We are splitting our October 2004 trip between SSR & BCV. We arrive at SSr on Thursday and want to move to BCV either Sunday or Monday. What day is historically the best day to check into a DVC resort?

Thanks for any help you can give

Sunday seems to be a BIG check out day at OKW anyway! We used to always arrive on Sunday, and it seemed that a lot of folks were leaving that day. The only problem with arriving on Sunday is that you might have to wait a bit for the room to be ready. Other than that, there should be great choices!

Does anyone think checking in on a Thursday would just give you whatever is left over? We plan to check in on a Thursday at VWL in a one bedroom for 2 nights and then hopefully have a lockoff studio attached so we don't have to move for the next 5 nights. What does anyone think the chances of getting a "good" room that we don't have to move from is?

I forgot to mention this will happen the first week of December next year!

We no longer check in on Sunday, since airfare is cheaper from here mid-week. We have been checking in on Wednesdays lately with no real problems. It doesn't seem to be a busy day at the front desk.

My response to that question would be to ask your criteria for determining the "best" day? If it's the amount of time waiting in line, then personally I think you'd be making a mistake trying to tweak your travel plans to reduce your wait time. It's not like you're going to wait 2 hours to check-in at any given time. Unless someone has different experiences than I've had, we're talking about a difference of 30 minutes from the slowest day to the busiest day.

I also have to believe that WDW knows which days are busy and which days are slow, and will staff the front desk accordingly.

I have checked in on Sunday, friday, thusrday and saturday and have never had any wait time. I usually arrive around noon and always check in with no waiting on any day. Than I come back at 4pm and they just give me the room# or you can call for your room #..........

Sunday has to be the worse day to check in by far--a great deal of members stay 5 days because of the points situation and of course Sunday is the only day to check in to do that.

I agree 100% and Fri mornings are the busiest to check out since many members check out on Fri to avoid weekend pts.

I think that was my original turn off to the All Stars before I became DVC. The lobby was set up with an "attraction line" that snaked back and forth. Almost 2 hours to check-in. I have never waited more than 20 minutes (and usually walked right up) at DVC resorts.

We always check in on a Thursday or Friday - never had any problems with long lines, nor have we had a problem with check out on a Thursday or Friday. I don't think a long line would bother us anyway - just glad to be at WDW:teeth:

I have never had a problem with a long line at check out on a Fri(always do express check out) but have found luggage services and valet services to be backed up,so therefore take longer on Fridays due to the large amount of check outs that day.
