Benefits of Concierge?

Since you are concierge, it doesn't matter if it takes you longer to to the online check-in. Concierge people do not have to worry about boarding times or port arrival times, which is why so many people get up at 3 am to do online check-in - so that they get an early port arrival time. With concierge, you can arrive and check-in whenever you get there (as long as the terminal is open of course) At PC there is a separate concierge line, towards the back right-hand side of the terminal.

Yes, you will need passport numbers, or at least I think so. I've just always put that information in when I make a reservation to begin with.

You'll need credit card info for each of you, unless you are going to be responsible for you AND her as part of the online check-in is the payment authorization info. But with concierge - waiting to do online check-in is no problem! :goodvibes

i thought i didn't have to worry about it, but i wanted to be sure!!

thanks for all the info!

Can one rebook a concierge room onboard to get the obc or does that not work since deposits are norefundable?

No, you cannot do that as the deposits are non-refundable. I asked once and the booking agent looked into it, but found out that re-shopping does not work because of that issue.

Thanks  I shall wait until September when I am onboard and then if it is meant for me to have that room then the price will be the same!:wizard: If not I have a plan B and C and D :rotfl:

If Rodrigo is on the Dream right now, you'll love him! I know one of the hosts that was there when I was on board in February went to a shoreside position. Not that the other two were not good, it's just that Rodrigo really stood out.

On the Fantasy all three were outstanding. Oh, PJ - love, love, love him! :flower3:

Rodrigo IS on the Dream, along with Tom and Laura. They are a fantastic team!

How big is the oversize balcony on the 1BR? I'm Going with extended family, 7 adults in all. Will we all be able to hang out there if one has the 1BR and the others concierge standard rooms? We'll all be concierge, just not all looking at suites. TIA.

We stayed Concierge (Cat V) on the Fantasy in May with our 4year old and 5 month old...we are truly spoiled now. DH just booked the 2 of us in another Concierge stateroom for our 10 year anniversary in November on the Dream.

Being able to get all our reservations at 120 days was fabulous. We had a Cabana at Castaway Cay, brunch at Palo, Dinner at Remy, nursery reservations and shore excursions. I even needed to switch my Palo and Remy days around on embarkation day (as well as the corresponding nursery ressies) and the Concierge staff made it happen. Julia, PJ and Andy were amazing. My 4 year old is a picky eater and they hunted down PB&J's for her and always made sure we had popcorn to take to the shows. My daughter also tripped and fell down a few stairs in the theater one evening (Julia was with us at the time) and they made sure she was taken care of, bringing Ice Packs, bandaids for her scraped shins, and a Daisy Duck doll to dry her tears! There was even a get well card from Mickey and the Concierge team in our room after the show.

The Concierge lounge was wonderful...nice to find a relaxing and quiet place to sit and have a cappuccino (and the most wonderful machine to make it with) or snacks/desserts. It wasn't uptight either. There was a TV playing Disney cartoons, so kids felt welcome, yet it wasn't a free for all like the pools often feel either. We liked being able to go have a glass of wine in the evening, grab a bottle of water or to go up to the private sundeck.

I can hardly wait until November!! ;)

Oh, I also forgot. We were running late getting to the Port, so the 1st boarding group had already gone on when we checked in. They walked us onto the ship, right up to the photographer, we had our pictures and they handed us off to another CM who took us all the way up to the Concierge Lounge. :cool2:

How big is the oversize balcony on the 1BR? .

I will assume you are asking about Dream class, as the following refers;

Well the normal Cat T balcony is just twice the width as a standard one. The Cat T and V's on the bump out are much larger. The Cat T bump out veranda could hold 7 adults comfortably, although it's unlikely you will have seating for them all. Well maybe; three chairs, two loungers, shared, may accomadate.:thumbsup2 Elbow to elbow it could hold 20 easily, if the structure allows that.:lmao:
The deck 11 balconies are actually a few feet deeper than deck 12, whether on the bump or not, however they are somewhat enclosed with the solarium type roof. I'm surprised they didn't place a Cat T in the middle of the bump out, that would have been suite.;)

Sorry to jump in on this thread but I haven't found the answer anywhere else and don't want to start another thread.

Is there any benefit to booking concierge on board? I know you don't get any discounts on concierge or OBC. Do you still get the reduced deposit though?

you don't get the OBC?
i thought you do get the OBC, but not the discount..

I may be mistaken about the OBC. I have never booked or done concierge before. But for my DW's 40th birthday I want to surprise her with a concierge room. We leave in a few weeks on a Disney cruise so trying to figure out if I should just book it now or wait until the cruise. If there is no benefit whatsoever of booking on the cruise, then why wait?

You get the OBC for booking on board, no 10% off, not sure about deposit.

so if you book onboard you will get the OBC...
and if you list DU as your travel agent when you book on board, you'll get both the OBC and the full DU credit.

Thanks for the info. I guess I can wait two weeks to book onboard. Hopefully the prices don't change for the date I have in mind! We have used DU for the las two cruises we did. The first Disney cruise we did was a free 7 day cruise that we received when we bought into DVC. Have now booked onboard twice since then. First the Mouse hooked us on his parks/hotels, then his cruises, and likely his concierge level next!

Once you book a suite, it's the 20% deposit, not 10%, whether on board or not. We never book a future concierge cruise on board. We just book the dummy date for the OBC in an inside stateroom. Then when we know the cruise we want, we move the dummy date to a suite and keep the OBC. This allows for a better cancellation policy if we want to move/change the date. And, then we don't owe DCL the extra $$ in deposits until we are reasonably sure which cruise we are taking. Of course, if we were sure of the cruise we wanted, we would just book that, but we've changed our minds too many times, and who knows when DCL will no longer allow you to move concierge dates anymore.

We had a one bedroom with a "bump out" balcony. There are only four chairs, but room for three others to stand. The balcony doors open into the living room and dinning area. The staterooms aren't huge, but ample room to "hang out".

You can go to AARP travel and the site will show, how many suites are available for your date. This may help you make a decision..book now or wait.

Suite, indeed, Bear3412 :rotfl:

I've never done concierge before. Some of my more frugal family members are balking at the cost of concierge, so I'm hoping one of you can help with a few "elite vs steerage" (my brother's viewpoint) questions. Can my frugal family members come visit me in my suite? I don't expect them to be allowed to use the lounge. Could they join me on the sun deck? Can I use my concierge status to reserve Palo for the whole group and maybe a cabana on CC? I'm retired military so I'm good at rules. I truly don't want to break them, I just don't know what they are. I need to manage expectations--mine and the frugal folks ;).
