Now that sounds delicious! I can't drink red wine (makes me wheezy), so this would be great!

I really can't wait for everyone's pictures of Kouzzina in Oct.--it's on my plan for the first night now. It's looking like we're going to do the Christmas party, so I'm moving things around on my little spreadsheet. And I'm old school....pencil and paper! :rotfl:

I'm a pen and paper girl, too. :) We've booked Kouzzina for our last dinner. I'll post a bit about it when we get back. Should be fun!

Foodies, Have you seen this blog.
It has photos of some of the dishes from Kouzzina's. The whole red snapper maybe authentic Greek but I don't think I'd want to mess with it ... the bones and all. :scared: Just give me the meat!

Yeah, I really don't like to work for my food....I'm just too lazy! :lmao: So in addition to whole fish, I also avoid rotisserie chicken, whole turkeys, and unpeeled shrimp. The only exception I make for meat on the bone are chicken wings and ribs!

OK! This can be made with a red wine too. You can eliminate the raspberries for the red wine. Oooh! I bet cherries would be good in the red version! See... it is not really a recipe. sorry... :flower3:

Elin's Sangria

1 bottle of dry white wine (I like a picpoul or a pinot gris/grigo)
1 lemon, thinly sliced
1 lime, thinly sliced
1 orange, thinly sliced
1 small basket of raspberries (if I can get them)
triple sec
seltzer or soda

Put all the fruit in a large pitcher and add about a 1/4 cup of sugar. Muddle the fruits with the sugar to extract all the juices you can. Add the wine and a healthy splash of triple sec. Put it in the refrigerator and let the flavors mix. Just before serving I pour in some flavored seltzer. Not sweetened, just 0-calorie, 0-sodium seltzer. I like orange, lemon or lime, but I bet raspberry would also be good! It makes it a little fizzy and enhances the refreshment factor!

I think that is my recipe. If you have any questions, or suggestions, let me know!

Elin, you are like an angel from heaven....how did you know that I've been looking for a white sangria recipe? All the ones I've found online involve peaches and nectarines...both of which I can't stand....so I am so excited to find one that involves citrus and berries instead. I am going to substitute my unused bottle of Prosecco from the baby shower for the wine and seltzer....I'll let you know how it turns out!

FINALLY...

Got caught up on a weeks worth of emails... and now I'm going to go back ONLY 10 pages and try and catch up... :scared1:

I thank you ALL very kindly for my birthday greetings... I have some food porn to show - I will go see if I can shake my computer and upload some pictures...

I just entered a sweeps on the Disney.com passholder site to win a night's stay in the Cinderella Castle suite on December 11th, 2009.

Since I'm already staying at BCV on December 10-14, I figured I had to enter this sweeps! Wish me luck. :wizard:

Hmmmm... I could join you... ;)

Good Luck Lori - I'll be crossing my fingers for you :thumbsup2

Hi Friendies!

I've been MIA for a little while - between vacation and my mother-in-law going to the emergency room (she's out now and getting better) I just haven't had time to comment.

And now - terrible news - my work has blocked all Message Board web sites :scared1:

This will significantly cut down on my DIS time - I would check my subscriptions during my morning caffeine break - but I will still try to check in from home!

Hope everyone's doing well and getting ready for their F&W trips - I'm lving vicariously through you all!

I feel your pain ... about the message boards. My company started blocking the DIS about a year ago and it drives me crazy that I can't check on my lunch hour (I almost always eat at my desk). It makes it hard to catch up at night ... sometimes I just read and don't comment.

Glad you checked in with us and I'm glad to hear your MIL is doing better. It's been a bad year, it seems, for a lot of people.

Tomorrow night Jay and I are supposed to attend that fancy wine tasting where we will learn about how wine tastes differently depending on the glass it's served in.

Some friends of ours are attending too ... since I pimped the event to them a few weeks ago after learning about it.

And then last night Jay says, "I'm working late Thursday night so ---- can leave early on his vacation."

:scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

:headache::headache::headache:

"Jaaaaaaaay," responds the wife in a decidedly whiny tone of voice. "We're supposed to go to that wine dealie at Provisions Thursday night. I booked it because you don't work late on Thursdays, remember?"

So ... here we is. I have become the third wheel for tomorrow evening's event. :rotfl2:

The thing that I'm debating is whether or not to pay for Jay's "place" so that the three of us can have extra wine tomorrow night during the event and so that Jay and I will have a matching set of glasses. :confused3

Oh well ... if this is the worst thing that I have to complain about (and it really is) then I have nothing at all to complain about. I'm just bummed because it won't be nearly as much fun without him. I wonder if I should take along a snapshot so that I can take a self portrait with a portrait? :rotfl2:

Happy birthday Michelle! :cool1: Glad you're feeling better.

Thanks Bendy!!!

Maybe 'Limited' is the same as saying 'When its gone its gone, sorry folks'!
Roughly 5 1/2 weeks until the first Party and they can't answer the question, ay carumba!

My first post on Bendy and her fabulous foodie friendies thread! A rite of passage I'm sure ... I think a luncheon Bloody Mary is in order!

She's drinkin already!!!! :lmao:

Happy Birthday!!!!:cool1::cool1:

You picked a good day to be born, August 17 is my anniversery:cool1::cool1: DH and I were married 34 years ago and we still talk to each other:lmao:

We are going to dinner at Carlos, we have never been there before but have heard great things. http://www.carlos-restaurant.com/cuisine/degustation.html

Happy Anniversary!!! & yes... August 17th is a very cool day...:banana:

Sue - HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! Your dinner menu looked delish! Can't wait to hear about it.

Michelle - loved the video. It was you having the birthday, right? Today? ;)

I can't remember... :rotfl2:

Hey Bendy...

Glad your coffee maker worked... I did the very same thing but with a dishwasher and didn't find out until the guy installing it flipped the switch... :rolleyes1

BTW... did the eagle land and aren't you wondering why I slipped a buck in there like I was tippin a stripper??? :scared1:

Err, now that you mention it I did wonder. But then I figured you were doped out of your mind and didn't realize what you'd done. :lmao:

a reasonable explanation would be postage, but I'm not reasonable, now am I? :upsidedow

Anyone here catch the lineup of the next Dancing with the Stars?

I thought the foodies would love to know that the "Chairman" of Iron Chef America is participating! :rotfl2:

I think it's hilarious. And I hope he does well.

I'm afraid of seeing Tom Delay in those skin tight pants and bright orange... :scared1:

all I know is I feel sorry for the folks on the phone who have to tell the frantic guests calling in trying to get Le Cellier CP packages (who haven't heard the rumors) that it's going to cost them 2 credits each.

I don't know why they just don't suck it in and make Le Cellier a 2 credit meal... then nobody will want to go there and I might actually be able to get into the darned place!!!

I can't believe I have missed this much. I feel so lost.:confused3

We found you... :goodvibes

Sounds great! Now I just need to go to the grocery store, get orange, lemon, lime, raspberries and some wine

Would that be the upside down computer :upsidedow or an etch-a-sketch :lmao:

glad you're back :goodvibes

Computer is right side up... Nephew laughed and then fixed it for me... apparently there is a glitch in XP that lets you do it by mistake... they use it in high schools to get others into trouble... pranks etc...

Take Plankton... :thumbsup2 He's a lush...

I guess that makes two of us. :lmao: Actually Jay asked me if Plankton had been snorting pixie dust when the rolled bill popped outta the card. :lmao:

Where do you think that big smile comes from??? It ain't the ben & jerry's in the freezer... :woohoo:

Alrighty... I just read through the last 10 pages to get up to speed and I've noticed that all you people do is gab............gab gab............gab gab....(and drink...:goodvibes)
