Best Front Load HE Washer for the money?

Another questions about front loading machines...

Our "laundry room" is very small -- I want to get a set that can handle a king size comforter - would a 3.4 cu ft washer do that or do I need to go bigger?

Also, can you explain the benefit of the steam figure on the higher end models? I'm trying to figure out if it's worth the added cost to get that feature -- I do pretty basic laundering.

Thanks!

I have a 3.5 cuft. front loader. I can wash twin/full comforters but not my queen one. So, no for the king comforter I would think...

we bought the LG 4.0 cu ft front load washer ( WM0642HW) and the LG 7.0 cu ft front load dryer (DLE0442W). I don't know how I have lived without them this long....I LOVE LOVE LOVE this set !! ( and we actually saw a decrease in our water bill this past month). Both the washer and dryer are huge. I've washed quilts / comforters / large loads ...all with ease. :lovestruc
it's super quiet....you don't know the dryer is going unless you are actually watching it spin !! And I'm probably crazy, but my DH and I both swear that everything is cleaner looking and brighter. ( and for some reason, the sheets/ clothes / etc hold the smell of the detergent / fabric softener. everything smells SOOOO Good !!:banana: I would highly recommend this set !! Good luck ! Does anyone have a topload with no agitator?? Just wondering how those compare to the front load.

I am not sure what an agitator is but if it is the barrel thing in the middle (i am soooo advanced in this area, can you tell?! :rotfl:) then that is what my parents have and they love it. It is a really nice washer. It works very similar to my front load.

Sears Black Friday ad has some really great deals on washer/dryer pairs - both front and top load. Hope you can wait till then!

I have the Fisher and Paykel AquaSmart top load - no agitator - you can either wash "traditionally" or HE. There is a soak option.

I'm very happy with it. The only thing it doesn't have I would like is a quick wash option.

I have had a Kenmore He 3t for about 7 years. We bought them when the front loaders first became available. Do not buy one. We had several service calls when under warranty and since the warranty has been over we have many problems. Right now one of the protruding parts in the drum (1 of 3 that stick out to help clothes move around) has broken off, can't use it. A service call and repair will be about 700 dollars. DH just found last night a part that might work and he will try to fix it. 2. On all but one cycle, I get hot water even when choosing cold, and the builder to my house did not put in seperate turn off valves for H/C water, just one. 3. Small holes in our clothes periodically. My husband never believed me that the washer was doing this, after reading reviews this week, he now believes me.

Mold issue-leave door open and use only He powder, run vinegar through periodically. I used liquid for a while and it stunk. DH needed to take drum apart and found a child's sock down in the drain area. He found instr on website on how to do it.

If he can't fix it, I will be looking for a new one, so thanks for this thread, it looks like it will be the Samsung. Only good thing is I am off laundry duty, my wonderful Mother has been doing it.
