Bendy & Her Friendies V2 ... This Bar Never Closes! New Thread Started!

I am hearing rumblings on NikkiBell's "Everything V&A's" thread that foie gras might be available if one asks for it specifically. There is a recent menu posted there listing it with a surcharge. I have asked how recent that menu is and haven't gotten a reply yet...

ETA: This is the thread ~ http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2231469

I just saw that, too! :rotfl2:

I hope it's true because I would dearly love some in October. :cloud9:

Yeah, I was going to say what Brenda said. We're all meeting for Brenda's birthday, and you're welcome to come meet us if we don't scare the pants off of you.

My favorite wines under $15?

Bogle Petite Syrah - nice red with peppery notes

Goats Do Roam white from South Africa - I've become more of a red wine fan, but this is a white I still really like.

And there's always three buck Chuck at Trader Joe's, if you have one near you. Aka Charles Shaw wines. Cheap and very tasty.

The closest Trader Joe's in Atlanta - 3 1/2 hrs away. Very sad because I do like 3-buck (guess it's not 2-buck anymore) Chuck! :sad2:

Thanks all for the wine selections. I have a long list of favorites, but I'm looking to try some new I've not heard of.

Brenda, I'll send you a PM to get the details of the Saturday meet-up. My birthday is the 16th, the day before - excellent timing! :lmao:

Well today has been busy at our house. Me and the kids decided to take an improptu trip to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC this week. Poor Fred must stay behind and work. Luckily I can escape my job at will-its good to be your own boss. We are headed down on Monday. Not sure I am relishing the 12 hour drive with two teenagers, but hopefully there won't be any necessity for roadside beatings to keep them in check.

I'm looking forward to getting down to the winery and stocking up. (Really, I swear I am not a wino...I just really enjoy some of their wines). I will take lots of lots of pictures...so many that you'll probably want to jab your eyes out with the nearest sharp object. I'm sure I'll still pop in during the week at night. Tomorrow will be the kamikaze packing day. :yay:

Have fun! Don't worry there is no way I could consider you a wino! I mean you're driving 12 hrs to a winery that's just vacation shopping. I however, went to the local wine shop, grocery store, etc. anyplace that sells wine & stocked because I was having surgery! :confused3 I figured I wasn't going to be allowed to drive for 6 wks, I don't want DH to get a clue as to how much we actually spend on wine And I will choose wine over pain medication! I stopped pain meds 6 days ago, so yesterday I started working on my wine stash!

My Gawd ... were the boards constipated or something?

 Yeah I thought it was our computer, so I had my in house geek clean it up. Didn't help at all so I went to bed!

Hey Sheryl, here's the recipe I used for the sorbet mix.

Thanks! It does sound good but that is a lot of sorbet! I'll have to try cutting it in half. Have you tried it yet?

Ok... when you guys get to around 20 pages, can you please stop and take a break???

I have my nephew coming in from TX today & we'll be quite busy on and off this week...

I'm gonna sneak him into the park to listen to Coldplay at Spac tomorrow night cause I REFUSE to pay double for my lawn seats...

Then I have the cheap seats for RENT on Tuesday

Then I'm taking him to a really cheap motel up at the lake for an overnight on Wednesday...

Where I will make him eat cheap food for my birthday (which isn't for weeks...)

Eat Mallows of marsh that have been delectibly incinerated by a campfire

And then send him home to his mother where he eats healthy crap for the next couple of months...

Chocolate chip cookies are baked, courtest of his granmother (my mom...:hippie:) the homemade spaghetti sauce is done :thumbsup2

And we've locked Planky in the Closet... :rolleyes1

So I will be back somewhere along the line to check in...

Don't get into any trouble while I'm gone... :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

I haven't checked in since Friday afternoon and I had 8 pages to read through :scared1:

OMG ... someone posted this on the dining boards and I had to copy the link and share it with you guys. It's a riot and only the Disney Dining Devotees would understand ..

I read the blog and that looks like a great evening and the food pictures came out great!

As I stated previously ... I'm more than happy to mail buttons to anyone who wants me to. Just PM me with your information and I'll take care of it. :goodvibes

My parents are coming over for dinner tomorrow ... Jay is making homemade salsa since we've got so many tomatoes and peppers from our garden this summer. I'm going to make a Champagne-Citrus Sorbet for dessert. Jay is going to grill some steaks and we'll have spinach salad and some fresh green beans and fresh rye bread.

I'm also experimenting tonigt with a frozen lemonade / chopped strawberry drink with vodka added for a kickaroo. :thumbsup2

I'm sure the sorbet was wonderful and I hope Jay got yelled at for the alcohol abuse ;)

Okay, that makes it a little less odd....but it would still have freaked me out a little!

Here's the recipe:

Hot Fudge Pudding Cake (makes 8 servings)

1 1/4 c. granulated sugar, divided
1 c. all purpose flour
7 tbsp cocoa powder, divided
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 c milk
1/3 c butter, melted
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 c packed light brown sugar
1 1/4 c hot water

Heat oven to 350. In large bowl, stir together 3/4 c sugar, flour, 3 tbsp cocoa, baking powder and salt. Stir in milk, butter and vanilla; beat until smooth. Spoon batter into 8" or 9" square baking pan. Stir together remaining 1/2 c sugar, brown sugar, and remaining 4 tbsp cocoa; sprinkle mixture evenly over batter. Pour hot water over top. DO NOT STIR. Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until center is almost set. Cool 15 minutes and then dig in!

Thank you so much for posting this! It sounded like a recipe I've been looking for forever, my Mom used to make this when I was young and I hadn't had it since. I just made it, it's EXACTLY the one!!!!!:dance3: You've brought back so many wonderful memories!:thumbsup2

Allison, have a great trip! We love Biltmore, and the winery is very nice!

Heather - I hope your little one is better this morning!

Brenda - sounds like a great dinner!

He's much better....back to his usual destructive self! As pitiful as he was yesterday, I have to admit it was nice to have him just sit on my lap most of the day.....he hasn't been willing to sit still since he was 6 months old!

Have fun, and stuff the kid full of stuff that's bad for him. That's what aunts are for....to give the kids all the stuff that they love and that their parents won't let them have!

Kathy, it's probably the exact same recipe....it came from a Hershey's cookbook that is probably in it's millionth reprint. I'm glad you enjoyed it!:goodvibes

awwwww.... that is so neat. Did you make enough for all of us??

Just got back online - dinner went really well. :thumbsup2 The sorbet actually turned out pretty nicely but Jay and I think that next time we want to make a red wine sorbet using a beaujolais.

Took some pictures but probably won't post until tomorrow ... watching next food network star and relaxing with some coffee. :goodvibes

I haven't been to SPAC in sooooo long! We used to love going there!

Have fun with your nephew and what sort of trouble do you think we'd get into without you?

I read the blog and that looks like a great evening and the food pictures came out great!

Thank you :goodvibes

Your better than me, I totally forgot to take pictures. Not that I made anything all that pretty today. BBQ tastes good, but it doesn't look like much. I did make homemade coleslaw, even shredded the cabbage & carrots myself and I made a lemon pound cake. It was good and now time to relax. Night all :)

Hey ChelleinNC ... read through your blog from your trip - you guys really had a great trip and I enjoyed reading about it.

I wish Remy was still going to be at Chefs in October ... although we've not seen the movie I'd love to see that little performance in the restaurant.

Congrats to you and your hubby on the anniversary!!! :goodvibes

Thanks! Sometimes it seems like we got married just last week and other times it seems much longer than 18 years :rolleyes1

Hopefully I'll get more done on the blog today, there's still a day & half at the World before we get to the cruise

It was a gorgeous morning here too, so I took my coffee and my latest JD Robb book out to the patio and had a wonderful time. Hope your walk was just as relaxing!
I love the In Death series, though I started reading it after a lot were already out, and am still trying to read them all, in order. I think the last one I read is Reunion in Death, hard to keep track of them all though. Maybe that's what I'll take to read on the plane with me.

I would love to see Rent. I never got to see it on Broadway, and when it was in Philly I was in Disney.

Ratatouille is such a cute movie! If Remy had been there still in October I wouldn't of cancelled my Chefs ADR just to see him, LOL.

We're on the road and plowing through Virginia. Making Drew drive a bit so I can play on the IPhone. Elin, I think we're going to have to wave from a distance-the GPS took us to 66. We're going through Middletown as I type. (I'd do a waving smilie but the phone won't let me...or I just be too dopey to figure it out).

Hello friendies and Bendy :)
Hope everyone had a great weekend. My weekend consisted of picking out wedding cookies for the table ( my dad is italian and likes the tradition of a cookie plate on all the tables for desert...between that and the cake AND the candy buffet/favor station i think my guests will be all high on sugar!!), AND i got to go to a great French/American Bistro on Saturday night with some friends. I had the BEST salmon ever. I took a picture and will have to upload it..it was a grilled salmon with a dill creme fraische served over steamed broccoli rabe and a big potato and chive latke! AMAZING! After that we walked around "Waterfire"..which is a really cool thing they do in downtown providence RI, they light bon fires up the canal that goes through the city and they play all sorts of cool music, there are street performers and vendors..its really fun!
I also made our ADRs online Saturday morning!!! Very successful, although I could not get Tony's Town Sq. for the night we wanted, so i chose Kona instead, here is what we got:

Friday 10/23--getting in late, did not request anything
Saturday 10/24--1900 park faire breakfast 10:45
Kona 6:40 (i think)

Sunday 10/25--Teppan edo dinner 7:00 ish
Monday 10/26--SCi fi lunch
Tuesday 10/27--- Rose n crown lunch
Wednesday 10/28--Dinner at Citricos.

Aside from Kona they are all new to us places :) Pretty excited!! We didn't go overboard with actual ressies since we will be staying concierge AND want to snack around the world!!
We are going to try to fit in a Keys to the Kingdom tour too...it looks liek someone bought that for us on our disneyhoneymoon registry!! :cool1: Anyone know when you can reserve that?? Isn't it 30 days before?
