Best DSLR Lens to bring to Disney?

I'm planning on bringing my Canon Rebel to Disney with us in July, but I'm puzzling over which lens to bring. I'm ok with buying a new lens as long as it's in the $200 or less range. This is what I have so far:

-18-55mm IS Lens - kit lens - which is actually broke and I really need to send it out for repairs before we go.
-50mm 1.8
-75-300mm zoom

I think I need more of a zoom than the kit lens or the 50mm, but I hate to bring my 75-300 b/c it's SO heavy and I don't know if I will need that much of a zoom.

Any recommendations?

I would say it would depend on what images you plan to capture. If you're wanting mostly just pics of your DC with characters and family members, I would say you would be okay with the lens kit. If you're planning on taking pics of the fireworks and things like that, I would go with the 75/300. I am taking both lenses for our trip in December. I want to get lots of pics of all the Christmas decorations.

I also have a 28-250 that I just love. It is made by Tamron and much lighter than the comparable 75-300 that you have. I use it for all-purpose shooting. It does not have an IS, so if you do a lot of low light shooting or super zoom, it will be missing that component, but it also eats a lot less battery than the comparable IS lens.

It is my 2nd Tamron and I've been very happy with them!

Canon has a 18-200 lens, but I think it is about $500. I just got a Canon 17-85 IS for our upcoming August trip and love it so far -- perfect range, in my opinion, and better build quality than the 18-55 kit lens. However, it was just under $400.

Canon also has a 55-250 IS, which I also recently picked up. It runs about $250 on Amazon. Haven't taken a ton of pics with it yet, but the ones I have taken are very good. It got great reviews on dpreview and fredmiranda.

Finally, if you decide to go with your 18-55 kit lens, see what it will cost for repair. You can pick up a new one for around $120, which may be cheaper than repairing your existing lens.

My plan is to take the 17-85 every day, and maybe throw the 50 f1.8 in the bag as well as it is small, light, and cheap. I'll leave the 55-250 in the room and bring it out at night or for a second day at a park if I see some shots that I will want it for on our first day at a park. Hope this helps!

So glad I saw this thread. I would love to get a new lens for my camera so these are some great options to research.
