We'll be making our first trip to Disneyland in August and I can't wait. We are starting the trip in SanFran and then heading to LA and doing Universal and some other tours and then Disneyland. We are flying from SanFran to LAX and then picking up a rental car.

Need your help on the best car rental company to deal with in this area as far as pick up, drop off, etc.

Thanks!

Midway Car Rental. They pick you up with a hotel shuttle (Radisson Airport Hotel) the car rental place is in the hotel. You click on the link on top for specials, go for the 10% off. I always get a rate of between $80 - 100 a week for economy car. Last three times I got a PT Cruiser. Make sure you bring your confirmation w/price on it for when you return car, one time I had a problem w/rate but since I had confirmation they abided by it.
The last time they actually drove me back to the airport in the car I rented instead of having to wait for airport shuttle which was nice.

I go with the big named rental car service like Enterprise. So far they have been a good company and reliable. SFO is such a hop, skip and a jump to LA. We live very close to SFO and fly once in a while to LA and it seems like you get your drink and your snack on the plane and you are already landing. Have fun

Thanks for the info and please keep them coming.:)

Right now my TA has us booked with Alamo but I'm not crazy about them unless they've changed. I didn't like the shuttle service as we waited so long because they waited for a full bus and the wait line once we got to Alamo was bad. Of course I'm basing this on my experience with WDW. My TA says we have time to change. We got a good deal since it's booked with a package but it's good service and rates that I want.

Thanks!:thumbsup2

I just used Alamo last month out of LAX and was really pleased. We walked out from luggage claim to the median and the bus was there, pulled away and we were off to their location. There was another one of their buses right behind ours, so they were running continuously. I had done the online check-in the week before we left so all we had to do was go to the aisle that had our class of vehicle, hop in and drive to the booth, where they took my paperwork, I signed the paperwork and we were off. Very simple.

I have never really had any trouble with any car rental company. Then again, I have never had the best of service from any particular one either. Check out Hotwire for the good rates portion of what you are looking for, you are guaranteed one of the five big rental companies (don't know which one you get until you make your agreement), but since they are all about the same it doesn't really matter as far as I am concerned.

I'm happy to hear this since Alamo right now had the best rate and it's why my TA booked them. Thanks for the tip of online checkin. Is this at their site. How far in advance can I do it. I won't need the car until midweek in the trip but won't have my computer so maybe if I can do it before we leave it would be great...anything to make the process faster.

Thanks for this info....so far feeling much better about them.

It's at their site... Click on "Check In Now". On that page is a place to put in your confirmation number and your last name. Also on that page under the big red "Check In Now" is a link for "Online Check In Information" has info about exclusions, just in case if any of those pertain to your rental.

I was able to check-in and print out the documents as soon as I made the reservation. In fact, I was able to cancel the reservation after I had checked-in when it came up cheaper. So if you meet the requirements, you should be able to check-in now... no need to worry about finding a computer on the trip!

We did this both at MCO in September and at LAX in February... it's mighty nice! Made me look like an expert traveler to my family at MCO and coworkers at LAX!

use priceline and name your own price save you a lot of money.

I just booked a car with Hertz via the Entertainment Book discount. There is an offer for 50% a weekend rental. I am not sure if you are traveling over the weekend, but that is a great deal!

I just took your advice and wanted to see what would come up if I tried to checkin online and I'm missing one important thing, my confirmation number. I took my paperwork out from my TA and under the car rental info it says Alamo but there is no confirmation number. This was booked as a package so the car, hotels and Disneyland stay are all on it. I only have one main number which is probably for the package so now I don't know if I can take advantage of this. I'm calling my TA today to find out why I can't do this.:confused3
