Best and Worst Cover Songs

This cover is AMAZING!!! No where near as good as the original because Ronnie James Dio is a GOD but IMO the KSE cover is great!!!!

I beg to differ. I think it was because he/they tried too hard to copy RJD. They didn't bring anything to it, didn't add, didn't make it better.

(I do admit to being hard to please with covers. Nine times out of ten, I prefer the original, but it's usually with good cause that I do not like the cover.)

Yeah I can see that, and I tend to use the same method as you do when judging good covers...I guess I just love Holy Diver so much that it sounds good to me

Agreed!!! Halford is number 3, Bruce and Eric are a close 1 and 2....Bruce Dickinson, Eric Adams, Rob Halford, Ronnie James Dio, Matt Barlow are my top 5.

Matt Barlow sounds like Paul Stanley. Good call on Van Canto. That guy's voice is siiick!

Hands down winner is "Piece of my heart" by Faith Hill - it makes me sick to even hear that version Janis Joplin would be rolling in her grave if she had to listen to it!

I love when my kids hear songs and don't know they are remakes - hilarious and makes me feel so old at the same time

Yeah, that's all I got. I know there are probably a couple more, but not a whole lot.

Technically not a remake but that Kid Rock song that starts off with the opening strains of Werewolves of London, Warren Zevon. I absolutely hate that song and it's sampling.

I actually love this song.


The worst:
Most of them. Seriously. I HATE covers and remakes! Some of my all-time worst remakes:
I Want You to Want Me by some annoying girl group
Take My Breathe Away by Jessica Simpson
Heaven by some annoying little twit (the Bryan Adams song)
Shameless by Garth Brooks
Life is a Highway by that stupid country band

I know there are many, many more and I've just blocked them. But those make my hair stand on end.

But you know what I hate even more than remakes? Gleemakes! AAARRRGGGHHHH. Don't Stop Believing by the cast of Glee may be the worst thing I've ever heard in my entire life.

'Angels" by Jessica Simpson. Its a remake of a Robbie Williams song. If I ever meet Robbie I have to slap him (after I snog him!!) for letting JS redo his song (he wrote it so he could have said no). UGH!!!
