I'd like to try staying in a standard view studio at BWV some time but I'm trying to figure out which trip to try and get into it for.(in other words, when are we going that are low DVC use times) We own at SSR so it's a seven month booking issue. The choices are: Dec 17-24, Jan 5-9, Mar 18-26, or May 18-25th. I thought maybe the marathon trip in Jan might be a good one as I could also go preferred view or maybe even BCV but... it is marathon weekend. TIA

Based on your options, my guess (and I emphasize "guess"), is that the hardest would be the December trip.

Best guess in order of easiest to hardest to book BWV SV at 7 months:

Jan 5-9,
May 18-25th
Mar 18-26
Dec 17-24

March would be Spring Break time.

I'm not sure how much the marathon gets the DVC villas booked up. Surely it's nothing like Food & Wine Festival or Spring Break, is it?

Good luck!!

I agree with Granny's order but would like to add that if you rate your chances on a 1 to 10 scale (1 having a chance and 10 little or no chance), your January choice is a 4 and the others are an 8 or a 9. Your May, March and December dates have more days involved and that will make it that much harder to get along with the fact that they are in or near holiday times.

Add September to your list for a really good chance.

I guess I would think getting into BWV wouldn't be nearly as difficult as getting a standard view at BWV.

I agree that it's not the getting into BWV, but the standard view. Last year, I was able to book a last minute BWV PV studio in October for a Dec. 18-22 stay, approximate dates, but none were weekend nights, high points. When I first made the ressie, there was going to be a move involved, but in the end, it was seamless.

Thanks for the replies. I was figuring standard view for the lower points but the X-mas and marathon trips are both currently booked for SSR and preferred view at BWV or going BCV is only 9(Dec) and 4(Jan) points higher than SSR for those same periods. It's rapidly approaching the 7 month booking window for transferring those ressies, whichever one I try and move. I had already planned on moving the marathon ressie to OKW and am waiting til the 7 month window to book Spring Break(college-Mar) at OKW(+2 nights at value, likely ASMo). I will probably try and get the Dec ressie transferred since we want to go to the Candlelight Processional twice this year so being close to Epcot would be nice. The worst that can happen is that we'll have to stay at SSR- oh the horror of being walking distance from DTD.

I agree, getting a standard view at BWV is most times very difficult. BWV members snap them up very fast, usually well before the 7 month booking opens up for non members.
You do have a better chance of getting a perferred view at BWV. You can also, pretty much forget getting a guaranteed boardwalk view, because they are also snapped up real fast by BWV owners. You have picked busy times for BWV availability.. Any villa will most likely require being on a waitlist and then trying to piece together the trip with day by day reservations and the waitlist.
I think of all your possible dates, Jan will be the one most likely to come through for a BWV. But you never know, it never hurts to get on a waitlist. I would have a confirmed reservation at another DVC resort, though. In case BWV does not become available for your entire trip dates and villa preferences. Which could very easily happen.
