I need opinions on the BEST place in the World for DS's 13th birthday.

Here's the scoop:

It's a surprise trip - if I can keep my mouth shut that long! He is turning 13. It will be just the two of us. His b-day is April 27; we'll be arriving mid-day on April 27. I guess the special meal doesn't HAVE to be dinner. I'd love to do CRT, but I know there is no hope for that. (I just decided on this trip last week!)

He has Down Syndrome, so in some ways he is way under 13, and in other ways is every bit a teenager! He loves the characters, but is starting to realize they are people in costumes.

I'd like to have a cake brought to the table (I know they are extra and have to be ordered ahead). But I kind of hate to buy a cake if we are at a buffet or something that includes dessert.

We are staying at Pop, so I'm leary of other resorts (travel time) unless they are the monorail (we'll probably spend most of that day in MK).

Please share your favorite kid's birhday spots.

Thanks,
LisaB

Hi Lisa , I would have to say Chef Mickeys!! :bday: You have the characters and the whole restaurant has a celebration feel to it when they do the napkin waving thing! You can order a cake but they do take a cupcake to your table with a candle. I have also seen the characters come over to the table when the cupcake is brought out. Great picture opportunity! Chef Mickeys is also just a monorail ride away from the MK. My family loves the food and atmosphere(in fact we were just there last Saturday nite) it is always a MUST DO on each vacation! Joan

We suprised DS with a trip at his 8th birthday party in October. The next day we were going to fly in, have dinner at LTT and then go to MNSSHP. ALOT to do in one day but it made it so very exciting - we stayed up till 1:30 in the morning.
DS loved LTT and the special cake we ordered for him. THe cake was huge and we didnt want to lug it around the park the rest of the night so we gave the rest away to a family at another table - come to find out it was the little girls birthday as well.

Fun time, great food and awesome service.

Don't give up on CRT because you never know. I would also suggest Crystal Palace. I love that place as well. It is all Winnie the Pooh characters but it's generally a feel good atmosphere and the food is great. I hope you have a great trip and you are able to keep it a surprise. I love it when my kids are genuinely surprised. princess:

Chef Mickeys is a fun atmosphere. You'll get to ride the monorail too. Try asking if you and your DS can sit in the front of the monorail at the station. They will let you if there is no one else already there or they may have room for 2. You might even get an official liscense from the driver. Fun Stuff..... Also, ask for a birthday button for your DS. You sometimes get a little extra Pixie Dust when in Disney if he'll wear it. Have a great trip!
