I thought I would ask, what character did you meet in the parks and was surprised about how good they were at their character? This may not be your favorite character, just a character that did the best job of any character you met.

For me, it was Queen of Hearts. I met her at the Halloween Party Sept 07 , and while I am not a big character fan and can't recall much about that movie, I was so impressed by her acting abilities. She did the best job anyone I have ever met of any character. I was also dressed as a bad queen, and by the time she was done with me, she had me admiting she was the true queen.

On the flip side, I think the worst one I met was a Capt Jack when they were doing meet and greets at the same party(if I recall correctly) while he may have looked the part, he certainly didnt act the part. I was very excited to meet him and when i did I was so let down, even my husband commented on his lack of character ability. I almost didn;t go to see anymore(like when we went to the pirate party) However, I was convinced by hubby to try again, and the next time I met capt jack, he was more himself

My experience is from DLParis, but hopefully you don't mind me posting here...

Three times now I've met Donald there, and everythime he has been SO funny, and cute, and spent so much time with us!! He wasn't anywhere near my favourites list - but I love him now!!

During dinner in Cafe Mickey (same as chef mickey but not buffet) last summer as I was checking in for our reservation he ran over to me, took my hand and sat me down, then gave me loads of kisses and spent about 5 minutes rubbing his duck bottom on me, all the kids in the restaurant were in hysterics! It wa awesome!

My trip in January we were at a character meal and he came over to find out how we were liking our meal, I said it was lovey and he signed to me that he'd cooked it! So I said it was wonderful and then 'whispered' to my fiance:

"So that's why there's no duck on the menu!"

Donald started shaking and crying and we had to promise we never eat duck before he calmed down! Excellent fun!

At Disney Land, the Cruella devil is AMAZING. She had the accent, the look, she was AWESOME. Absoltely amazing,.

I agree on the Queen of Hearts! Met her at the UK pavilion and she was amazing.

Jafar was also great back when the Aladdin characters could always be found at the Studios, although he made my little sister (I think she was 9 at the time) cry.

I love meeting the less-known characters in random places--actually I was just thinking of starting a thread about that.

My favorite interaction was with the Bolt crew. I brought my little stuffed Bolt dog, and as you can see in my avatar Bolt really loved it. He and Rhino were messing with it, and Mittens stepped in to make them behave (just like she is the "sane" one in the movie).

A really fun interaction that surprised me was with Mary Poppins' penguins. I never realized they were so wild and crazy!

Stitch is usually a riot too. I remember once he was signing autographs in the atrium on one of the Disney ships. All of a sudden he threw down a kid's autograph book and pen, ran over to the piano that sits in the corner, and starting pounding on it! His handler eventually corralled him and made him behave, but it was so funny and Stitch-like.

big line between the furies and the face characters. on the latter, there seemed to be a very decided move on the part of the parks to get a bit edgier when they introduced the tremaines and continued to follow through on the fairies. they're really shows in themselves (although it's easier to watch the tremaine 'show').

the furries are really a combination of multiple things, but a lot of it is what you make of it. one thing i've learned is it's really easy to get a character to leave with you (which probably doesn't speak much for the company). i've done it a couple of times with stitch and even tried to smuggle eeyore out of a restaurant once.

personally i've had the most fun with lilo and stitch, but we're all on the same page mentally. a few times that stick out in my mind were once at MNSSH, we were just hanging out for a bit when another family came in, so we replaced him with my little stitch and got back in line and tried to convince the family that walked in that the little stitch was the real one (i'm sure it would have worked better if they had spoken english)

tried the same thing at DAK, where we replaced Stitch with the little one and then Stitch pulled a small leaf off a tree and put it on his head to camouflage himself.

stitch also performed CPR on my little stitch at 'ohana (my little stitch is supposed to talk, but he gets stubborn sometimes.. stitch claimed he heard him talk, but i couldn't get it to work, so stitch put it on the table and started performing chest compressions.. and no lie, it actually worked).

the queen's always been entertaining in my experience as well. most of the villains don't mind taking their role liberty. cruella and jafar are also good ones to come across.

We had great interaction with a storm trooper at DHS. He was silent and forboding, but he managed to immitate my son who was both stunned and excited to meet a Star Wars character.

i just love the character interactions and never came across one that i didnt like.

i HAVE to say though, on our trip in 2005 we had lunch in the castle with the princesses and the SNOW WHITE that was there was PERFECT in EVERY WAY!! She looked exactly like her, she sounded exactly like her. If i didnt know better she could have jumped right out of the silver screen right into the castle restaurant. Amazing!!

I was most impressed with the characters that don't speak! It's so much harder to express yourself with no facial expressions or words! They do such a wonderful job! :lovestruc

my dd was blown away that Minnie "got" what her costume was at MNSSHP. Lots of people were asking her if she was the mad-hatter (see pic below) and she was frustrated, but she walked up to Minnie and Minnie held out her arms in front of her like a monster. She was so excited that Minnie knew!

Funny...she decided to go as the mad-hatter THIS year! :)

Hands down, my favorite is Peter Pan. I wasn't a huge fan of the movie, but everytime I see him in the park, I always tell DH that he is lucky I met him before I met Peter Pan ;)

The step sisters and step mother at 1900 PF dinner were great! Very in character! Drizella and Anastasia sang to the table next to us. LT was very nasty to DD, she scolded her for having a dog at the dinner table (her snoopy that she carries everywhere) DD got very mad and hugged her snoopy haha.

Lilo and stitch were great with DD as well, Stitch surfed, and lilo did the hula with DD. Lilo really took her time with DD because she was wearing Lilo's mumu from the movie haha and had a Lilo doll. Stitch came and hugged the lilo and licked it and everything.

We have had good luck with 2 characters in particular, and always figured it was because they are our kids' favorites, and they tell them. On 3 occasions (years apart) we have had great luck with pluto. In 2000 our middle DD was 9 months old and loved everything yellow, so Pluto was attractive to her. We were at Breakfastasarus and Pluto came over. She was teething terribly so she grabbed his tongue and started teeting away. He stood there for no less than 3 or 4 minutes allowing her to teeth on him. I know it was probably covered in germs, but it was so sweet all we could do was take photos and smile. After that we got her a stuffed Pluto that she still sleeps with every night and has since been her favorite. Then everal years ago at Chef Mickey's we were the last ones in the restaurant and Pluto sat with us and played with her hair (she told him he was her favorite) and then he dances 3 songs with her, 2 fast and silly and one slow, it was so sweet. Then on our November trip, also at CM, we all had matching Pluto shirts on. Again we were the last or close to it in the place (we plan it that way) and Pluto played games with my kids and my middle DD had the beloved stuffed Pluto with her and he was playing keep away with it and then he put it on the end of his nose, tossed it up in the air and caught it in his mouth. It was so funny! My kids all love when Pluto comes around because he always seems to be very entertaining.

Also, my youngest DD is named after Ariel (middle name) and one of Ariel's sister's (first name) and she always gets Ariel talking up a storm when she tells her that. Everytime Ariel asks me about her name and I always say, my DH has a things for mermaids!;):lmao:

Ariel is always good, but no one has ever beat Pluto for us!

I have 2 that tie. Rafiki at AK in May 2007, he spend over 5 minutes playing and acting out movie scenes with DD ( 3 at the time) and her baby Simba (no lines at the time). I have many great pictures of this. The next one was Captain Hook w/ DD (4at the time) in September 2008 at MNSSHP. She was dressed as Belle and he played his part perfectly, I have a great picture of him bowing kissing her hand after playing with her for a few minutes that I used for her B Day party invites.

Hands down, my favorite is Peter Pan. I wasn't a huge fan of the movie, but everytime I see him in the park, I always tell DH that he is lucky I met him before I met Peter Pan ;)

I was 14 when I went as a kid, and my friend and I both had the hots for Peter Pan, he was darn cute!!

good times...

Our favorite was Stitch once at Ohana's. The server had cleaned the table next to us and as he was trying to set it and Stitch would steal stuff and run off. The server would chase him/her and finally go get more stuff. This went on for several trips and believe it or not Stitch finally emptied the salt all over the table and started playing in it. I thought the server was really gonna loose it but he just threw up his hands and walked off. The handler finally shewed Stitch to move on and see people. Only after that did the table finally get cleaned and used again.

I think my sister laughing so much was egging Stitch on. Hes her favorite character by far.

I agree, they really do. On the same day we were there with my Bolt doll to see his namesake, we also stopped to see the Incredibles. Strictly through gestures, Mrs. Incredible made a huge fuss over the doll and then let Mr. Incredible know that she wanted a puppy for Christmas (it was just before the holidays). Amazing how much they can get across with gestures.

Spectromagic Parade Peter Pan - he is the one and only TRUE Peter Pan!! I had the best time with him 2 years in a row!! I had bought a Peter Pan hat a couple years back and wore it all through one trip and that year in Spectromagic, Peter noticed me, grabbed me up in a hug and yelled to Capt Hook "hey codfish, people like me you know? Look here Hook!!" !! The next year I wore it again and he remembered me!! He said "hey your that girl! I tried to show you to that codfish!!" and hugged me again!!

Both times his voice was PERFECT!! He facially looked like Peter and everything!!

Since then I have retired my hat but I still see Peter in the parade and remember how magical it was!!

OT, but I truly feel for the CM's working at Spectro cause when I hugged Peter Pan each time the costume was really rough and HOT the lights on it must produce their own heat, and as I was hugging him I noticed how sweaty his face was. Normally you wouldn't notice things like that and it made me realize the dedication of the CM's to endure this each and every night to make people smile and laugh and have a perfect end to the day!! So thank you to you CM's you are AWESOME!! And I love you parade Peter Pan!

All of the characters at 1900 Park Fare are hilarious. Cinderell, Anastasia, Drizella, Prince Charming, and Evil Step Mom are great. The Step Sisters in particular were fantastic. They even had the voice down pat. Also, I got a picture with Cinderella which I had wanted for so long.:worship:
