Benefits to buying from Disney or Resale?

I've looked at buying DVC a few times and was wondering if there is a benefit to buying 'new' from disney or buying resale? What do you think? Tips and suggestions on this topic would be appreciated.

Benefits I think is that you can finance through Disny for a new contract and that you dont have to pay closing costs and you get the points so much sooner than you would if you bought resale.
We bought through Disney because we needed financing and it was so easy to get actually very simple.

Then if you buy resale you dont have to purchase the 160 minimum like you do if you go through Disney.

Disney subsidizes some of the closing costs. (They use to pay ALL the closing costs, but they changed that a couple of years ago and now the buyer pays some of the closing costs)

Once you're a member, and you do any Add-On's through Disney, DVC pays all the closing costs for the add-on.

we are about to close for the first time through the Anaheim office. We are paying about $330 in closing cost....our sales rep told us from here on out Disney will pick up the closing.....we got 300 pts + 160 developer pts....next up will be when they put up the new California Villas for sale....we've been told that 160 pts will be the initial pts cap

Once you are a member, from Disney Direct or Resale, all member bennies are the same.

Buying from Disney will sometimes offer perks... I'm not current on the offers. But from reading the boards looks like at some point buying in Chicago gave some annual passes or $500 gift certificate... buying on a cruise gave $500 onboard credit... buying AKV/SSV at DL gives you the option to be a founding member of GCV.

I'd think about all that too.

We bought from Anaheim and got the $10 off per point, 160 developer points, 2 annual passes for WDW, a leather bound scrapbook in a wooden box, tote bag, DVC hats, and the chance to be a CGV founding member (which we plan to take advantage of with a small add-on). This was in January...not sure if all offers are still valid...
