CAN YOU GUYS TELL ME THE PLUSES OF STAYING OFFSITE??
I used to stay on I Drive, but am considering staying off 192...

OK- I can pay $530.00 for an offsite hotel that will give us

- INDOOR corridors
- FREE Deluxe Breakfast
- 100% satisfaction guaranteed

It is off 192. You have to take (i think) I-4 to get to 192, then it's off that.

I believe that the benefits are:
1. it's a great deal/pricewise, etc. w/ all the above.
2. it's easier to get to and from the car in the parking lot VS a disney hotel where
I have to walk from God knows where to get to the lot.
3. it's a lot closer than i'm used to (used to always stay on I-DRive)

OR SHOULD WE SPEND ANOTHER $700.00 AND GO FOR
Coronado Springs
OR
Caribbean Beach

IF SO, WHICH IS BETTER OF THE 2?

ALSO, HOW MUCH CLOSER are these 2 resort hotels VS the 192 location to the parks???

Thanks!

There's really no one who can answer this question better than yourself. The answer lies in how you want to spend the $700. How important is it to you to rest your head on a WDW pillow?

It's really up to you and what you want your trip to be. There have been times when I only wanted on-site because, maybe we were flying and I didn't want to spend money on a rental car, or it was a special trip for DH and me....whatever.

But I can tell you one thing. Price doesn't rule all. We are staying in a nice 2 bedrm. condo off site in Sept. (and probably next Dec. too if all goes well). It's cheap, yes. But it is also a nice place....Cypress Pointe Grand Villas.

I don't want to stay offsite in a dumpy hotel just because it is $45 a night! Last time we were there, we stayed at WL, so I want our new place to be nice, just cheaper.

Questions for you: Are you flying?? Will you have a rental car if you are?? What month are you going...will you need the pools?? How many of there are you??

These are some things I would need to know to give an opinion. There are times when on-site is maybe the best option, other times, it's off-site.

Hi fairytinkerbell!

I am personally a fan of staying offsite, as I cannot justify paying so much more to stay onsite. I have only stayed onsite once, (Grand Floridian) and I did not find the place was anywhere worth the price of admittance.

I know lots of people will probably disagree with me, but I find the rooms offsite are bigger and include many more amenities at a much cheaper price.

Also, depending on where you stay offsite, there are generally many more options as far as restaurants, grocery stores, etc, and the prices again are much cheaper.

I try to look for an offsite hotel with free shuttle service so that I can avoid the costs of a rental car, gas, parking fees, etc.

We only stay off site when we are doing a mainly "non-Disney trip. We'll do UA, IOA, Sea World, and explore lots of Orlando's little "hidden corners". We'll spend maybe 1 day at MK, but that's all. When we "do" Disney, we like to stay on site.

JMHO:

The pluses to staying offsite:
-Usually a much better price
-Often free breakfast
-Potentially much more room
-Occasionally closer proximity to the parks (yes this is often so!)

Pros to staying onsite at WDW:
-EMH if you can use it (personally we could never make it to the parks this early)
-transporatation if on the monorail loop, otherwise you could jump in the car and be there faster.

On the other hand...
Pros to staying onsite at Universal:
-FOTL access! Disney doesn't come close to this perk!
- Quick WALKING distance to the parks (no car, bus, boat or monorail needed)

I have never stayed onsite at WDW, I always felt it more cost and time efficient to stay off. For Universal, will be going for only our second trip in Sept. Staying onsite again, and probably will never stay off!

I just stayed at CS and wished we hadn't. With so many blisters it was so hard to walk from parking lot to room to restaurant to pool, etc. I am kicking myself for paying all that money for staying onsite. We did not do the early entry, we did however use the bus system for two or three days (I always rent a car). We had to go to I192 a few times and it was only about ten minute drive. We even ate at a few fast food restaurants for about a 1/4 of what you spend on disney site. We are going again in august and I have a room on 192 with a frig and microwave and deluxe continentl breakfast for a very much lower price. It will be so great to walk a few feet from your car to your room. I will never stay on site again.

what hotel are you getting and when are you staying?
I like staying off site cause we get a 2 bedroom condo for around $265 a week(skyauction). There are 5 of us, so Disney would not let us stay in a value, and we would probably kill each other being that close to each other for that long.
For me, the offsite bennies are
cost, space, kitchen, tvs, separate bedrooms

I am an offsite person, did onsite once and it was nice, but cannot jusitfiy the extra expense.

The 192 area is good for a lot of easily accessible chain restaurants and stores, such as Publix, Super Walmart, Walgreens etc....

We get great internet deals on decent hotels for much less than they normally rent for. I consider myself a good budget minded traveller and applaud each dollar I do not give some hotel. This year we have 8 nights in Sept at a good hotel, with free refridge, micro, internet and a decent size pool.

Before you pay that high price for offsite, or even higher onsite do some homework on the internet and see if you can find a better deal for what your travelling party wants and needs...:sunny:
