Best Beach Town for visiting Disneyland/Universal?

Hi,

We are planning on visiting Disneyland next year (early August), and were wondering which of the beach towns would be best located for visiting Disneyland and Universal (we are driving, and appreciate Universal would be about an hours drive - planning on visiting on a Saturday or Sunday).

Looking to be in the area between 1st and 8th August, and would also be grateful if anyone knows if there are any surfing events being held in Huntington Beach at this time as we would prefer to avoid the heavy crowds!!

There is a Huntington Beach website www.surfcityusa.com that can give you info about events
We have stayed there several times & hope to get back in the next year or 2

Thanks for the link - I suspect it is a little early for events to be posted, but will keep an eye on the events calander.
