Holy crap! I moved a few thousand miles and now there are 96 pages in a new thread?:scared1:

I miss my boozies. Hopefully I'll have time to catch up a bit in the next few days!!

:welcome: home!

I hope they send that out too. I'm wondering if that F&W website is the only way to book it. I can't log in, it's not accepting my regular login name & I can't find a place to register for the site.

I am guessing you won't be able to register until Wednesday.

Should anyone feel the need, I just posted an update on the blog about our baseball experience last weekend. No food porn so you may not be all that interested but I just felt like doing something a little different.

The next couple of posts will go back to food and booze ...

I've got a review of Schlafley's Tap Room (meh)

A review of Thursday night's wine tasting / Reidel glass experience (six thumbs up!)

And will have a review coming soon of the wine / chocolate / jazz thingy we'll be attending next weekend.

Thanks! :goodvibes
The kids go back to school tomorrow, so hopefully I'll have time to catch up on everything, including your blog :goodvibes

I'M A RUINER!!! :sad2::headache::sad2:

My raspberry-brie puffs are charred beyond all recognition ... I let Jay talk me into turning on the broiler to brown them up and now they are black wontons loaded with burnt preserves and gloppy cheese. :rotfl2:

I should have known better.
:scared1::sad2: so sad, they sounded really good

I am waiting with bated breath for my older DD to arrive safe and sound at her home in Massachusetts. She left here at 7:45 this morning and has driven straight through with only one break for bathroom, food and gas.

She is driving her 1996 Neon that she had left with us 18 months ago. It is in very good mechanical shape so we were not too worried about it. We have run it around town off and on but weren't sure how it would react to a major road trip. I have to say it has lived up to the challenge. With one small exception: the speedometer doesn't work when she goes over 45. She has traveled on interstates the whole way and has just stayed with traffic so it has not been an issue. But methinks Massachusetts law will require a working speedometer for registration purposes! ::yes:: (although it passed VA inspection last week so we assume it either is not checked here or they never rev it up over 45!)

Hope she makes it home safe & sound and that you had a great visit

Just got this in an email:

Epcot® International Food & Wine Festival offers Tables in Wonderland Member discounts

Tables in Wonderland Members have a special opportunity to purchase discounted advance tickets to the culinary demonstrations and wine/beverage seminars at the Epcot® International Food & Wine Festival, taking place September 25 - November 8, 2009.

Beginning Wednesday August 26, a limited number of discounted tickets will be available for Tables in Wonderland Members to purchase online in advance of the general public. The discounted rate is $5 a person (regularly $8 a person) while they last. (Events are expected to sell out.) Please note that the discount won't be available at the event, so advance purchase is required to get the discounted rate. Discounted tickets, if available, may be purchased until 24 hours before the start of any individual session.

The culinary demonstrations and wine/beverage seminars, which last about 45 minutes, let participants learn from featured chefs and wine presenters, pick up a few tips and taste the featured items. Everyone must have a ticket to attend, and attendees must be 21 years of age or older to consume alcoholic beverages.

There is a link in the email that leads you to a page where you can register, but the registration cannot be completed yet apparently, because the link on that page does not yet work.

There is also a plug for the PFTS so I am thinking they might not be going so well... no discount.

And...

Culinary Adventure Signature Dining

A highly acclaimed chef collaborates with the resident chef of a top Disney restaurant to create a truly magical and memorable meal. A representative from one or more hosting wineries will present accompanying wines for each dinner.

In addition to the Signature Dining Events already listed on the Festival Guide, please note the addition of the following dinner: Thursday October 8th at 5:30 pm at the Wolfgang Puck Grand Café at Downtown Disney West Side with Chef Wolfgang Puck. $125.00 per person, plus tax, gratuity included. Theme park admission is not required.

Where's my email? I didn't get one, but I did get my 3rd Mickey Monitor today :confused3

Welcome home! :dance3:

The last few days have been crazy. Jon upgraded my laptop to Windows 7yesterday :thumbsup2 No more Vista :yay::banana: but it took most of the day to do it. Today was spent shopping for the right outfit to wear the 1st day of school. It was a very long day, but I think they're both set. Once the kids are back in school I'm hoping that I'll get more done; like uploading pics tomorrow of dinner & sangria from the other night.

BTW, we are working on our F&W plans, DH is planning to call tomorrow to try and get DVC ressies we're using holding points, so it'll be interesting to see what we can get.

Did y'all see that the Candlelight Processional package tiers/pricing are out? Prices are pretty similar to what we paid last year I believe but the 2 TS credits is new :scared1: They are adding Illuminations viewing area to the package. I guess 2 credits isn't horrible for the $60 meal at LeCellier or Tutto, but Biergarten? Mexico?

Hope she makes it home safe & sound and that you had a great visit

She did and we did, thanks!

Where's my email? I didn't get one, but I did get my 3rd Mickey Monitor today :confused3

And even when I have a valid AP we never get MMs... go figure! :confused3 :rotfl:

And good luck tomorrow with both the first day of school and F&W plans! :thumbsup2

So, with this TiW discount ... is it possible to ask someone nicely to buy tickets for you if your own TiW has expired and you can't get a new one until October 14th? :rolleyes1

If it's a non-transferrable thing like the F&W events then never mind, but otherwise ... how does it work? Are they actually going to mail you a hard ticket for the seminar?

I'm off to the trenches now so if someone can fill me in so that I can catch up tonight that would be great.

I can even tell you which ones I'm eyeballing ...

October 17th: Wine Seminar 12PM (Moet & Chandon)
October 23rd: Spirit Seminar 3:45PM (Chopin Vodka)

If anyone can help please let me know ... as long as I'm not asking anyone to do anything that's ... "illegal." And if not, no big deal ... we'll just spend that money somewhere else. :goodvibes

So far, as far as I can tell, we don't know the answer to that! I will be interested in knowing too. Tomorrow will be an interesting day.

Have I been under a rock and completely missed that the new La Cava Tequila thing was going to be more than tequila tasting? I knew it was going to continue, but didn't know they would be serving more than that.
.

Thanks for the info on that!! I had no idea it was going to be that extensive...sounds awesome! :thumbsup2

Hope everyone had a nice weekend..i was "computerless" yesterday due to a server failure at work..so all day i was waiting for the big square machine to be up and running so i could Dis..ok, and work...that is what they pay me for anyway.. :)

Brenda, Really have no idea as to how it's going to work. I'm hoping the link actually works tomorrow! But I will try & if you'd like me to pick up some for you I will. Send me a pm or email.

B,

IMPROVGAL on the F&W Thread wrote that she spoke with the TIW people and they said the registration will open up not only to TIW card holders but also AP holders and DVC members.

This is on the Food and Wine 2009 Board-

Advance (and discounted) registration for events

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just spoke to a CM at TiW and asked if I would be able to use the advance registration site tomorrow if I renewed today over the phone since my TiW membership lapsed.

She told me that when the site goes live tomorrow (and unfortunately did not have the go-live time information available) it will be live for TiW members, ANNUAL PASSHOLDERS, and DISNEY VACATION CLUB members as well. Apparently the Passholder email (and I'm guessing DVC communication) has not yet gone out but should go out today or tomorrow.

Hope it's true since our card has run dry till we get the new one in Oct.!

Gina - Sounds like a really fun shower last weekend. You must be so excited!

Thanks to both you and Jeanne for the update. Unfortunately, our APs and our TiW cards won't be renewed until we get to WDW in October. I guess we will be out of luck with the advance booking. Unless you don't need to enter your numbers, just show the correct card when checking in. :confused3

Be cautious - I am not sure if they will have the other person's name associated with the reservation.

Check the F&W thread on the restaurant board - there is information (from Disney for what that's worth) that this registration on the website will also pertain to DVC members and annual passholders.

Just got back in town, we made a quick trip to Ft. Lauderdale. I'll get busy and backread through today.
I saw on the Food and Wine thread Wolfgang Puck's Signature Dinner is going to happen after all. I called today and was very lucky to get us a reservation. :cool1:

Good to be back-I missed reading what's new with the friendies!

Gin

Very jealous about the Springsteen ticket!

Tonights the night!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

A fun drive all the way up 95. I hope she's made it home by now.
I doubt she'll have trouble passing inspection on the speedometer since they don't rev it up very high and just about everything is computerized. I've got to get mine inspected this month.

My car failed here in NY for a cracked tail light... $218 later... I finally passed... :headache: (of course it was cracked for the last 4 years...)

Elin she is probably just stuck in traffic up in Jersey or something. You can't go over 45 on the highway up there anyway because of the freakin traffic. Even on weekends.

& you wonder why I moved...

DD is safely docked at her mother-ship. :goodvibes

:dance3: :dance3:

Watching the Iron Chef is making me HUNGRY. Not eating though. I am thinking I should at least try keeping my weight down in anticipation of the Disney foodfest. But I would like everything Cat Cora is making and most of what the challenger is making (liver custard...naaah) for Battle Maple Syrup.

I suddenly had a taste for pancakes with that one... :goodvibes

Now if you could only solve the mystery that is "dinning". That's my biggest pet peeve, and I see it all the time.

I get Diner and Dinner mixed up all the time... :sad2:

ahhhhhhhhhhh... never watched the movie so it makes sense I wouldn't "get it" :lmao: Thanks for the ejukashun.

Want to know something funny??? I tried to read that one backwards... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Evian, I am... :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Have I been under a rock and completely missed that the new La Cava Tequila thing was going to be more than tequila tasting? I knew it was going to continue, but didn't know they would be serving more than that.

From AllEars:

New La Cava del Tequila Serves Up Tastes of Mexican Tequila Heritage

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – La Cava del Tequila is the newest opportunity for Epcot guests to explore the tastes of an international culture – in this case, the heritage and tradition of tequila-making in Mexico. Opening early September at the Mexico pavilion in World Showcase, La Cava del Tequila offers more than 70 types of authentic tequila, ranging from the simplest to the rarest of them all, aged to perfection and made from the finest distilled spirits from the agave plant.

Amid décor, art work and original artifacts all celebrating the Mexican heritage, a “Tequila Ambassador” will educate Walt Disney World guests on the history of tequila-making.

Also on the drink menu: Exotic and uniquely blended margaritas, introducing a variety of flavored salts, spices and tropical fresh fruits masterfully prepared by experienced mixologists. A variety of quick tastes, tapas style, will be available, including freshly made guacamole, home-fried fresh corn chips, salsas, ceviches and tostadas.

I wonder if they will be selling real Disney shot glasses or will we have to still put up with their "toothpick holders..." :rotfl:

Ah yes ... Jay and I are really looking forward to finally having a reason to hang out in Mexico. We saw that update a while back on All Ears and are very excited! :cool1:

Jay and Bendy will be laying down outside of Mexico with a nice buzz on... :goodvibes

I am so excited about real Margaritas too. I can't stand the ones they serve at the kiosk in front of the Mexico pavillion.:crazy2: They taste so metallic or something. If I want to taste metal, I'll make out with a robot, thank you very much.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

What?! I didn't receive an email! Thanks so much for posting this info!:worship: Now I have to get my book out & take a look at those demos & seminars again.

I like your email so much better than mine. I just received this one "How to Avoid Vacation Weight Gain" from WeightWatchers!:rotfl2:

I got that too... like they're trying to tell me something???

I sent a friend request to "our" Planky, not "flat Planky"....:rotfl:

Another here that is annoyed with "dinning"!

So did I!

The little green furry butt thanks you very much!!!! He's trying to get more friends than I have... (AND... HE'S STARTED A FARM!!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2) :)

Holy crap! I moved a few thousand miles and now there are 96 pages in a new thread?:scared1:
