My mom and Aunt use Tan Towels. I have used them before as well. They take a little practice to get even, but do not turn you orange and don't look gross in the creases of your elbows, knees, etc. I think they get them from HSN.
