Best bldgs. to request at OKW to be near it ALL...

In reality, studios at OKW might not have the best views. They are attached to 1 bedroom units, so the view was supposed to be from the big deck off the living room, and the studio was intended to be the second bedroom. Like most timeshares, studios are part of a bigger unit. At OKW, the studios are on the outside ends of the buildings, so often will be in heavy vegetation or otherwise have their views blocked. THat being said, I think OKW has some of the best views from the 1, 2, and 3 bedroom units in all of DVC.

Are there any studios with nice views at OKW? Has anyone stayed in a studio and thought they had a nice view? If so, do you remember what unit you were in?

64 is very close to HH, but about as far from the walkway to DTD as you can get.

Diane, the way I'm comprehending these posts is that building 62, 63, and 64 are close to the hospitality house AND have the second entryway into the master bath of the 1 and 2 bedrooms.

I remember way back in '06 you told me one of your favorite buildings was either 45 or 46. Are they still one of your top picks? Is it a really long haul up to HH? I was just curious because my husband is really into having a room right on the river, but I worry about it being too long of a walk to the main areas. Every time we've stayed at OKW I've initially booked for one of those rooms and chickened out at the last minute to go for one of the HH rooms.

We LOVE 45 and 46 yet. Stayed there in November. If you walk from there to HH, it will take about 5 minutes. It might take longer depending on how fast you walk. I'm 60 and arthritic, and I didn't mind the walk at all. If you want to take a bus from there, it will take longer and you still have to walk to the nearest bus stop, which is the opposite direction from the HH. We think 46 is the best with 55 close behind.

Thanks Diane! 5 minutes is nothing! (BTW, I'm a brisk walker) For some reason I was figuring the walk would be a lot longer. I think this time I'll finally stick to that request and hope it comes through. We've passed by those buildings on one of the boats to DTD and thought that their views had to be one of the best. Thanks again :thumbsup2

We are going to be there starting this Sunday. We have a one bedroom, and I am not really sure where we want to stay.

I like walking while we are on vacation - just looking for a laid back mellow trip - seems like OKW will be right up my alley.

Can anyone post an updated map of OKW resort? Also, is there a building where you can see the Epcot fireworks?

Thanks

Last year when I was looking into booking my elderly parents into OKW for a getaway, I advised MS that my father uses a scooter and my mother was recovering from a stroke and requested she note to try to place them close to HH or at least a bus stop. MS told me that they try to reserve buildings 62-64 for guests with special needs because of the elevators. Sure enough, they were in building 62 and they said it was a perfect location for them. Was anyone else told this?

We were in bldg. 27 in a studio last Dec. and it was a great location. Quiet,
just across the street from HH and we got off busses at Peninsula Rd. and
walked across the bridge and across the street to the HH area. This is the
first stop on the way BACK from the parks. When we were leaving to go to
the parks, we waited at the HH bus stop since that is the last stop. It all
worked out great!:goodvibes

OKay when I called MS earlier today....because I am on cash ressies for 2 of my 7 nights...I can't reserve HH because the ones on points are availabe there but not the cash nights. So she put on the ressie that I request something near HH. So I have been reading this thread again and looking at the map. How far apart are the bldgs?? About like SSR. I would think that bldg 23 would be an excellent choice to be near the HH???? OR 63 if we wanted an Elevator bldg. IS this right?? Thanks

How many floors do the buildings at OKW have? I wasn't sure if the elevator would be that important?!?

OKW has 3 floors. We have stayed on the 3rd floor on 2 separate trips...one with an elevator and one without. I have to admit that the elevator was certainly convenient (especially when checking in and when coming home late after a long day in the park). But, I would gladly accept another 3rd floor unit in a non-elevator bldg (especially since the kids are bigger and can help unload the car).:)

Is OKW like the other Disney deluxe resorts where your luggage will be delivered and picked up from your room?

On the OKW map, the buildings outlined in red are all handicap accessible.

Nine OKW buildings have 2 floors and the rest have three floors. Here is a report with the configuration of all OKW buildings: OKW Building Configuration

OKW does have a great Bell staff. They will take you and your luggage to your villa and also return you to the HH when you check out. They will also store luggage and/or perishables at check-in and checkout if needed.

I would be very hesitant to make requests for a specific building since if it's not available the resort has no way to know what you are really requesting. I'd suggest making general requests like "golf course view" , "water view" or "woods view" or give a resort area (HH, South Point, Turtle Pond, Miller Road) or group of buildings (23-29, 30-36) so the resort has some sense about what you are wanting.

Doc with this advice, would it be correct to request Peninsular Road if I am looking for buildings 45, 46, 55 or buildings 23-29? Thanks!

Yes, a Peninsular Road request would work there - I might even request those building numbers so there is no question what you are requesting - although 55 is not on Peninsular Road (56 is though and has a woods view for most of the villas).
