Morning Angels....
Off to a late start here...must be the rainy weather....:(
Just took the kids to school...and now I have to rant!!!!!!

We live about 2 miles from the school...in nice weather Patrick has been allowed to ride his bike, just this week AJ was allowed to ride for the first time with Patrick before Patrick goes off to the district school. The road the boys ride to school on (and the same one I drive on) is a "village road" (and the name ;) )and it's a 35 mph road, fairly flat, fairly straight, and runs parallel to the state highway that runs through town....at 55 mph. Cars tend to sometimes go a tad too fast on our Village Rd, simply because it is just like the state rd. Well, about 1/4 mile from school, there is a long curve that comes to a fork in the road, you bear to the right and head to the school, but coming back from the school, you can't see around the corner as it's also coming up a hill.
(do you all have a picture of this now...LOL)
well, we get to the curve today, and there is a house with their driveway in the dead middle of the curve....out of the driveway come two boys on bikes...not even looking for oncoming traffic (ME) and neither of them wearing helmets......enough to annoy you already, huh????....it gets better.....

one of the boys, the one who lives in that house....was HIT by a dumptruck back in October when leaving school on his bike. He almost lost his leg due to the injuries. He just recently started back in school, after being in extensive physical therapy for 7 months.

It just pissed me off to no end that (1) his parents would allow him to ride to school without learning any better safety measures. and (2) HE DIDN'T HAVE A HELMET ON!!!!!! oh but wait.....the town police department GIVES BIKE HELMETS AWAY FREE every year!!!!!!!!!!!!

grrrrrr.....amazing....you need a license to fish, but not to have kids!!!!!!!!!

I hear you loud and clear Steph!!! There's a girl in our neighborhood that always just rides out of her driveway without looking, and she's old enough to know better. I don't know the family and even if I did I'd hesitate to actually approach anyone myself. I have often considered calling the police just to have someone touch base with the parents before a tragedy happens.

I need to get a bumper sticker:

"Stupid people suck."

Stephanie. I get that same feeling whenever I see a small child in a car not restrained in a car seat.

To Whom are you referring to Stephanie?;)

Up late this morning since my DS has been out of school. LK's and my nephew broke his arm 2 days ago while riding his bike. He wasn't paying attention and ran into a mailbox! Reminds me of when LK broke her leg when she was young. She'll have to tell you about it. I never had to go to the hospital at all until I had kids.

There was (I don't know if it was confirmed yet) a tornado going through the Pittsburgh area last night. My SIL saw it going down her street. She said it made the sound of a train going by. Fortunately, there was no damage to her house, but a couple neighbors had their lawn furniture blow away and someone's roof was coming apart. They had one go by in 1998 too when they were watching my DS as I was working.

Off to look at the riddle and do some cleaning (yuck!) today. Bye Angels!

Boy does that get me upset!

Good morning angels!

It drives me crazy to see kids without helmets or not restrained in cars. It's the law here that helmets have to be worn by kids, but you still see them all the time. The ones that really get me are the ones that have their helmet hanging off the handle bars. Oh yeah, that's really going to help when you get creamed by a car!

I'm off to get some work done before I have to leave for work  Have a great day!

My kids are literally the ONLY 3 kids in my entire neighborhood that wear helmets!!!!!

Kids without helmets make me angry, too. What are parents thinking? The same goes for car seats and boosters. There is no excuse for not having these safety measures in place.

I certainly hope E! chooses the RMC board to make her "milestone' post!!!!

I am a tad bit "busy" today at work so I am finally just checking in again.

Did we ever find out about the location of the journal??? I was hoping to see it sometime soon :)

Oh and milestone post???? Steph, I honestly don't look at my post count (it's rather embarassing at this point I think) so I am not sure if I am close to one.

Blech... someone want to do my work for me? :teeth:

And yes STUPID PEOPLE SUCK!

Enjoy the day all :)

Just got home and I'm waiting for the school bus to arrive with the varmints. I always love the stuff they bring home on the last day...and I can't wait to see report cards!

High school report cards come in the mail. I better try to find out what day to expect them.

There was a child in the area that had a bad bike accident and had to be airlifted to the hospital. He recovered ok. I spoke to his mother and said, "I guess you will make him wear a helmet from now on." Do you know what she said?! "No, it wouldn't have helped anyway." Is she NUTS?

See you later Angels.

I can't believe people and safety, either! We have no helmet law here for motorcycles, guess what, when you lay your bike down at 80 mph, you die. A friend of ours says there are only 2 types of bike riders, those that have crashed and those that are going to. I know when Pete layed his down at 50, his helmet saved him bigtime, he was wearing a full face, and his chin got scratched. He did 7K damage to his bike, which was only 2 weeks old! And when I was in 4th grade one of my cousins got hit whilke riding his bike, this was way before the days of helmets, he died. It is so sad to see kids loose in the cars and vans, or riding bikes or blades with out the right equipment. It really does make me mad, too.

Oh you hoo, journal....... Stephanie mailed you out a while ago, if you don't want to go to the next person, please let us know. We miss you.

Oh, end of year report cards........ Could be good or bad.

Lunch time here, see you all later.

:D  Hi Everyone!

No journal here, and I just got done cleaning around the house, so I should know. My sister is coming in from Ohio tonight w/ her family for our nephew's graduation party tomorrow. They are going to come over here tonight so I had to do a quick cleaning. Maybe we can take everyone out to Denny's for the 2 for 1 special! Gotta love when I don't have to prepare anything.

Hiya

God bless my DBF but I do wonder if he knows me at all sometimes!!

About an hour ago he had to 'rescue' me from another spider (ick!!!) and then he went downstairs about 20mins later and shouts up 'Do you want to come watch Arachnophobia with me?!'

LOL! Yeah! Sign me up for that one.... ;)

I know he means well :) He's a sweety.

Cya,
Gaspode
