Going to be down at WDW shortly, thinking of trying out the Wilderness Explorers game at AK. My daughter will be celebrating her 6th birthday on this trip -- do you think she's at an age where it would be a good fit for her?

Thanks for any insight.

Perfect age, IMO. My boys were 5 & 7 when we did this. Both loved it. Some of the activities are really cute. It did take two AK days to complete it though. Maybe we were just slow, but there were lots of stickers to collect.

Six should be fine. I think the target audience is probably 7-10, but the great thing about the Wilderness Explorers Program is that it really works well for all different ages, and the CMs seem to do a good job of adapting their spiel to the person’s age and knowledge. I’ve read reports of toddlers doing the badges alongside their older brothers and sisters as well as adults who find the booths a lot of fun. The activities are so varied that they really appeal to a variety of different ages and interests. Some activities are more hands on; some are more informational. Some appeal more to older kids/tweens and some to younger. What’s nice is that there are 30 badges, so if you come to one that is too difficult or doesn’t interest you, you can just skip it and do a different one later. The only thing I see as possibly being an issue for a 6 year old is the reading. Some of the badges require a little reading, but you should be able to help her with that easily enough. In the end, I think it depends on your child’s personality and interests more than their age. These are fun educational activities after all, and children who are interested in animals, science, or learning seem to enjoy the activities better than other children who only want to rush through to get the stickers.

My son did this at age 5 and had a lot of fun. He needed us to help with reading some of it and helping with some of the answers but he still really enjoyed it. He will be 6 (almost 7) this next trip and he's already going through his booklet to see what badges he needs and he's really excited about it.

Did it with a 6 & 2.5 - the older one needed some help with reading and the younger one like seeing all the stuff and getting stickers. It did take us 2 days as well but we like AK and had planned on 2 days anyways.
