Hi There, we booked our vacation through the Disney Travel Company months ago. We leave in 3 weeks. Is it worth phoning our resort (All Star Sports) directly to confirm our reservation, room preferences and that there will be a fridge in our room. Somehow I'm thinking this might give us a better chance of getting what we have requested. Thanks for any advice you may have.

I'm not too sure about the answer. But I can tell you from everything I have read your resort will not have any of your information until a minimum of 5 days out from your departure. Sometimes more like 3-4 days. So if you want to do this you might what until about 3 days before arrival and just call and talk to them.
Good luck!

Think about this for a minute. The values are the biggest(in terms of capacity) of all the Disney resorts, they handle loads of check-ins everyday. Phone contact with one person may or may not be connected to your reservation. The front desk does not assign your room, room assigners in the back of the house do this. You best bet is too keep your request simple and straight forward, the more you ask for the more you limit the possible room assignment, so the lower your chance of getting it. Make sure you request is on your ressie, you will have to do this through your TA since at this point the agency owns your ressie and Disney won't handle anything through you, only your agent. When you check in confirm with the CM your request, if it hasn't already been fufllied by the room assigners, the CM can check and see if something to suit your request has since become available and make then change then, if nothing is available, then nothing is available. Disney tries very hard to honor requests and many times they can, unfortunatly sometimes it is impossible.

Most likely you aren't going to be talking with the resort. Your call will go to a call center.

So is the consensus that its not worth it to call? Sometimes, I suppose, something like that can make it worse, not better.

We're checking into POR on Sunday...and I did have a bunch of requests. I was thinking of calling today to make sure those had "made it" to the resort...

I did NOT call in my requests to ASMu this past august and didn't confirm with my TA that the requests had been made. . .I let the CM at checkin know my requests and, because there was availability, they were honored. . .my requests were very simple though. . .no pool view rooms and connecting rooms if possible. . .there were 4 adults and one minor. The requests were honored. The NO pool view was easy, we didn't pay preferred so that is normally not a view you would get anyway. The second one was honored only because we didn't want a pool view. . .my reasoning for not wanting a pool view? we were going in August. . .the pool would be noisy until late because of the heat. It worked perfectly for us. My thoughts are that you just let your requests be known to Disney travel. Restate them at checkin and hope for the best. Remember that you nearly always get what you pay for, anything else is just icing. . .and be sweet as sugar when you check in. Nice people like dealing with nice people. .its a fact of life.
