Best day to fly?

Thank you for the help everyone gave me when I was deciding about our split stay holiday for August 2013. We have decided we will go for two weeks and stay on IDrive for 5 nights then have 9 nights at YC.
We really want to book YC asap to make sure we get the free ddp. Booking through Disney.co.uk, 2 adults 9 nights with tickets is £2590 (This is the best price I have found).
My question is in relation to which dates to actually book. We want to go around the last 2 weeks of August, I work in a school so need to be back for 2nd September. We are thinking of going either Wednesday 14th, Thursday 15th or Friday 16th. Is there a day that is usually cheaper to fly, is there a premium to pay for flying on a Friday? If we go Wednesday presumably we'll have a couple of extra days where USA students are still on their holidays. Plus, when you look at package holidays, there are no flights left from Manchester with Virgin on the Thursday, so should we avoid the Thursday?
Sorry I'm rambling, I'm just a bit confused and indecisive but really want to book.
Thank you

We have always found Wednesday the cheapest, and Friday, Saturday and Sunday the most expensive.

In fact, for us to do 10 days, it cost around £2k more than for us to do 14!

We prefer to fly Thursdays due to DW working Mon, Tues & Weds. but this July we got reward seats flying on the wednesday so means DW taking an extra day off work(3 weeks & 1 day)
Over all the trips we have done we have always managed to find Thursday or Friday flights, just twice we have saved going on a wednesday.

We are getting close to booking for a trip May 2013 and my husband was getting info from someone at Virgin. He was very helpful and advised us to ring in a few weeks for flights. DH asked him which are the cheapest days to fly and he said undoubtably Tue/Wed/Thur. Weekends are higher and are counted as Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon (if only the rest of the world agreed with that!), however he said Mon may not be quite as bad as the other 3.

Hope that helps, although others will have different experiences on here in reality.

Virgin holidays used to charge a weekend supplement, probably still do.
Not the case with flight only, if they are not selling Friday flights they will be cheaper than other days or often they are same price the whole week. Friday/Sat are often more expensive because they sell faster but there are no set rules.

Thank you for your replies. I'm so indecisive! Think we'll avoid the Thursday, guess its a popular day next August seen as Virgin package holidays are no longer available from Manchester on 15th. So now it's between Wednesday and Friday. Booking through Disney the YC is £50 more with our 9 nights finishing there on Wednesday than the Friday. Decisions decisions!
