Best Beer

The mention of the half yard of beer at Rose and Crown reminded me last Spring of sitting on the outdoor patio at R & C and watching two guys each drink 3 of these in around an hour. Can somewhere do the math and tell me how much they drank?

Big River on the Boardwalk doesn't have the best beer but drinking a sampler while sitting outside watching the people go by is a nice diversion.

Tennants was my favorite. Bass Ale is great to me, but more from a simple nostalgic point. Canada has a beer that tastes a bit like champagne--not my favorite. I am looking forward to having the Hefewizer (?) Sam Adams beer. They are testing some new SA beers here locally. I recently tried a Tusker beer (AKL) and it was just OK. Boring. I like Stella, Guiness, etc. Best? I'll let you know after F&W. Happy to research this.

WDW as a whole is pretty pathetic when considering the beer selection. They tend to offer 'big name' mass produced brews over some of the truley great world beers which is a big miss for the World Showcase

I do love Sammy Smith Oatmeal Stout. Why the UK in Epcot doesn't have a better selection, I'll never understand :confused3

Too true oh wise one! :thumbsup2

There are some wonderful beers over here (and the world in general) with some real flavour to them. If only I could post them on this thread....but I'll just have to drink them myself ;)

I am a Guinness lover also. Although it is extremely hard to find it served at the right temp. Everyone always serves it cold. I believe they had Sierra Nevada and Anchor Steam which are two of my favs. :drinking1
When you say they, who exactly does that refer to? SN and AS are two of my faves as well.

you will love the other Belgium beers

There are some stunningly good Belgian beers - I agree that Stella isn't one of them. However, it is great on a hot day due to its main attributes - cold, fizzy and wet.

Last June, my wife and I drank around the world two times. I drink plenty of Guinness (stout is better) at home and we both did a 1/2-yard at R&C but, (and don't ask why) we both LOVED Biere Kronenbourg 1664 in France. Totally opposite of what I usually drink but boy was it good. I know I drank at least 7 during our trip. I can't remember the beer we had in Morocco but we also liked that. Take the time while you are in the world showcase to try beers that you haven’t before. Ask the bartender or bartenres what they like better, and take their advice.

If you like Stella Artois, the worst Belgium beer, you will love the other Belgium beers (there hunderds of them)... but they don't sell them at EPCOT

PS. I am no beer drinker myself... (I like champagne :teeth: )

AH ghost truer words my friend. My old roommate was from Belgium and his Dad would shake your hand. I am a big Belgian Beer guy. Duvel, Orval Trappist..... I saw someone mention Tennant from Scotland I believe that beer is awsome too!

Can anyone tell me of any other place besides Canada in Epcot that sells Labatts? If no where in WDW, is it sold in Florida at the grocery stores?

He doesn't remember the name - but DH says this beer in Germany was not only the best tasting but by FAR the best deal (less than 10 bucks!)

I have a question. Hubby is strictly a Miller Lite guy. He doesn't like dark beer of any kind. Anyone have a list of WS beers that (please don't flame me!) taste most like Miller Lite?

DH loves Optimator in Germany. He has to get one every time we pass it by.

I think the American pavillion may have Bud Light and Sam Adams Light. Other choices for a lighter beer:

- Franziskaner - A wheat beer that you should be able to find in Germany
- Kirin Ichiban - (NOT Kirin Lager) Check to see if they have the Ichiban in Japan
- Tsingtao - Available in China

Out of the above, I give the #1 recommendation to the Fraziskaner. If he likes lighter beers, a wheat brew is the way to go

The best beer I've ever had in Epcot was last year's F&W Festival Sam Adams (brewed only for the event). The right amount of hops, a little bit of caramel and toastiness. Really good stuff... Other than that, they really don't have any really good beers (Chimay, Paulaner, Anchor Steam) in Epcot. The Crew's Cup lounge @ The Yacht Club does carry Anchor Steam and is only a short walk away... I love Tusker Beer @ The Animal Kingdom Lodge as well.

Alright, according to my husband, who works for Guinness, Guinness should always be served between 36 and 42 degrees farenheit. (in ireland its actually served a little bit colder). There is a misconception that Guinness is supposed to be served at room temperature. Yes, back in the 1800s, pre-refridgeration, it was served at room temperature...but that meant room temperature in a storage cellar, which typically was around 35 degrees.

Stella is a favorite of mine, but Brocktoon is right, with all the beer choices out there the Epcot choices are rather mundane.

i don't care what brands are there i aim to test them all :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 all in the interests of science of course, its a personal survey thing :woohoo:

This thread would do quite well on the Restaurants Board!!
I recall Le Cellier having several different Canadian beers (other than Labatts, etc) when we ate there a couple of years back.
Dos Equis is a favorite of mine, as is that Franziskaner at the German pavillion. Big River has a seasonal beer ( Wowzer's Wheat) that I like also.
Raglan Road may have Smithwicks, which is pretty good. The Blue Zoo (at the Dolphin) has Tiger beer.

I prefer Samuel Adams Boston Lager which is not easy to get here in England, about 6 months ago I was in Makros which is kind of like Sam's Club and they had it in 12 packs so I got a couple of them and when we was in Florida this last month I was able to get some at Publix and wish I could of brought back some to England but it would of been hard to pack. I do like Newcastle Brown Ale that you can get at Plant Hollywood.
