Best bag to carry your stuff at the parks?

I love the columbia tour pouch bag. Just ordered from the above link and they are a hot deal right now for only $8.97 verses $39.99 (while in stock).

Thanks for the tip!

So, we know it's a sin to wear a fanny pack. But what is the best type of bag to bring to the park? Just something to carry a wallet and cameras, but not as big as a purse?

I confess. I am a sinner. It's still a fanny pack for me.

Broke my new Columbia pouch in today (and my new sneakers) as we walked around Cape May, NJ. Both held up wonderfully!! Bag was a little full with my camera...may think about making it a little lighter but overall it was comfortable and great to use (need to try to remember which zipper compartment holds what!!!!)

I have 3 kids and I must confess, I was totally against fanny packs for the longest time - I lugged around a big backpack with my park essentials (tickets, money, room card, small camera, etc) and my kid essentials (diapers, wipes, snacks, sippy cups, etc). Then everytime we rode a ride, we'd park the stoller, carry a kid and the big backpack onto the ride. It was very unwieldy and I was always worried about losing it. Well, for our trip earlier this year I broke down and got a fanny pack and I must say, I may never go to Disney without one again. Now, I pack "kid essentials" in a backpack and make sure that there is nothing valuable in there and I put my park essentials (i.e. valuables) in my fanny pack. Now we leave the backpack with the stroller (and if it gets lost or stolen then the new acquirer is going to be very dissapointed) and I have two hands to hold kids or anything else we may have and I don't worry about losing the important stuff - my kids and my park tickets :)

My DH was rolling his eyes at me the first day  , but I could tell he was really liking not having to lug that backpack in every ride or show.

We're going back a Christmas for a big family trip (my 5 plus 18 others) and I'm wondering who I can convert first :scratchin

Anybody use a camelbak? With all the water issues it seems like a logical choice. I just got a TrailBlazer model that holds 70 ouces of water and about 1300 cu in of goods. Plus it has webbing on the sides and loops to put a carbiner on.

I just bought a Vera Bradley Hipster bag that goes across the body and falls at the hip. It is great and big enough for a wallet and small camera. It will be great for the parks. Good luck finding your bag. :cheer2: :cheer2:

I wanted something a little bigger but NOT a backpack. I didn't like having to take the bag off to get something or ask someone else to check the bag for me (while I was still wearing it). After reading tons of posts on the DIS, I went with the Overland Donner. It's a messenger style with 2 water bottle holders. Just LOVE IT!

Good Luck, the choice is a very personal one since everyone's needs are different.

But finding "the perfect park bag" is part of the fun of planning.

With this columbia bag, can you wear it on the rides? Is it secure enough to the body to safely hold your valuables and digital camera, room key, money, cell phone, etc.?

I confess I've always used a fanny bag, but by nature I'm more organized than a fanny bag allows, I like easy access to all my things and this Columbia bag and the Baggalini wallet bag both look like great options!

I also have 3 kiddos, so I must carry some type of bag. I want a Vera Bradley backpack, they are lightweight. But, DH says he isn't carrying a girls bag!!Ha!
I read on here a while back that a clear regular school back pack is the way to go. Any suggestions on this? It's suppose to cut down on fumbling in a dark bag, and the security line.

I have a bag question. I have three kids and need the following things in bag: sunglasses, small sunscreen, 1 change clothes, digital camera (not a compact one), cell phone, 3 autograph books and pens, wipes ( this is the minimum). What do you suggest? Last year, we used a backpack and left it in the stroller, however, we were always digging around. I need to get to the phone and books easily and I would like to have something light to fit it all into, including the camera. ????

I have a small purse which is just big enough to hold my camera, money, tissues, all the essentials. It has a long strap that I can wear slung over my shoulder messenger style without the bulk.

I do the same thing. I have a small crochet purse that holds quite a bit (small wallet, sunglasses, etc.), slung across my body. I haven't tried fitting a camera in it, too, but think it could accommodate a small digital. I used to do fanny packs but found I didn't like the ones that were big enough to hold a camera, as well as my other stuff (too bulky).

I also have three kids but no longer need the diapers and stuff... I'm planning on taking a lightweight "string" bag to carry on my back. I've used it at other amusement parks to hold keys, wallet, sunglasses, sunscreen, and water bottles.

I found great little bags for the girls at Dollar Tree. They're like a miniature one strap backpack, so they can wear them on their fronts or back. They're perfect for carrying their autograph books, quarters/pennies for the penny press machines and whatever else I need to stick in there.

This bag rocks. Got mine Tuesday! Thanks for the tip Debbie!! :thanks:

OK...this is getting out of hand....I have been wasting all my time on the computer over the past week focusing on which bag to buy for my time at Disney. I am used to carrying the purse across my chest. I am looking for that type of bag. I have researched and spent a lot of time looking at all the suggested bags. I have looked at Overland Donner bags and Equipment bags and others in that line. I have looked at Vera Bradley Hipsters...they seem too big for me and too expensive.... I have looked at the Columbia one from Campmor and also the Kavu Bag. I have seen an Eddie Bauer one listed on Ebay and Also have bid on it. I am so confused!! My situation is this-I will be renting a stroller for my 4 1/2 year old. I have 3 kids total. I want to carry a bag that I can keep my pocket sized Kodak camera in as well as tickets, autograph pens and money. I don't think that I want too big of a bag to carry because I can keep autograph books and silly things in a bag in the stroller when we go on rides. Please help. I want to order and take care of this asap so I can spend time researching Disney. We leave in 23 more days.....yikes- This is my first time to Disney!!

OK- I ended up buying an eddie bauer travel bag online. It looks small, compact and has area for credit cards....it is finally over...no more thinking about this and now back to planning and reading message boards for trip in 20 days!!! Phew! :rotfl:

I think these are an excellent idea if you are going in the extreme heat! :thumbsup2

I got one of these for DH for our trip in August. He is a sweater :scared: and is going to need the extra fluid.

A local band when down last June and they required all the kids to get these. I guess they are a good idea. I plan on filling it with ice and water also. His has a couple extra pockets on the sides and places to put a carbineer too. We will just load him up because he will be nice and cool

:tink:

has anyone tried the travelon microfiber onvertible backpack/shoulder bag? I just saw it on QVC online and was curious.

What is it about waist packs that turn people off so much? I used one for years and was pretty happy with it for the most part.

Later, my needs outgrew the typical waist pack and I came up with my utility belt:
