Best Epcot Attractions for a 3 yr old?

Which Epcot attractions have you had the best success with for your toddlers?

My niece freaked out when we tried to go into the Living Seas for Crush show (she dislikes dark indoor places like aquariums) and also at the Living with the Land in Dec, but I'm hoping she'll be better this year.

I think the Lion King Show is in AK not Epcot.

When we went to Epcot in December my DD was 2.5. she enjoyed the following:

Character Connection: We went here first thing and were the second in line to see 6 different characters!

Figment

Turtle Talk with Crush and the Nemo area of Living with the Seas

Boat ride in Mexico

Decorating a mask and getting stamps in different countries.

Our son was not 3 yet last year when we went and he went on nearly every ride/attraction he was tall enough for including Maelstrom and Pirates. The only thing that scared him a little was the dinosaur scene in Universe of Energy.

Best places for toddlers at Epcot include Journey into Imagination, and the Imagination Station play area after the ride, the garden maze in the UK, Innoventions, and the toy train near Germany.

Definitely agree with Rio del Tiempo in Mexico and Kidcot stops. DD was 3.5 yrs and we managed to spend almost an entire day in Epcot just because she was so excited to color her mask and get it stamped.

Maelstrom might be a little scary because it's in the dark, but our DD loved Test Track at that age.

I think the Viking play ship in Norway is open again -- she's about the right age for it. Mission Space has a nice playground area inside where she can play if you're waiting for anyone else to come off the ride. Innoventions has some fun things that a three-year old could enjoy, and she should like the doll-makers shop in Germany. And if you're not afraid of a sugar high, let her try all of the different soft drinks!

The Movie is called "Circle of Life" and has been there for years. The entrance is in The Land, upper level, to the right as you enter from outside.

It's a story in which Simba teaches Pumba and Timon about how to treat the land well or what the consequences are. Age 3 might get restless at times. Perfect for the impressionable ages - 5 to 10 or so... and a good lesson for Adults... Simba is more entertaining than Al Gore!

Where is the character connection in Epcot? This is our 2nd family trip down and we didn't spend a lot of time in Epcot last year. Is there a set schedule of characters or does it rotate? Thanks!!!

Not neccesarily an attraction but your child might enjoy the characters on holiday when they come around on the double decker bus to get pictures and autographs.

I agree with the Circle of life show and Journey into your imagination. Turtle talk with Crush would be another one but since that building is a no no we'll skip that.

I would also visit the kidcot funstops. Might also enjoy some of the live entertainment on the world showcase side...watching the fountain show, illuminations, etc.

There is no double decker bus any longer at Epcot. It was replaced by the Character Connection which is a room full of characters.

When we went last year, my son was 3. Here were his favorites:
- Soarin'
- Figment ride
- the sounds on the floor outside the figment ride
- meeting characters
- mexico ride
- norway ride
- playing in innoventions
- spaceship earth
- living with the land
- the train set in germany
- watching the mariachi band in mexico

My kids love the Mexico ride. It's a mini "It's a small World"

Where's this new Character Connection? We loved the double decker bus.

In March our daughter way three (almost four - turned 4 in May) and I think her favorite ride was Soarin' - not scary at all, but the feeling of, well, soaring, was quite fun for her. I think there is a 40 inch height limit on that, though.

She also loved Spaceship Earth.

As for the character connection, everytime we went or walked by, it was usually some selection of Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto, Chip and Dale. One time we walked by an Alice was there, though. We got to Epcot at opening and walked up to where they have the rope - once they dropped the rope, people ran to Soarin, Mission Space, Test Track - we walked in alone to the Character Connection and had the place to ourselves for a while. We were the first family of the day and got a certificate signed by each character.

So, if cheracters are important, getting to the character connection at rope drop is the best way to do it IMHO.

If they're tall enough... TEST TRACK!
It's my 3 1/2 year old's FAVORITE ride at EPCOT.

He also enjoys... Imagination, Crush at Living Seas, The Land boat ride, Energy (dinosaurs), and the 2 boat rides in Mexico and Norway.

What frequently freaked out my two kids when they were toddlers were the loud sounds associated with each show/attraction. During our last trip, I got my son some ear plugs (the kind that slip around your neck; I found them in a sporting goods store in the gun ear protection department), and that muted a lot of the noise to the point where he could enjoy the attractions.

There's not many attractions at EPCOT that are NOT in the dark at least part of the time.

The films at China, Canada, and France are about the only things I can think of that either aren't in the dark or don't have an element of surprise/noise to them.

We took DS to Figment at 3 1/2 and he despised it, especially the skunk smell. He has a real thing about odors. Now, at 5 and planning another trip, he is rather adamant about skipping that ride (he calls it the 'skunk') and 'Honey I Shrunk the Audience'. The giant snake terrified him.

He did love the characters, especially the princesses. He loved getting kisses.

One other thought about being afraid of the dark rides . . . When we took DD3 on her first trip, the first ride we took her on was Pooh, thinking that it would be the least scary ride to start with, but she freaked out about being in the dark, not about the ride. We immediately went across to Tinkerbell's Treasures and bought her a light-up Cinderella's castle and she took it on every single ride for the rest of the trip and we didn't have any more problems. It was small enough and not so bright that she could hold it down on her lap and not disturb the other riders, and we even told her she could use it like a laser to "zap" anything scary that she saw. We did Pirates, Snow White, all the indoor rides after that with no problems.

Don't know if it will work for you, but it might be worth a try!
