We are at beginning of month-Going with my MiL and SiL (they haven't been since ?1989? 1990?) my oldest birthday is October 5th, we will be there October 7-11. Quick trip but Food and Wine, and 2 Halloween parties to choose from. Think the "wine" part sold them on the trip

Ah ok, have a great time! I've been there around that time before and I really loved the low crowds plus food & wine, what more could you ask for?

I have absolutely no idea what his means, but the fact that the satchel now holds a crown makes this 10X funnier

Haha you remember in Tangled when Flynn Rider stole the crown which later Rapunzel hid from him in order for him to take her to see the lanterns?
Well you can see the "crown" he stole. I will have to remember ask to "peek inside his satchel" next time.

It is literally the best dessert on property, IMO. I think it just has all my favorite flavors, and it's rare to find anything with tapioca these days, so when I see it on a menu I jump on it.

Very cool that you had your DIS-celeb moment!! I've seen a few other trip reporters have them and it's pretty neat. The only one I've had was actually a Disney CM that wasn't necessarily a regular follower, but had read my cruise TR and really appreciated it, as she wanted to take her toddler on one.

Before I head into the next installment I just wanted to share this picture of DH's Living With The Land - inspired hydroponic garden he created in our basement. Unfortunately he is not skilled enough to grow something in the shape of a Mickey head but he's working on that, LOL. I think most of what you see here are some different breeds of Romaine lettuce. They taste great, and best of all, no dirt! I told you, he takes his gardening very seriously! #farmersteve​

May 6th Part 3 - Mission: Solo

After we took the Express Bus over from MK to Epcot, we headed to the F & G Festival Center. It was right before it closed but we just wanted to walk around and pick up some material to see what seminars they were offering for the next day. DH made some notes on what he wanted to see the next morning before we had to head back home.

The center was the same set up they had the year before. I of course headed over to the merchandise but I had already picked up the T-shirt for DH and the tank for me so I really didn't need to get anything else.

Steve picked a couple of brochures that interested him and we set back out. We had an FP+ for Spaceship Earth so we boarded our time travel capsule...only to realize our screen wasn't working, so we had no future, LOL. Well, I did want to get a nap in anyways...

We didn't have much of a plan after our failed time travel expedition so we just went right to Mission: Space. If I had known Universe of Energy was closing so soon I would have probably hopped on but considering I haven't been on that ride for 12 years, and probably would have waited another 12 before I go on it again, it is probably never going to happen. Haha. I do have one day on August 12, the day before both Universe of Energy and Great Movie ride closes so I might be able to ride them. Might. Everyone will probably have the same idea as me haha. Although if I had a choice I'd probably choose TGMR over Universe of Energy.

We rode Mission Space: Green with barely a wait and then as we were exited DH decided to play that video game. It's a group game and there never really seems to be more people playing it but they were just starting up a round so DH went in. I told him I'll just meet up with him later as I wanted to get some coffee and walk around. I also grabbed my beloved popcorn bucket. I sat and watched the game for a few minutes then made a few videos to send to the nieces and nephew back home.

Cos life on Mars can be a little routine...

I headed out of Mission Space on my own Solo mission...coffee! I remembered seeing the Joffrey's cart back towards Festival Headquarters and went and got myself an iced latte.

Hey, I never really realized these square hedges before...you see a new thing on every visit!

There was some aerial art that pretty much summed up my feeling at that moment. #happy
Not a cloud in the sky. What a gorgeous day!

I decided to head over to the Imagination pavilion. I hadn't done Figment in a while, so that was what I did. There was a 5 minute wait. It was perfect! On the way I snapped these pictures. Words cannot describe how beautiful it was at that moment, that time before the sun was to make it's final descent.

Hey, ya know, being solo for a bit was really fun. I intend to do that on every trip! I could take my time and just chill and soak in the moment of being at Disney, my favorite place in the world.

I realized the Disney Visa meet n greet was right outside Figment so I decided to go in, not knowing how long the wait was. I was the 2nd person on line, and for a little while I was the only one on line. I waited 10 minutes and then was asked to go in...I wondered who I'd see...

My favorites, Pluto and Minnie! I just love them so much. When it was time to pose for the picture, Minnie and Pluto each took one of my hands and placed it in theirs, like we were best friends. This has never happened to me before. Maybe it's because I was solo, but whatever the reason, this gesture really touched me.

I said my goodbyes to my besties, and headed outside. I sat outside the Imagination Pavilion just enjoying the cool breezes and lovely views. I decided to snap a picture of this moment:

Because everyone, I was having the BEST. DAY. EVER.

I just sat on a bench, ate popcorn, and reveled in all the good things that happened that day so far. The amazing weather, the delicious food, the character meets (especially Gaston's indifference), the surprise Dismeet (hi Amber and Jess!) and being best buds with Minnie and Pluto. Granted, the weather accounted for 75% of the best-ness, LOL. But, it was only when I took a moment to just take it all in, and realized I didn't have any ADRs to race to, or make it somewhere before our FP+ window expired, or get in line a half hour before a character meet...and just could enjoy myself by doing absolutely nothing...that was when I realized how wonderful it was just to be in Disney World, at my favorite park, at this moment of my BEST DAY EVER!

But the Best Day Ever is not the most perfect day...if only our Spaceship Earth screen was working, hahaha.

And the day wasn't even over yet...

I think although all of the Disney planning is fun and necessary, sometimes we can get focused too much on what's coming next. What a great reminder to take a step back and just enjoy it!

OMG I totally feel you on that "Best Day Ever" feeling! The last time we were in Disney, there were several times when Lumar and I just literally wandered around with no where to be, or just found a spot to sit down and literally JUST SIT. We get so caught up in the ADRs and the FPs, the fireworks and the park hopping...Before you know it, you're going back home and wondering where your vacation went. I'm telling you, one of my favorite things about our last trip was going back to AKL in the middle of the day, sitting on the balcony, and just watching over the savanna. My heart just felt so happy in those moments.

Ya know, I've been anxiously awaiting what this infamous "BEST DAY EVER" could be and what all it would entail. You absolutely nailed this. This is why this place is so special to us all. #FarmerSteve would so get along with #FarmerJason. A few years ago he did the same thing in our basement, but grew basil instead of lettuce. This year he built not 1, not 2, but 3 separate garden boxes out in the backyard and we now have enough zucchini, cucumbers and lettuce to last us a lifetime.

We didn't have much of a plan after our failed time travel expedition so we just went right to Mission: Space. Steve's hydroponic garden looks fantastic! Really impressive. One of my favorite things about summer is home grown tomatoes.

That photo with Minnie and Pluto is absolutely adorable! I can see why that may be one of your favorites.

I love spending a little solo time in Disney, even if it's just going for an early morning walk through the resort before everyone else is ready. I'm glad you were able to carve out a little time to enjoy yourself. It looks like you had one of those moments where you feel that life doesn't get much better than that.

Thanks everyone for the feedback on my Best Day Ever! Replies are coming soon! I actually kinda struggled to write that post initially, because I kept thinking, what if it was a complete let down? I've hyped up this day so much and after I revealed it I realized nothing really major happened. It is, for me, definitely about taking a step back and enjoying the moment. Once I got to writing it though, I definitely got to re-live the "feels" of that day and it just came pouring out. Whew! I'm glad I got the post out but it wasn't without some hesitation at first!

May 6th Part 4: Tonight will be a night long remembered...

After my Best Day Ever revelation I met up with DH over at The Land. I told him how I was having the Best Day Ever!!
He's like, "But you say that every day when you're at Disney".
I mean, that's true, but today, today I really meant it!

We went on Living with the Land because there was no wait....this ride is the inspiration for DH's little basement garden.
Now we only need...a moat and a boat!

Maybe if we get a bigger house...and a bigger basement, we can attempt the Mickey Head, LOL.

The sun was getting ready to set so we decided to head to World Showcase to get some food from the kiosks for dinner. Today was one of the last weekends for Wishes and we were initially going to head to MK to watch it again but after hearing news about the insane crowd levels we decided watching it once on this trip was good enough. We would probably never have been able to see it from as good a spot anyways if we went that night, so farewell forever Wishes!

Instead we decided to watch my personal favorite...Illuminations!

Bur first, some food.

We caught this PP Picture as we walked over to WS:​

We headed to one of the first kiosks we saw, La Isla Fresca. We got two items from there:

Jamaican-braised Beef with Pigeon Pea Rice and Micro Cilantro
Sugar Cane Shrimp Skewer with Steamed Rice and Coconut Lime Sauce

The beef was not bad, not like the best beef ever but pretty decent. The shrimp on the other hand...OMG I don't know what kind of crack sauce they put on it but it was utterly delicious. (@ariane37 I know your Steve agrees!). The shrimp were better than the ones at 'Ohana and the sauce had sort of a Thai-style coconut and lemongrass type sauce which was just perfect. It wasn't spicy, but was extremely flavorful, I loved this!

Just delicious, this was my FAVORITE thing I ate at F & G! You don't really need the rice, but since I love my carbs I ate it anyways, and it tasted good with the crack sauce.

Aside from the rice and peas I couldn't tell if the beef was Jamaican, haha. It was ok, had nice seasoning but I am not sure it's a cut of beef I usually like. Steve ate most of this while devoured the shrimp.

We continued walking around, it was getting darker at this point. But it was beautiful.

I got a drink from Lotus House. I think it was the Kung Fu Punch that had Mango, Vodka and Triplesec. It was actually too sweet for me. Next time I would try something else. I wanted some candied strawberries, but they ran out.

It then dawned on me that a little over a week ago I had heard that they started doing Lotus Magic Shots at China, so we scurried over there, expecting a huge line, just like the Tangled Magic Shot in MK. To my utter surprise we came across a lone PP Photographer. He was holding the lotus in his hand. I wasn't sure if he was waiting for someone or something. I looked around for a line. There was none.

I asked him, "Are you taking Lotus pictures?"
And he said, "Yes I am, step right up!"

This day just gets better and better...

Our photographer also spent a lot of time with us make sure we were posed correctly. He even had me fix my Mickey necklace so that the Mickey head was perfectly centered. Still so surprised there was no line but I guess people didn't really know about it! After we did our shots though we saw other people interested and a line was beginning to form. Maybe we were just early enough to catch him before the line!

We walked around and decided to stake a spot out for Illuminations, however, it was so empty that a great view can be had from almost anywhere. Finally we settled near Germany because we got a seat at a picnic bench which some others had kindly shared with us, and the view from here looked like it would be pretty great.

While DH sat down I went to get more food.

From Germany: Currywurst, one of my favorite things at the festival:

And this potato pancake:

The currywurst was great but the potato pancake not so much. There were too many flavors in it. I couldn't really see/taste any potato either! It was just a lot of ham and onions with a creamy dressing, which is ok if you like a lot of ham, onions and sour cream.

That's ok because I also got this giant German pretzel and a beer for DH. Not sure which beer since I didn't drink it but the pretzel was nice and soft and chewy.

So with all that food (and my trusty popcorn bucket). we sat and ate and soon Illuminations started.

And I was in love with the show all over again. I hadn't seen it for maybe 6 months, but it wasn't with this great of a view (and we had seats!).
This is the show that brings on pangs of nostalgia when I watch it, more so than Wishes. During the years when I really got into going to Disney World, probably college and post-college years, I always wanted to go to Epcot because I was a big geek. I always ended the night by walking through World Showcase and watched Tapestry of Nations (or whatever was the previous iteration of Illuminations) and then after 1999, it was Illuminations. The music is just so good, so dramatic, so familiar, and the fireworks - they are so close to you, it's pretty neat.

It really was a perfect way to end my Best Day Ever.

If they ever get rid of Illuminations I'm going to riot. Who's with me? #solidarity

We caught some of the SW fireworks too! The Boardwalk rocks, as we were back in our room barely 20 minutes after Illuminations ended.

That, folks, is the end of my BEST DAY EVER! I hope you enjoyed this post even though it may not be what you were expecting. I really had fun writing this post (after I got over the writer's block) and sharing what I felt at that moment. I've had many trips filled with many good things at Disney but this day was just super special. As @kastoney said, it's not like I met a celebrity, or went to some special event, or won the lottery (but if I did you'd know because I'd be moving into Golden Oaks and throwing the biggest party at WDW and you're all invited. HAHAHAHA) it was about having a moment to reflect and take it all in in the happiest place on earth.

OK now back to our regularly scheduled - ADR and FP+ packed programming!

Coming up tomorrow...not the Best Day Ever, but a pretty damn good day (aside from the fact we were leaving).
