Bendy-Friendies V.4 ... Drinks-A-Plenty with a Side Order of Tasty Food!!!

While sitting at dinner on Wednesday night I was facing a poster on the wall of the pub that somehow made me think of all of you...

“May those who love us, love us; and those who don't love us, may God turn their hearts; and if He doesn't turn their hearts, may He turn their ankles so we'll know them by their limping.”

Loved the review of Via Napoli, Brenda!

And then this description of a new Bordeaux at my favorite wine shop popped up in my email and I once again thought of you all!

Chateau la Croix de Roussat 2009
One Cheap & Sexy Bordeaux

Fresh from the fantastic 2009 vintage comes this smooth and lush medium-bodied red with notes of black currants and ripe plum.
Perfect with roasted chicken or a great stinky cheese.

Simply because we had this discussion on facebook... Look at the creepy eyes on this original bubbler! I remember looking at the one we had when we were little and thinking he looked funny! :rotfl:

Mmmmmm, cheese baby!!

Enjoyed the review and we LOVED Via Napoli as well! I might have already mentioned it, but we shared the calamari (delicious) and each had a "small" pizza. Ron (who likes his pizza plain) had pepperoni and I had the piccante. Ron's was good, but mine was fantastic! Even Mr. Plain Pizza enjoyed it.

We, too, will definitely return. I would like to try the minestrone or the fritto misto apps next time.

Thanks everyone.

Well we're definitely not going. :sad1: They think Zach (the dog) is on the mend, but my grandmother won't leave him so soon. Our vet doesn't have overnight care, and even if they did, Gram couldn't enjoy herself knowing he's sick and that she isn't with him. He is her baby and she usually doesn't even travel without him! I think he has more frequent flyer miles than me.

At first, she said she did not want to reschedule because her big excitement with this trip was F & W. But I talked to her again today and she DOES want to reschedule...so we're looking at sometime in January. So it's not a total bust. The only money we will lose is what we paid for the low-cost deminars, so we're not in the hole much.

I'm very disappointed about missing F & W (and not getting to wear my Bendy button!) but I am going in December too.

Sorry to hear you had to cancel the F&W trip!

Since the cruise meet thread thought it was crazy way back when I mentioned it, I know you all will understand the excitement.

I have Remy booked for our Disney Dream cruise in Feb! :lovestruc I know the menu was designed by Scott Hunnel of V&A so I know I should be in for a treat even with the price tag.

That's great! And of course we understand!

Great review as always! There's nothing I love better than a real Italian style pizza!

Elin, that's hysterical!:lmao:

OK... I feel like I have taken over this thread!! :rotfl:

But tonight I tasted a wine that was very nice:

I wanted to try that pizza but I knew there was no way I could handle an individual one on my own that night. Maybe next year (for lunch) Love your review!

Love it! I need to try that one.

Maybe its because I live in a town with multiple colleges, but all over our news have been these alcoholic energy drinks (Four Loko) that are going to be banned because people don't realize how much alcohol they are drinking and they do stupid things including driving behind the wheel after having had multiple cans of it

This peaked my husband and my interest as we like energy drinks and well we like alcohol. On mornings when I don't feel like coffee - I usually go to the energy drink back up of Full Throttle or Red Amp as I have a high caffeine tolerance.

So we decided to try to find it in our town. Publix didn't have it. The liquor store that just opened down the street didn't have it as they have only been open for a week and aren't sure what the patrons in the area want to have. I do have a feeling I am going to grow to love this store as they will order anything I want for special order including wines & their prices are some of the best in the area as it isn't close to the universities ( 1 L of Bacardi watermelon rum for $15.99 compared to $20 at the other closest store for normal rum)

When I went to the gas station to fill up my gas tank, I walked inside to pay and noticed they were selling it in the store. Of course we decided to buy one of each flavor they had for sale of the Four Loko 12% alcohol 24 ounce cans that the media has been crazy about - Watermelon, Fruit Punch, Grape.

We decided to each try one. I went for the Watermelon and my husband the Fruit Punch. We ended up trying one of each others. Our general feeling is that well they suck. I don't enjoy most beer and to me it tastes like someone dumped a couple tablespoons of sugar into a cheap beer. The Watermelon is slightly better than the Fruit Punch as my husband agrees. The only thing good about it is that you can get rather tipsy for cheap but I think I'm going to stick to a Red Bull & Vodka on nights out where drinking would be encouraged and I don't want to feel sleepy.

I have never heard of that stuff! But I am so glad you took one on the chin for the rest of us Friendies. :rotfl:

Hmm guess I could have told you guys about those awful drinks since I'm the youngin' here. I live in a college town (2 universities and 1 community college) so you see a lot of what I like to call 'upper-downer drinks' here. I don't agree with banning them...but why would anyone drink them???? Seems like a bad idea....an upper (Caffeine and the other junk) and a downer (alcohol)....in the same product, to be ingested at the same time? Sounds like something that would make one sick. I had a friend who liked Sparks - its one of those drinks. I tried it - tasted like orange soda and cheap beer mixed together. Blech.

Man, those drinks remind me how glad I am to have just moved. Got out of the student zone and in to neighborhood that probably has more retirees than young families. :rotfl: But it's nice and quiet here! In fact I feel like sharing a photo! Here's my little house:

The yard is going to need a lot of work....what do you do when it's too shady to have grass? I'm afraid this means there won't be much I can do in the way of gardening.

Brenda - loved the Via Napoli review. Great as always!

Since we had to reschedule our trip, my Gram and I talked about our ADR's. We made all the same ones except for two, one of which was Via Napoli. She insisted there can't be any good Italian at Disney. I said ok we can go somewhere else since there are plenty of other places I want to try....but that pizza looks like what I ate in the real Napoli! So I'm wondering if maybe I should talk to her about it again. I'm emailing her the link to your review. We picked out GF Cafe instead.....has anyone ever been there? Would Via Napoli be a better idea?

I think I'm actually younger than you ;) I graduated from college early along with getting married shortly after so sometimes I sound older than I am. I tried it because I'm slightly insane. When we do go out to the bars with my husband's coworkers, I have been known to mix uppers and downers between Red Bull & Vodkas or even to a lesser extent Jack & Cokes so it wasn't too far of a stretch to want to try something new.

I understanding wanting to not live in the college areas! Back when we lived in New England we were in walking distance to my college but so not a good area of town to live in. When I took this job down south in a town thats well has more bad areas than good areas, we made sure we stayed on the right area of town in a brand new neighborhood. Your place is cute & trust me you are never quite finished with your house no matter what you improve. In some ways be glad you don't have grass as at least then you won't have to mow it twice a week in the rainy season!

I've had many lunches at GF Cafe & each time it has been amazing. Beside my first time there, every other time I've had the most amazing servers that are attentive and funny and looking like they are having a good time. You will probably love it!

Elin, you posted the Irish prayer!! :goodvibes Always one of my favorites and it's perfect for all of us here!

Glad so many of you enjoyed the Via Napoli review ... we were very pleasantly surprised by just how good it was.

Abby, love the house! It's cute! And I hope you can convince your Gran to try Napoli ... it was really quite good and the waiters were cute, too! :rolleyes1

This is the one we used on my brother's memory cards ..

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sunshine warm your face,
the rain fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

I'm not and have never been a religious person, but I've always liked this and still find comfort in it.

Abby, VERY cute house! :goodvibes I love that it's in the woods--you could use pine needles for ground cover since it's too shady for grass. Be glad you won't have to mow grass! We got a book at Lowe's on landscaping (not that we've done any ) and it had a lot of ideas for shady yards.
