Akkk, so most of my hair is fine but there are a handful of gray hairs that simply do not accept any color and I am readign this is common of people who are naturally in the red family.... just whyyyyyyyy

Anyone else have this issue, what brand box color works for you?

I'm starting to think it might be time to go with highlights.

Are you using semi permanent or permanent dye? Permanent should do the job nicely. I like the colors of Feria; vibrant, up to date and extra product added for gloss.

Full disclosure: I stopped dyeing my hair when the greys began appearing as I was ready to embrace them.

I'm a natural red head, and I've never been able to at-home color my hair....best results have always been with a professional.

I'm starting to wean myself off of color these days. I'm about 1/2 white, if not a bit more. I'm not so much tired of fighting it, but rather curious as to what I look like!

I'm not a redhead but I do have greys that don't keep most colors very well. Good thing I'm happy with my black box dye.

I do think I'd probably suggest highlights. it would be minimal effort and as your grey strands start to grow more the highlights will probably distract from them making them less noticeable than they would be even if you could find a color that actually covers them.

How about a color depositing hair mask? Depending on how frequently you wash it should last a week or more before it washes out. The grays will still be a lighter shade, but should look like highlights. The benefit is that there is no demarcation line and minimal skill is required.

None - I’m not kidding. I have the same problem as you and I’ve tried several. This is my favorite brand and also my favorite color. I need to color my hair Wednesday morning before work.

I used Loreal Preference but just grabbed a box of Excellence today, this is the color I am going to try.

Why are natural reds so very stubborn, although to be honest I do have quite a head of hair. Maybe what makes the hair strong also makes it resistant? Like I did my eyebrows because there is one gray just ignoring all the efforts  it got sharpied today - like how silly is that?

At my neighborhood hair salon, they use the Wella brand for their hair coloring products. Wella sells at Sally's Beauty supply shops. Now that I am color matched perfectly and know the time to leave it on, I'm going to start buying the boxes and doing it myself at home.
