Good luck Brenda! I am rooting for you and Lori to get the BlueZoo dinner. Can't wait to hear about it. We are coming in that morning and thought since our flights have already been cancelled and rebooked once (thank you American ) that we wont risk 2 x $185.00 even if we could get it, incase American changes stuff on us again! We will be at Flying Fish wondering what Mr. English is cooking up for you! :goodvibes

Thanks Chelsi! :goodvibes

I hope Todd's going to give us some meat butter! :rotfl2: You don't mind if I borrow that, do you? It's the best thing I've heard in a long time!! :thumbsup2

Meat Butter is free to all friendies to use! I just wish these chef's would let us say it more often! I will send happy meat butter vibes to you and Jay for the dinner.. ok that sounded wrong but right also! :rotfl2:

I was cracking up over the Ben Franklin one. It was so wrong, but hysterical. :rotfl2:

I thought that one was pretty good but I liked the one about George & Martha Washington's escaped slave the best ... in part because the characters were hiccoughing along with the narrator. :lmao:

Yeah and the kicker is that all that food is in addition to the stuff he cooks that he also gets to eat. At the same time we are now starving at home. Each night me and Fred look at each other and go back and forth with the "what do you want to eat?" "I don't know, what do you want to eat?" and we continue until we both just say to heck with it and flip open a bag of cheese curls, which consequently is still open and on the kitchen table as I type. I'm eyeballing it for a late breakfast.

:rotfl2: I'm sorry but that sounds so much like Jay and me that I can't help but laugh. Every night ... 'what would you like for dinner? ... I dunno, what would you like?'

BUTTON BUTTON BUTTON ......

I just want to be sure that everyone who requeted that I mail their buttons has actually received them. There are a couple of people I haven't received payment from and I want to be sure there hasn't been a delivery or quality issue.

Thanks! :goodvibes

Hey friendies! If you're looking for a food porn fix check out my blog ... I just updated with a post about our sushi dinner at Wasabi last weekend. And for good measure I included my funny Dairy Queen story.

The gastropod link is in my siggie ... thanks for taking a look! :goodvibes

Brenda, the sushi looked super yummy! The fancy ways of presenting it must be a trend....our local sushi place always gives it to us on boat. And the DQ story is too funny!

Good Morning! I have not checked in lately...busy week last week taking my oldest DS to camp and I had my mother here. I hope everyone is doing well.

Brenda, I recd the buttons...they look great! Thank you again...

Since this thread is all about food and drink...look who I met this weekend...Buddy the "Cake Boss"!

Have a great day all! I will try to check back soon to catch up...if that is possible!

Lauren

Great pic, Lauren!

He's having a blast. They have done some visits to local farms and he's regaled me with tales from some of his lectures, which include in depth analysis of salt and herbs at the moment. (That just sounds SOOOO exciting, doesn't it?) :rotfl: The poor child has been subjected to eating low class college food. :rolleyes1 So far his dinners have included black bass bouillabaisse, grilled shrimp, beef on some sugared skewers, korean BBQ ribs, foie gras with poached pear and scallops au gratin. Those are what I can recall off the top of my head although there is much more. Quite a change from the meals they offered when I was at college. I think he is relishing being on his own. He has a room all to himself so he feels like a king. Meanwhile, I'm a home feeling as though my right arm has been cut off. :sad1:

That's a far cry from the swill they served at my college, I can tell you that. We counted ourselves lucky when we didn't get food poisoning (which literally did happen during finals my freshman year....seven people were admitted to the hospital, and the infirmary was overflowing with the rest of us!):lmao:

Good luck to all of you who will be up early doing the dialing dance! I hope everyone gets what they want!

I've got a little food porn for you guys....here's a few shots of the table I laid out for the baby shower I threw this weekend. I ended up cutting back on what I was going to prepare as I got a lot of cancellations this week and didn't want to end up with a lot of leftovers.

Okay, where's all your food porn? ;) I had no idea you were a chef.
I actually have a bunch of pictures from stuff I did in school that I would love to get online, but that was my pre-digital days, and I'm not able to scan them on.

I don't cook anymore professionally though, at least not at the moment. I do some catering sometimes on the side, but that's only for friends and family when they have parties and such, nothing major.

It was really good sushi -and that's the first time we've had it served that way so it was really fun.

As for the DQ incident ... it still cracks us up every time we talk about it. :lmao:

Good luck to all of you who will be up early doing the dialing dance! I hope everyone gets what they want!

Thanks - I hope everyone gets what they want, too. :goodvibes

Jamie, how could you leave us hanging like this!!! I love German food, and the closest German restaurant is an 1 hour away and in Chapel Hill, so it's always packed with obnoxious college kids! I need to live vicariously through you....

Glad to hear that she will be on the mend soon!

We've got a pretty good German place here, ok it's actually in Pineville. We just went last week for their Sunday brunch. Very good! Omelet station and traditional brunchy stuff + German food :thumbsup2

Glad to hear that this wasn't something really serious. Fred had a colostomy and reversal years ago so the diverticulitis is always lurking in the background. When that kicks up its rough. Hope your MIL is feeling back to normal soon.

So you understand :thumbsup2 She actually almost died 3 years ago, had the colostomy put in during emergency surgery, had MRSA, had reversal surgery, it failed, had new colostomy put in........It's been a long rough road. She's feeling ok now, except for the hour or 2 after she eats.

Brenda, headed over to the gastropod for your sushi review :goodvibes

Chelle, glad you're MIL is doing okay--I meant to comment on that yesterday.

Heather, everything looked so nice for the shower! What goodies did you make?

Friendies! I am embarrassed to say that it just occurred to me that I hadn't seen any updates in a while. I'm not sure how the updates work exactly but somehow I wasn't getting them. :confused3

Hope you're all doing well. Dreams of F&W events dancing in many of our heads this evening! :goodvibes

I am feeling the heat this evening and drinking (aka sucking down) my cold pinot grigio (Santa Margerita but will have to try Pee No Evil :lmao:).

Have to go back and catch up in more detail but hope all is well with the friendies!

Bendy - I received the pins and loved them so let me know if you didn't receive my check in the mail. I swear the check is in the mail! ;)

I did get my button and I thought I mailed out the payment until I found the envelope stuck in my folded up windshield shade. I did get it in the mailbox tonight so you should have it shortly.

I just read the blog, beautiful sushi and I love the DQ story :rotfl2:

Hope you enjoy the newest update ... I think you will enjoy the DQ story. :thumbsup2

Yes ... remind us again what you provided - I think you last talked about it on the old thread so I've forgotten.

Glad to see you again! We're drinking Sangria tonight to stave off the heat and humidity - more storms expected and then it should cool down again.

Good luck tomorrow with your F&W ressies - I did receive your check so you're fine. I just wanted to be sure everyone got theirs and that they weren't mangled by the post office. :goodvibes

Hey Deb! No problem ... like I said I was more concerned that they arrived OK than anything else. Thanks for reading the blog - we loved the sushi. And the DQ story is like ... so wrong that it's funny. :rotfl2:

We received ours! Thank you! Did you get the money yet? Just wondering, cuz I sent cash (shhh, I know I'm not supposed to do that!) I've already got the pins on my backpack! Cait laughed a lot when she saw them! (thanks Catherine!)

Good luck to everyone who's calling tomorrow! (I'm not, I figured we'd maybe crash a couple of demos, and save the money til we get to WDW)

Got it fine and glad to know your buttons arrived safely. :goodvibes I loved your note card - it was soooooo cute! :cutie:

I speed read your posts, everyone, I promise.

Heather - nice looking spread!

I am glad Chelle's MIL is doing somewhat better.

I hope everyone gets what they are hoping for tomorrow morning on the F&W calls. I will keep my fingers crossed for you all!

Brenda - I will catch up on your blog later. No drinking for me tonight. I have18 compositions that need editing before 10:00 tomorrow morning.

Good luck tomorrow, Friendies!! :goodvibes

OH YEAH... Thanks for coming along to my Pre-Trippie! I love seeing you all there. :teeth:

Chelle, glad you're MIL is doing okay--I meant to comment on that yesterday.

Heather, everything looked so nice for the shower! What goodies did you make?

Well, in keeping with the tradition of Southern baby showers, I went heavy on the casseroles! Plus, I could prepare them all the night before and just pop 'em in the oven in the AM....made it so much easier!

I made Caramel French Toast Casserole (ironically, this was a Cooking Light recipe, but the one I got the most compliments on!), Sausage, Cheddar and Egg Strata, Crustless Zucchini Egg Quiche, Hashbrown Casserole, fresh fruit with a cream cheese dip, a danish ring, mini cinnamon rolls, and mini muffins. And no, I did not make any of the baked goods.....one of the mom-to-be's other friends brought the mini muffins and I bought all of the others at Costco.

I had Prosecco on hand for mimosas, but no one was really up for them....it could have been because by the time the shower started at 11:00 it was already 95 in the shade!

Good luck with those compositions Elin! :goodvibes

What the h e l l is wrong with your friends?!?!?!? :upsidedow

Seriously, your menu looks wonderful and I would love the French Toast recipe, but I would have been drinking Mimosas beCAUSE it was 95 in the shade! ;)

It sounds terrific ... and I still would have had one of your mimosas ... heat or no heat! :thumbsup2
