Best Counter Service Meals???

So we didn't plan far enough ahead and have no ADRs, and I don't think I have it in me to make continuous phone calls checking for cancellations for the small handfull that I do want. I'll know better for next time!

We're in the same boat, couldn't finalize plans for trip until about 3 months out. With the DDP going on TS ADR's are a pita.

We do b'fast every day and a late lunch or early dinner. We had no problems getting into any TS for b'fast, got all our choices. Have you tried b'fast adr's?

Are there any Counter Service Restaurants that have really good menus? Or is there anyplace that has one great dish that we shouldn't pass up? I'm sure everyone has an opinion and I'd love to hear them!

You've had some good suggestions so far.........
You didn't mention when you're going, where you're staying, do you have a car, any kids (ages), etc..

AK-----
Flame Tree - one of my favorites, excellent bbq.

EPCOT-----
Eating bratwurst with a Becks in the courtyard at Germany is actually one of my favorite meals at WDW.

I can almost make a meal out of funnel cake, hehe.

Liberty Inn - Haven't eaten there in quite a few years, standard American CS fare.

R&C bar - Fish & chips or roast beef sandwich.

From Epcot walk/boat to BW-----
ESPN - does not take adr's, see how crowded it is.

Big River Grille - does not take adr's or ddp from wdw reservations. We called the restaurant directly last week and got a reservation for Sun 11-25 @5pm!!
They have a very diverse menu, brew their own beer, authentic bbq, never had a bad meal there. Found phone number from google: 407-560-0253.

From Epcot walk/boat to Y&B Club - Beaches & Cream, stay away from prime lunch/dinner hours. One of the best burgers on property.

From Epcot - Have you tried adr's for any Swan / Dolphin restaurants?

MK-----
Casey's Corner, as others mentioned.

Peco's Bills - I like a sloppy burger, load it up at the fixin's bar.

Do you like turkey legs?

From MK - Monorail to Poly, Captain Cooks. Haven't eaten there since the recent refurb. My brother said the pork sandwich was very good.

MGM-----
Rosie's All American Cafe - Hey, it's CS, what do you expect, ok burgers, chicken...
Starring Rolls - Decent sandwiches after 11:30

We called for adr's once every 1 or 2 days (didn't go nuts calling several times a day) around 5 - 7pm last week. We got adr at 50's Prime Time for 2:30 on 11-29 and Marrakesh at 4pm on 11-30. ADR's do open up, give it a try and be as flexible as possible. Ask about different restaurants for same time frame, not just 1 you have your mind set on. Good luck.

Captain Cooks at the Poly was a really pleasant surprise on our Sept trip. It's all been redone and you order yourself using a touch screen. Plus the boat ride from MK is so relaxing.

dsneygirl, we are planning on going over to the Poly via monorail our first night and thought we would try Capt Cook's. What did you eat and did you like it?

I sort of prefer CS as I can get as little as I want and eat when I want.

We will see Wishes and the EWP afterward for one of my favorite nights at DW.

Thanks, Slightly Goofy

I am repeating what many others here have said .... we love Flame Tree BBQ and eat there on every trip! (They have wonderful seating behind the restaurant and down by the water .. it is so peaceful!). I also love Earl of Sandwich in DTD.

JenLynn, that is our favorite place to eat at AK as well. I do not think many know about the seating hidden behind all the vegetation and so they pass it on by. I loved the fruit and yogurt plate they had in September and plan to doing that again.

Also there is a character boat that comes by and you are entertained by the screams from EE. There is an alligator down by the water too so it sort of keeps the birds from bothering you or your food too.

bumping
found this in my search for the best counter service meals
thanks for all the great info!

There are some Counter Service spots with great menus!

-Tangierine Cafe (Morroco/EPCOT) The lamb & chicken Shawarma Platter is delish!
-Wolfgang Puck Express (DTD) has a fantastic menu!
-The Pepper Market (CSR) Has a great selection! Everything from Mexican to Asian to Prime Rib with a horseradish drizzle!

You can check out the menus from all Disney dining spots on allears.net. :upsidedow

YOU know what you're talking about -- I second what she said! Anyone on the Dining plan? This is the best value of your Quick Service Credits!

We love Flame Tree BBQ in Animal Kingdom - we eat there every time we go.
Columbia Harbour House in MK is great.
In Epcot, the Cantina San Angel is good, also fish and chips in UK.

The Plaza Restaurant in MK is TS, but you can often get a table. I also agree with others who said to call for lunch or dinner at Kona Cafe - it's really good and often has openings.

I like the CS in Japan - we get our food at the counter and go sit outside.

The crepes at a booth in France in Epcot are also tasty.

You can try checking with guest relations when you get to the park to see what table service openings they have for that day. We did that two years ago on our first trip (before I discovered DIS) and it worked out pretty well. If you don't mind eating at 4 or 5 you should be able to get something.
