I've been thinking of getting AAA for the benefit of having the AAA rate for our trip in September...but I'm thinking that what I would save is actually the cost of getting AAA. Are there any other benefits using it down there? Other than roadside assistance, I already have that included when I purchased my car...so that isn't really a necessity....So, what other benefits are there for it?
Thanks!!!

i know you can save on some of the disney resorts not sure of anything else

There aren't too many other benefits to AAA for Disney World other than the room discount...unless your AAA offers a great price on park tickets. Some AAAs offer great park ticket prices and some don't even carry them.

If you are driving, you can get free maps and a free Triptik (a bound map booklet specific to your trip with points of interest and local contact numbers for emergencies along the drive).

They do offer insurance (car, home, etc.) to members. When we lived in Utah, we had AAA insurance and found the service to be good when we had a claim.

Also, most other hotels offer AAA discounts and there are discounts for stores, restaurants, etc. You may want to log onto http://www.aaa.com and enter in your local zip code to find out some of the benefits for you locally.

Are you driving to Disney? If so, AAA offers a Diamond parking pass. The pass allows you to park in Diamond parking -- which is usually near handicapped at the parks. This is only if the Diamond area isn't full. Last week, we were able to park in Diamond at MK and AK. This allowed us to not take the tram (we have a double stroller and toddlers and it is easier to walk to main gates) bec. we parked so close. This was the only tangible AAA benefit.....

If you are driving you can get discounts on hotels also. When we drove down in April I happened to get a coupon out of one of my AAA books that I got with my triptik. The coupon was for a ramada limited hotel in Fayeteville NC for 40 dollars for the night. The normal rate was 84.00. I also use my card at Payless Shoes for a discount and various other stores also.

No, we are flying and then relying on Magical Express and Disney transportation to get us around.

Oh, thanks for the tip on a hotel discount, will look out for that one!

They give a discount at certain stores, I think they're listed on the site. We got a fantastic auto insurance rate through them. I'd been pricing it with various online companies. AAA quoted one of the same carriers I had gotten a quote from but it was cheaper from AAA - enough that the savings alone covered our annual membership plus a little. And that's on top of the few hundred it saved over our current auto insurance! I had been thinking of dropping it for lack of using it but that convinced me to hang on to it. Haven't had them quote our home ins. yet but hoping for similar savings.

If you have credit cards, check their benefits too. We got a better rate on a home equity line of credit from AmEx than we did from our bank. It definitely pays to check around w/places you have membership.

We used AAA insurance for our homeowners and auto insurance and saved about $150 this year, more than enough to pay for the membership. We also get a 5% discount for our Cingular service, which helps a bit. Lately we've purchased discount movie tickets and discount tickets to our local minor league baseball team games. Today we received discounted admission to a local museum, too.

While we rarely use the AAA card for Disney stuff (although it will come in handy for our upcoming DL trip), we find the other savings make it worth having. I have the Gold AAA card, which also gives up to 100 miles of towing; this has come in handy with my DH's troublesome Focus!
