Bendy-Friendies V.4 ... Drinks-A-Plenty with a Side Order of Tasty Food!!!

Hey, Friendies... Two items of business.

1) - If you want to be in on the card exchange this year please PM me your name, address and email address so I can add you to the list. I didn't take anyone off the list that Brenda compiled last year, by the way.

2) - I am a bragging Mom right now. I know you all will enjoy reading the food/restaurant review my daughter did for TimeOut Boston! It is short and sweet and her boyfriend, who is a professional photographer, took the photos. I am happy that all those years of fine-tuning her taste buds are paying her back financially! Who would have thought the kid who wanted pizza burgers, green jello and Fritos would come to like fancy food. ;)

She did a great job, you should be proud!!!!!:thumbsup2

I messaged you on fb to keep me on the list!:goodvibes

What a great article! Well done to your daughter!:thumbsup2

Due to our pending move, I need to opt out of cards this year.

Now to the news. Hubby and I finally decided where we really want to be is....Omaha. When we visited there last summer, we found an amazing apartment complex. The entire area is easily walkable, lots of restaurants, a grocery store, a beautiful park, it's just us. The only negative is that it's hard to find an available unit-they stay solidly rented. On a whim, we called the Omaha complex again a couple of weeks ago, and they had a unit available in our time frame. We reserved it, and we are so happy! We'll be off to the Midwest in three weeks. :yay:

Awesome review from your daughter! I miss many of the great places in Boston when I moved away :(

That is exciting! I hope the move goes smoothly for you two.

Nothing going on here - I've been crazy at work as its that time of year. I'm apparently going with a girlfriend for her first trip to Disney in May so thats exciting. Trying to plan for a first timer is always fun.

Hope everyone had a nice thankgiving!

Hiya friendies!

Welcome to Omaha!!!! pixiedust:

Glad a place opened up in the complex you wanted! You are right, there are so many restaurants in this city, lots of variety - new African restaurants, enough Mexican restaurants that you could visit a new one every day and might not cover them all in a year, old World Italian restaurants, (not to mention the Italian steakhouses), more and more sushi places all the time, mom and pops, etc. etc., and most places are quite reasonable on a national scale.

The weather :scared1: in winter, but then, I get cold when it gets under 70 degrees. :rotfl:

I hope your move goes well!

Hi friendies!

Sorry I haven't been around much lately. My dad has been in the hospital but he is on the mend now. I ended up coming back from my Food & Wine trip a couple of days early. My dad had to have heart valve replacement surgery, and then had some complications and was in the hospital longer than expected. But the good news is he's now in rehab and feeling much better. It has been a long, stressful month or so! But I think things are finally looking up :goodvibes

I'll have to go back and catch up on what's been going on around here. I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the holiday season so far.

Speaking of which, Elin, I saw that you are compiling the holiday card list for this year. As much as I'd like to particpate, with all that has been going on, I'll be lucky if I get my shopping done. So I think I'm going to have to pass on that this year. But I wish all of you a warm and happy holiday season!

I'm off to Disney World for my birthday in about 10 days:woohoo: As long as my dad continues to do well, I'm still planning on going. I really need the break after all of the stress lately and I'm going to try and just relax a little bit.:thumbsup2

Robin - I am so sorry to hear what you, your family and your Dad have been through. Thank God things are looking good, know that I will keep y'all in my prayers. Have a great birthday in Disney!:thumbsup2

Sorry about your dad, but glad he's on the mend! Hope to see you on the 12 (and around AKV!).

Sort of :upsidedow and DH is. We're having a Hanukkah party on Saturday for the kids and their friends. Jon will make latkes & blintzes YUM!

Happy Chanukkah! I'm half Jewish, but we're consolidating holidays this year and having our latkes for Christmas dinner. :rotfl2:

Lots of "stuff" going on with the friendies. Some good, some not so good. Y'all are in my thoughts. :grouphug:

Good to hear...

We're still kickin too... :thumbsup2

still dreaming of food over here while we cross our fingers that the furnace only needs minor repairs (will find out tomorrow).

updated the blog with some visits (3) to Il Mulino in October - yummy yummy in our tummies! :thumbsup2

Great update, Brenda. We have yet to make it there ourselves. Looks like we need to add it to our list to try.

Good Morning and Happy December 4, 2010! We are off to the annual culinary fiasco known as the "office party" this evening. I have been sick since Wednesday with a gastrointestinal bug. Thankfully (or not depending on your viewpoint) I am better and able to attend this swank soiree. :rolleyes1 Please say a prayer that I don't end up with another gastro issue as a result of tonight's mass produced culinary wonders.

Office parties should be discontinued in lieu of larger bonuses. :thumbsup2

I am with you 100% on that one, Tess!

See another silver lining to our lives these days... no office party to have to go to or find a reason to skip! :rotfl:

feel better Tess ... nothing worse than a holiday party when you don't feel well.

I'm skipping mine this year - they are having it on a Friday night (and there are people in the operations center where I work who are on the clock until 7PM) and it's at the zoo.

Besides the utter rudeness of scheduling it while people are still working, Jay and I have no desire to drive all that way to have Christmas cocktails in a banquet room at the STL Zoo. Personally I think if they couldn't afford a Saturday night soiree then they should just have canceled it like last year.

I'm a crank that way. :lmao:

I'm sorry - I didn't know whether to feel bad or laugh when I read this. A work Christmas party at the zoo? :scared1:That just opens the door for so many bad office jokes...:rotfl:

Prayers for everyone who has been going through rough times lately. :grouphug:Things have been really tough around here too - I just seem to know so many people in crisis lately.
