OK so not Disney related (though the savings could EASILY be spent at Disney...) but curious to see how people would handle this: Ordered a fridge online the other day from Best Buy. Hubby suggested waiting for Labor Day deals but research showed prices actually went UP last year so decided not to take the risk. Item scheduled for delivery this afternoon. Lo and behold, the price did go up BUT they have a 10% coupon which would actually bring the price lower than what I paid. Sure, only $60 but every little bit counts these days... So I go to the online chat to request a price match and am told NO. Because it's a coupon and not a price, there is nothing I can do unless I cancel the order. Do I want to chat with a supervisor? Yes please. Wait. Wait. Wait some more. Only to be told the same thing. Now it's too late to cancel the order, but I can refuse delivery. Which seems to penalize the delivery & installation crew. Oh and RMN now has 2% instead of 1%. So now I'm trying to decide if I simply refuse delivery and apologize profusely to the team saying this is what I was told to do. Or suck it up. Either way it leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. $60 may not seem like much but I've been out of work 2.5 years and was the sole provider so now living on retirement savings so little things do add up.

Is there any fee related to refusing delivery? I assume you paid a charge for delivery initially, would that be refunded along with the product price? I'd definitely find that out because it could wipe out the coupon savings. I would probably just accept that the coupon came out after your purchased and cannot be applied retro-actively. That's pretty common.

Great question about refunding the delivery fee. Why have a price drop policy though if you're not going to honor it? I feel like I've messed up Target Circle offers more than once and they've been great about honoring it to save me from the hassle of re-ordering. When companies are scrambling for business, I guess I'm just surprised they wouldn't figure out a solution to their own policy. Apparently in this case a disgruntled customer is worth more to them than a happy customer who would sing their praises. Go figure.

I get your position and I'd be kicking myself in the same situation -- in fact I'm sure I've been there before. But to a retailer a "coupon" is not the same as a "price drop" or "sale price." Not everyone who purchases that same item will get the lower price; some won't use the coupon or may have used the coupon on a different item (it's 10% off 1 item, right?). Could they honor it as good customer service? Sure. But they've said no. I guess you could call again and hope to get a different answer from a different rep.

But this isn’t a price drop. It’s a coupon that wasn’t effective when you placed your order. Refusing delivery and ordering again will probably cost you more in fees and time

I am on team a coupon is not a price drop. I understand 60 is 60 and absolutely understand. I would doubt you will get you delivery fee back however if you did cancel being the item was delivered and you refused but I could be wrong. I would ask nicely if there is anything they will not say they are not honoring a price drop…
In my experience there is always a catch with the coupons however like a higher delivery fee or a haul away fee etc making the real price very close if not the same.

Maybe you could try and call the store and see if the store manager can help you.

it is pretty much impossible to directly reach a local best buy store by phone-they all go through the same outsourced phone system and if they DO agree to supposedly transfer you to the store it rings and rings and rings....then toggles you back to the same outsourced.

just looked at best buy's site and they specifically say they don't honor price matches via their own coupons-

this is when I really miss sears-they had the BEST price match/beat policies-you could wait till another retailer had a good sale going then go to Sears for them to beat the price by 10% AND guarantee that if they advertised any sale on the same items that bettered the deal within 10 days of purchase you could go back in and further avail yourself. best deal we got was on our front loaded washer and dryer-they undercut the other retailer by 10% but a few days later their ad offered the risers free with any washer/dryer purchase. went back to the store and the salesman reversed the price on both the risers so we saved another few hundred on the purchase:thumbsup2

Our Price Match Guarantee does not cover:

  • Any financing offers, bundle offers, items included in bundle offers, subscription services, free items, pricing errors, mail-in offers, coupon offers, items that are advertised as limited quantity, out of stock items, clearance items, open-box items, refurbished items, pre-owned items, credit card offers, gift card offers, items included in gift card offers, Point of Sale Activation cards, video game discounts related to a membership program, and voice-only deals, whether offered by us or a Qualified Competitor.
I know it’s tempting to refuse the order if it does not incur fees on your end, and just order it again at the lower price with coupon…but, what if you then find out it is out of stock? Or after the experience realize saving the extra $60 cost you in headaches and inconvenience between turning away delivery and return process ends up complicated and time consuming?

If it’s the make/model you prefer and was initially at a solid price, I’d focus on that and getting sooner rather than later.
