I am renting points from a DVC owner -my question is do I receive any benefits like an owner? Ex: discount at certain restaurants,being able to use the fitness center without cost, or being able to pool hop. I didn't know if you needed to show a certain membership card.

If the plastic key they give you to charge with says you are a member you might be able to get some food discounts. To pool hop I believe you would have to show your membership card. The fitness center is open to anyone staying at the DVC hotel at least that is the way it is at OKW

Member benefits are for members. Some of these are extended to non-member guests staying with the member. Since you are not staying with the member, technically, you are not entitled to any of these. You will get the standard WDW guest benefits, such as free parking at the theme parks, sending packages purchased at the theme parks and DTD to the store at your resort, etc.
