Best CS Resort Restaurant

Thinking about doing some resort hopping the day before Valentine's Day. Which resort would be the best to go to if we wanted to eat at a CS restaurant while there? We love AKL but don't love the Mara. Any neat resorts to stroll around that have good CS? (BTW, we will be eating at Kona Cafe that night.)

Since you don't like the Mara, I would try Roaring Fork Snacks, the CS restaurant at Wilderness Lodge. They have soups and many varieties of sandwiches. As a suggestion, if I don't want to eat in the park, I eat at the closest restaurant to the park that I am going to visit after I have finished my meal. You may want to plan your schedule in this way. Artist's Palette CS at Saratoga Springs is also tasty, however they also mostly have sandwiches. What type of CS food are you looking for?

Captain Cook's at the Pollynesian by faaaar is the best CS at a resort Not the usual fare, but some tasty polynesian twists on classic items... the pulled pork Hawaiian sandwich is amazing

We will not be going to the parks. We just want to maybe walk around looking at some of the resorts. Since I will be using off-site shuttle transportation though, they need to be resorts that are easy to get to. Some resorts I haven't explored are GF, Contemporary, BC, YC, BW, and OKW. I

I thought about that, but the problem is we will be eating at Kona Cafe that evening. I think I will want something a little different.

Our favorite CS for lunch (& dinner) is Pepper Market at Coronado Springs. We think it is definitely a step above all of the others for quality & food offerings. We are surprised that it is not considered table service. We are hooked on the nachos - they are sooo good. They have other good Mexican food in addition to many other stations, such as, ribs, pasta station, philly steak & rueben station, chicken, salads, Chef's daily special - sometimes stir fry, & burgers/fries. For dessert there is a good size bakery selection & ice cream bar. There is also a bar for alcoholic drinks.

If dining-in, not carryout, at the podium one is taken to a table & drinks are ordered from the server. A 10% tip is auto added to bill at the cashier checkout when leaving. If on DDP, the tip is supposed to be left on the table.

After ordering drinks, go to the various stations, watch what is coming out of each, make choice, take to table. After eating entree, can go back to stations & decide on dessert.

There is a 'card ordering' system. At the podium each person is given an ordering card. As you order your food at the various stations, the card is stamped with the food purchase. The cashier uses this card to add up the charges.

If you could please perhaps be more specific on your food likes and dislikes....? It will be easier to help with more information.

Captain Cooks is my favorite. The sushi is really good, sandwhich/burgers are nice, and they have dole whips for dessert

I am going to second the previous poster's vote for Pepper Market. It's good, and there are lots of choices.

The CS at the Contemporary has made to order food that's pretty tasty...usual fare...burgers, etc, but it's made to order via a touch screen system and it's relatively fresh.

Port Orleans Riverside is great but not just for the food. Getting there is half the fun. Take the boat from Downtown Disney. It's a relaxing 30 minute ride up Disney Worlds longest boat served river. The only stop along the way is at Port Orleans French Quarter just before reaching Riverside. The scenery is relaxing as its just river and no buildings along the way.

The food court at POR is excellent. We love the made to order pasta bar. You select the type of pasta, meats, sauce etc. Large portions so you won't go hungry. There are other stations with similar great eats.

Gratuity was removed several years ago from the DDP at least on the standard TS DDP. Not sure about the DLX or Premium.

The Market at Coronado Springs charges a tip fee at their CS. Great food but the only Disney CS to have partial table service and thus charge a madatory tip. However, on DDP we were not charged for such.

Thanks, everyone, for your suggestions! You've definitely made me think about trying some new places. But for this trip I think we've decided to eat at Whispering Canyon Cafe for lunch. I know it's not CS, but my DH loves it, and we love exploring the Wilderness Lodge. What I did was move my Kona dinner reservation back to later in the week, and after eating at WCC, we are going to go over to DTD and try Earl of Sandwich. I've heard so much about that place, and want to try it. Also since we are on a TIGHT budget for this trip, you can't beat an All You Can Eat Skillet at WCC for $18.99 (+ 10% off DVC discount) and a sandwich at EoS for $5.99 (+ a 15% off AAA discount).


One day, I definitely want to try the Pepper Market since I think Coronado Springs looks absolutely beautiful and would love exploring the resort. It's good to hear they have a great CS. I would also like to take the boat ride to Riverside. That was the first resort we stayed at and would love to go back just to walk around some. The boat ride sounds great, too! On our next family trip, I so want to stay at Wilderness Lodge, so I may have to make a trip over to Captain Cook's just to get some sushi and a Dole Whip!
