Having a brain toot here..(yes, we are trying to weed the word "fart" out of our family vocabulary. :rotfl2:)

We have a 40% off code for our room and our friends' room for our trip in Dec. Can they add the dining plan and tickets and make it a package? Or does it have to be kept room only?

Oh, and Elin, thought I would share that I think I finally found dd a piano teacher today! We are going to meet her tomorrow night and we're very excited--dd has been wanting to start piano for two years.

What the h e l l is wrong with your friends?!?!?!? :upsidedow

Seriously, your menu looks wonderful and I would love the French Toast recipe, but I would have been drinking Mimosas beCAUSE it was 95 in the shade! ;)

It sounds terrific ... and I still would have had one of your mimosas ... heat or no heat! :thumbsup2

Well, other than a few former co-workers who still work with the mom-to-be, I didn't really know many of the folks who came. They are mostly her neighbors, and I know that they all had small kids at home, so that may have had something to do with their decision to not drink. And while I personally felt that the absence of my own children was reason for a celebratory drink, I felt like I might get quite a few odd stares for opening the prosecco for just myself!

Elin, here's the recipe for the Caramel French Toast Casserole.....

1 c. packed light brown sugar
1/2 c. light colored corn syrup
1/4 c. butter
Cooking spray
10 (1 oz) slices French bread (soft bread....like Pepperidge Farms Soft French)
2 1/2 c. 1% low-fat milk (I actually used skim when I made it and it turned out fine)
1 tbsp. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 tsp. salt
2 large eggs
2 tbsp. granulated sugar
1 tsp. ground cinnamon

Combine first 3 ingredients in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat 5 minutes or until mixture is bubbly, stirring constantly. Pour mixture evenly into a 13 x 9 inch baking dish coated with cooking spray.

Arrange bread slices in a single layer over syrup in dish. (I actually did two layers because I couldn't fit all 10 oz of bread in one layer, and it worked fine).

Combine milk and next 4 ingredients (through eggs) in a large bowl, stirring with a whisk. Pour egg mixture over bread slices. Cover and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Combine granulated sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle evenly over bread.

Bake at 350 for 50 minutes or until golden. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.

I am so making this when I'm signed up to bring breakfast for Sunday School at the end of the month! It sounds so good and looks so easy! Thanks for the recipe.

He's having a blast. They have done some visits to local farms and he's regaled me with tales from some of his lectures, which include in depth analysis of salt and herbs at the moment. (That just sounds SOOOO exciting, doesn't it?) :rotfl: The poor child has been subjected to eating low class college food. :rolleyes1 So far his dinners have included black bass bouillabaisse, grilled shrimp, beef on some sugared skewers, korean BBQ ribs, foie gras with poached pear and scallops au gratin. Those are what I can recall off the top of my head although there is much more. Quite a change from the meals they offered when I was at college. I think he is relishing being on his own. He has a room all to himself so he feels like a king. Meanwhile, I'm a home feeling as though my right arm has been cut off. :sad1:

What??? No mystery meat???

I was having issues posting last night, just testing. :)

All clear!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I'm going to be up at 5AM, when Jay gets up for work, and will be making myself a nice pot of coffee. I will be calling at 6AM CST so the coffee should have me alert enough to know what I'm doing ... I think. ;)

We're tying for the following:

Bluezoo dinner 10/16
Tutto Italia pairing 10/17
Tequila Tasting 10/23

Flying Fish dinner 10/15 will be our second signature dinner choice if we can't nab Todd's joint.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!! :goodvibes

I'm hoping to snag a dog at Caseys followed by a funnel cake and maybe an ice cream sandwich at Main St. before grabbing a large pretzel (deeply depressed because they don't have the Mickey pretzels at WDW...) and will retire to my little hovel with my iced tea I will have gotten in my all you can swig cup...

BUTTON BUTTON BUTTON ......

I just want to be sure that everyone who requeted that I mail their buttons has actually received them. There are a couple of people I haven't received payment from and I want to be sure there hasn't been a delivery or quality issue.

Thanks! :goodvibes

Well, you know my answer... and the check IS in the mail...

I had Prosecco on hand for mimosas, but no one was really up for them....it could have been because by the time the shower started at 11:00 it was already 95 in the shade!

SERVE IT CHILLED!!!!...

Tell me about it... don't they know you have to stay hydrated in that kind of heat??? :lmao:

Thanks, Brenda. Kick me off here. Now!

BYE.... :wave2::wave2::wave2::wave2::wave2:

This thread moves so quick so I'm just trying to catch up. Hope everyone had a good weekend:goodvibes

Good luck to everyone trying to get F&W events tomorrow morning. I pretty much have decided I'm not going to do any:sad1: All of the ones I was really interested in were not happening when I'm going to be there so I think I'm going to pass and just enjoy the booths and my ADRs. Didn't want to spend so much money on something I was just not that excited about.

I've been busy trying to get ready for my trip this Wed:cool1: Can't believe it's so close. Just have to get through one more day of work! Here's our ADR line up:

8/12 Paradiso 37
8/14 CRT dinner
8/15 Jiko
8/16 Garden Grill
8/17 Illuminations dinner/dessert Grand Gathering event
8/18 Mama Melrose Fantasmic package
8/19 Crystal Palace dinner, Wishes Dessert Party:banana:
8/20 Cape May Cafe dinner
8/21 Sanaa lunch

It's an interesting mix, and hopefully there's something that will please everyone (there are 8 of us -- 4 kids and 4 adults) and there are quite a few places that are new to me and I'm looking forward to trying them. The one I'm least excited about is Mama Melrose. We can get great Italian food around here and I've read some not so great reviews of it. I guess I will just chalk it up to getting a seat at Fantasmic:rolleyes1 Does anyone have any recent reviews?

We're also doing the Keys to the Kingdom tour on Friday and seeing La Nouba on Saturday. We're definitely going to be busy -- I think I'm going to need a vacation from my vacation when I get back :rotfl:

Got the button and it looks great! Let me know if you didn't get my check.:goodvibes

So you understand :thumbsup2 She actually almost died 3 years ago, had the colostomy put in during emergency surgery, had MRSA, had reversal surgery, it failed, had new colostomy put in........It's been a long rough road. She's feeling ok now, except for the hour or 2 after she eats.

Brenda, headed over to the gastropod for your sushi review :goodvibes

Glad to hear your MIL is on the mend:)

I've got a little food porn for you guys....here's a few shots of the table I laid out for the baby shower I threw this weekend. I ended up cutting back on what I was going to prepare as I got a lot of cancellations this week and didn't want to end up with a lot of leftovers.

Elin, here's the recipe for the Caramel French Toast Casserole.....

1 c. packed light brown sugar
1/2 c. light colored corn syrup
1/4 c. butter

The pictures look great and that recipe sounds fabulous. I have similar french toast overnight recipe but I'll have to try this one next time:thumbsup2

Robin, you ADR lineup sounds really interesting. I can't wait to hear about Paradiso 37 and your grand gathering dessert party. :thumbsup2

Your check arrived with no problemo ... glad to hear that the button arrived safely. :goodvibes

Well, in keeping with the tradition of Southern baby showers, I went heavy on the casseroles! Plus, I could prepare them all the night before and just pop 'em in the oven in the AM....made it so much easier!

I made Caramel French Toast Casserole (ironically, this was a Cooking Light recipe, but the one I got the most compliments on!), Sausage, Cheddar and Egg Strata, Crustless Zucchini Egg Quiche, Hashbrown Casserole, fresh fruit with a cream cheese dip, a danish ring, mini cinnamon rolls, and mini muffins. And no, I did not make any of the baked goods.....one of the mom-to-be's other friends brought the mini muffins and I bought all of the others at Costco.

I had Prosecco on hand for mimosas, but no one was really up for them....it could have been because by the time the shower started at 11:00 it was already 95 in the shade!

Your the photos and your menu are just amazing! What a lovely shower it must have been. :goodvibes

Don't yell at me... they are done!

:yay: For piano teachers and new recipes and upcoming trips. The Friendies are doing well tonight!

Unfortunately, yes I do. Its a very depressing and medically intense thing to deal with. MRSA is nothing to fool around with and I can't imagine having that on top of everything else. I'm sending good thoughts your MIL's way.

95 in the shade is even more of a reason to start downing the mimosas...or maybe its just me (and Brenda). :drinking1

Thanks for posting the recipe. I was eyeballing that in your photos. I'm going to have to try this out soon.

I actually have a bunch of pictures from stuff I did in school that I would love to get online, but that was my pre-digital days, and I'm not able to scan them on.

I don't cook anymore professionally though, at least not at the moment. I do some catering sometimes on the side, but that's only for friends and family when they have parties and such, nothing major.

Its good to have a professional around! Now I know whose brain to pick when it comes to the culinary stuff and my son looks at me crosseyed (and he does that a lot). I understand about the pics-I have tons from BD (before digital) that I always mean to scan but its such a pain in the butt.

Good luck to everyone trying to get F&W events tomorrow morning. I pretty much have decided I'm not going to do any:sad1: All of the ones I was really interested in were not happening when I'm going to be there so I think I'm going to pass and just enjoy the booths and my ADRs. I know what you mean. This year we nixed pretty much everything and it will even be the first year we kick PFTS to the curb. I'm not terribly excited over anyone or anything they are offering this year so no reason to part with my cold hard cash. We are only trying for bluezoo because Drew likes Todd English. I could totally do without him.

I've been busy trying to get ready for my trip this Wed:cool1: Can't believe it's so close. Just have to get through one more day of work! Here's our ADR line up:

We are spoiled with good Italian in NJ, aren't we? I haven't been to Mama Melrose either, but lately I've heard some pretty good reviews. I'll be interested to hear about your time at Paradiso 37 and Sanaa because those are both ones I want to try. I also want to hear your take on KTTK tour. We always mean to do it, but never get around to it. Have fun!:goodvibes

I'm so keyed up about tomorrow morning that I'm not even sure I can sleep tonight.

Me too-until I downed two glasses of Merlot. Now I'm ready for Lala Land. It helps I didn't have dinner (what can I say-the cheese curls did not do it for me this evening). I'm off to bed. Good luck ladies and happy dialing! I'll post in the morning if we get our dinner with Todd.

Good luck to everyone tomorrow - please be sure to come back here and let the rest of us know how you did. Even if someone else nabs something that Jay and I aren't able to, I'd like to be able to share the food-&-wine joy with you. :goodvibes

I'm so keyed up about tomorrow morning that I'm not even sure I can sleep tonight.

"I'm too excited to sleep!"

But really, this is the part I hate about trying to call Disney Dining. The panic about calling right at 7am for some reservations. I made an exchange deal with a friend. I would call to add her to the event I want to book first, and she will add me to the event she'd book first. I'm hoping we're both successful!

Worst case scenario, I get shut out. I'll just try to eat at Kouzzina one of the nights and perhaps Sanaa another night.

Chelle: I'm glad your MIL is ok.

And Heather, I would totally want a mimosa and some of that french toast. :cloud9:

I trust you... ;)

Sorta like staying up until Midnight to watch the DCL website crash... fishies anyone??? :fish::fish::fish::fish::fish:

So what does the bank think you are doing with all these Disney themed checks???

Well, if you are referring to the bank I work for, I don't use them for my personal transactions. I know that people think it's weird that I don't use the employee options they provide, but I have two reasons for doing what I do:

1) Privacy (don't need my employer sticking their nose into my personal life any more than they already do and all banks monitor their employee accounts due to internal controls and fraud prevention)
2) My credit union offers everything that we need for free anyway, without the hassle of suddenly being service charged to death when I change employers.

Sorta like staying up until Midnight to watch the DCL website crash... fishies anyone??? :fish::fish::fish::fish::fish:

So true ... I haven't had to do that for a while but I remember how frustrating it was.

Well, if there's a good thing about getting up this early it's that I've already emptied the dishwasher, folded the towels that I tossed in the dryer before heading for bed last night, sucked down a cup of hot, sweet coffee, fed the cat, laid out the credit cards for the F&W spree, and placed the festival number on speed dial. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I need a life. And maybe a nap. :lmao:

Good Morning All!

At work already, coffee in hand and phone set to dial.

Good luck all, and I hope everyone gets what they want today!!!!!

I already had the number saved on my phone, and I have my credit card out. :rotfl: I'm totally useless in the morning as far as other stuff is concerned.
