Best Character

Also, The Green Army Men were good. they ran around the park and pretended like they were secret agents.

I love the army men! On my last trip, they insisted on separate pictures with the boys and the girls, and threw a fit over the boys not saluting, and wouldn't let anyone take pictures until they did. They were perfect gentlemen for us ladies.

My absolute favorites have always been the brers, though. During one of my trips as a kid, Brer Fox stood on my foot and used my head as a desk to sign his autograph, and shoved the book into my chest when he was finished. I had no idea what to make of it then, but looking back I always laugh!

THIS kind of response makes me soooo happy to revisit Disney as an adult! :goodvibes

As a kid it's great (and I have to admit, I was 15 the first time I went!), but as an adult it's just priceless to interact with these characters! There are things that go waaay over kids' heads, and now I get to take a look at these characters in a whole new light!

This is a great thread, I'm sitting here in my office and smiling at some of these character interactions - I never realized as a teenager, but this is the very best part of Disney!!! :lovestruc

We met a perfect Jasmine and Aladdin in 2006 I think. She was so pretty and the banter between them wonderful. Someone had brought scented markers for their autographs which made for some funny conversation- had to be there. That Jasmine made lipstick prints on DD's book which DD was over the moon about (her favorite princess)! Other DD was so tickled when Santa Goofy tried to give her a present off his sleigh.

Last trip crowds were low and the characters had time to spare. DD7 spent a LONG time with Pooh, Tigger, and Eeyore in the toy shop. When we arrived, the Photopass was in the midst of listing his favorite Pooh characters, IN ORDER. He had listed quite a few, and still no mention of Tigger! You could see the utter despair Tigger felt, down on his knees, pounding the floor, arm over his eyes...

Mulan also approached us after the standard picture and autograph were done, to see if the girls wanted warrior lessons. That was cool.

Talking trash can in AK is #1 since he knew my kids' names and had a conversation with then in front of a whole group of other kids and adults. #2 was Hook while on the cruise ship (same trip). He tried to kidnap my DD5 (at the time) and pretend to toss her over the rail. She was thrilled and still brings it up.

When visiting in 2000, my sister and I were on a quest to get as many signatures and photos that we could. Our hubbys were golfing and we were both childless at the time.

We were having our "lunch" of Mickey Bars around the entrance to American Adventure and saw Peter Pan and Wendy strolling around so we headed over. Two guests got to Peter before we did so we had a nice chat with Wendy as we waited our turn. Didn't mean to evesdrop, but I realized that Peter was speaking Japanese to the guests!! WOW!! They were obviously VERY excited because their English was a bit limited. The conversation went on for at least 5 minutes. When it was our turn I made a comment to Peter about how impressed I was with his language skills and, keeping in total character he replied, "Ah shucks, I HAD to learn it ... Tokyo Disney, you know!!"

Now we have had many, many, many wonderful and fun interactions with just about every character in the World but I have to say, Peter impressed me the most!

AWESOME!! What a cool guy!

We had some great interaction at Chef Mickey's last May. Donald was hilarious, and he and Minnie got into it. So cute!

I'm uploading those clips to YouTube now, so I'll come back and post when they're live.

I'm going to have to say Darth Vader - I wasn't expecting it but he was great!

Last November we had so many great character interactions!

Goofy: We had just gotten off of splash mountain and we got in line to meet Goofy. We used clipboards and paper for the character autographs and when we got up there Goofy took our clipboards (at the time Santa Clause is Comin' to Town was playing). So he went around the line and left us at the front and came back and he had a bunch of check marks on the paper and wrote Goofy's check list.

Lilo and Stitch: We were at Animal Kingdom. Lilo was signing my friend's while Stitch was signing mine. And my friend and I were both celebrating our birthdays, so Lilo was taking her time and writing Happy Birthday to her and Stitch was done and waiting for her. Well Stitch was getting testy and started smacking the pen on the clipboard. Lilo did not like that so she was taking longer. So Stitch decided to pretend to write on her face, and Lilo did the same thing right back to Stitch, Stitch did not like that and he started growling at Lilo. So my friend had to split the two up.

Finally at 1900 character dinner the characters were priceless...First Lady Tremaine can and she was quite snippy... There was a bigger piece of paper on the beneath all the other paper and she asked why that paper was not for her. And my dad responded back to her that the big piece of paper was for Cinderella, she gave him a very dirty look. Then came Anastasia. She came up to us and asked us how old we were and my friend told her 15, and she told her wrong, you never tell your age. Then she asked if we had met our Prince Charming yet and we told her no, and she said that we were her competition. We took pictures with her and she wanted to see the picture after and I showed it to her and she said to me "I look really good don't I". Before Drizzela came to our table, Anastasia and Drizzela had a little fight because this kid drew a picture for Drizzela and not for Anatasia and she found out and got mad. Anatasia told the kid that he/she should draw a picture of a frog for Drizzela because that is what she looks like. The kids at the next table agreed, so Drizzela skipped their table, but later went back to them. Out of all the character meals that we have attended, this one by far had the best characters.

My 4 year old's favorite was Pluto. He thought it was hilarious how he put the autograph book on his nose to sign and just loved his silliness.

The rest of us would probably choose the Stepsister and Stepmother. We saw them at 1900 Park Fare last year and they were so funny. We even stopped in when we saw them in the MK just to listen and watch. We talked about them more than any other character after coming home. Again this past trip 2 weeks ago the Tremaine family was our favorite. My 6 yr old dd was dressed as Cinderella and when we walked up they all made a huge deal about how she was dressed as a maid and asked her if she wanted to come work for them. Druzilla made a big deal over my 9 yr old ds. Asking him if her was eligible and if he was rich! She tried to kiss him on the cheek in the picture which of course he's so embarrassed about LOL! :lmao: They are our can't miss characters for our trips!

OK, here's the "fight" right before Donald came to our table:

And here's a teeny bit of our interaction:

The kids just loved him, and we still tease my niece about her high-five.

we had some great luck with belle she was so sweet to DD. At epcot when she was with the beast. She had the blue dress on and her and beast tried to wrap DD in it and take her with them. DD keeps saying belle wanted to take me home. Another belle was super sweet in toontown, she sat with DD for a while and talked and hugged her.

We also had alot of fun with goofy at epcot. Dh is 6'5 so goofy was gesturing about how tall he was. He shook DH's hand and pretended that DH hurt him i had to kiss it to make it feel better for him.

My youngest daughter is in the autism spectrum and was 7 years old at the time. She is verbal and and loves characters, so before we left for Disney I had printed off a bunch of autograph pages with the characters names and cartoon pictures to help her remember who she was looking for.

So many of the characters made such a fuss over these pictures - they really seemed to enjoy the fact that we had these. This was especially true of less familiar characters such as the stepsisters, princes, and other friends of main characters. When we got to where King Louie was meeting children at AK, his handler told us that King Louie will pose for pictures, but he can not sign autographs. I think it is probably difficult for him to sign because he can't really move his fingers the way some other characters can.

My daughter was so excited to see him, she ran up to him and gave him a big hug and said, "Look King Louie I have your picture!" as she showed him the autograph picture page she had. I reminded her that King Louie wouldn't be able to sign the page, and then I stepped back to take her picture.

Louie signaled for me to stop and then tried to get the handler's attention. She did not know what he wanted, so when she came closer, he pantomimed signing the page. She said "It's ok Louie I already told them you don't sign." He kept signaling to her and then began pointing to our marker and then at his fingers. He did this several times and she said "Do you want to sign?" and he shook his head yes! She took the cap off and put the marker between his fingers like he way showing her, and sure enough he signed it for us!

I don't know if he realized my daughter has special needs, if it was because she had shown him his picture, or if he just wanted to sign because she seemed to love him so much, but he really made our day.

Genie was absolutely hilarious with my daughter last year at MGM Art Studio. When she lined up to take a photo he started doing the bump with her and she was so embarrassed. The he started messing with Jafar and Hook when they were passing by. The crowd was cracking up.
Malificient is another one that is really good, she has such an attitude when you take your pic with her. She glares at little kids, and she doesn't break character ever. It 's so funny cause the kids are like...is she for real?

We had an awesome interaction with Peter Pan in a parade in 2008. It was my daughter's 7th B-day and she had been to the BBB and was wearing her Tinkerbell dress. We were watching the parade and she was on my husband's shoulders. When Peter's float came by he made a fuss over my daughter...laughing and pointing...he kept peeking in the lantern he was holding and scolding my daughter to get back in the lantern.

Last year at MNSSHP my husband who is 6'3" was dressed up like a Viking. He got loads of attention from the characters. He even had to stop to pose for pictures with other guests many times during the party!

I really liked the Mad Hatter at the 1900 Park Fare breakfast.

I didn't like Alice (at same meal). She was trying to be engaging, asking questions but looking around. I think the lack of concentration/eye contact made her seem "off".

LOL, I met Jasmine in Morocco about 6 years ago. She had a slight NY accent, LOL. But, she was very engaging, getting down to my son's level to sign the autograph and ask him questions. Poor Jasmine, he was too young to even understand one of his movie "heros" came to life in front of him! She worked hard, but he just stayed quiet and a little uninterested.

our favorites are Drizella and Anastasia. but i will admit that we like a particular one of each. we adore this Anastasia--she is hilarious!

and this Drizella has made such an impression on my DD. DD was CRUSHED to find out that she is no longer greeting as Drizella. (we even carried this picture with us in hopes that she'd sign it). she is now a dancer in the parade and DD insisted that we watch every parade to try to spot her. we finally found her on our last night there. i'm sure people in the crowd thought we were crazy yelling for the "purple dancer." i don't know why she isn't greeting. she is WONDERFUL!

We did the Family Magic Tour when DS was four...he's eleven now...and Peter Pan and Wendy were awesome and went thru the park with us and on Peter Pan's Flight. DS found the hook and that is one of my favorite Disney memories

We've had so many great character interactions but there are two that stand out most to me.

First was when DS was 6 and we met Chip and Dale for the first time. DS was soooo excited he was jumping up and down. So of course Chip and Dale had to join in the fun and started jumping up and down and playing around with him. It was so wonderful to watch the three of them having so much fun together.

The second was when we had breakfast at Chef Mickey's and Goofy spotted DH wearing a golf hat. Goofy started showing DH his golf swing and DH had to show him his. It was cute and funny at the same time.

And of course the step-sisters and step-mother at 1900 Park Fare are always wonderful.

Fairestoneofall, I thought you would be glad to know that friend of Drizella's is meeting again! We make a point to see her every year and she was there this past November. I even proposed to her! She's amazing, easily the best character performer. I think her not doing meet and greets has to do with the casting changes entertainment does every once in awhile. They might have changed her to full time CADCT/ Trolley Show making her unable to do meet and greeets. However I believe she is back to Drizella all the time now, most of the videos I've seen for the past few months of the day time parade feature her as Drizella.

thank you! she returned as Drizella in October. this past Thanksgiving, my sister actually took the picture of her with DD and she personally signed it and kissed it. :thumbsup2 DD has it framed on her dresser. the video is on youtube ("Drizella personally autographs...").

i had actually written a letter to Disney about her after our June trip. we had to cancel our January trip, but are planning one for December. i'm hoping she's still out as Drizella.
