Belly Up to the Bar With Bendy and Her Friendies!!! Button Pics & New Thread Started!

Happy Anniversary Whomom!!! :cool1:

How about a wedding picture? Or some food porn? Or both? :lmao:

Hope that nasty tooth is feeling better today.

I hate trying to plan meals for other people ... they never appreciate the time or effort or thought that you put into it.

I thought I learned my lesson with my mother a few years back but I'm re-learning it this summer. :headache: I think your final decisions need to be about what the majority of your family will enjoy ... if your mom is like mine, nothing you choose will be right so why stress yourself out about it?

The only place on your list that I can say anything about is Sci-Fi ... we love the cheesy atmosphere and the alcoholic milkshakes are a dream.

Rather than do a second character breakfast on your last day why not check out the breakfast buffet at Boma. It's fabulous!

First off, I have to say, I've seen the pics of the dessert party, and it definitely peaked my interest. I loved the view as well. Unfortunately, we won't be there during those dates, so I'll have to live vicariously through whoever can go.

TDC Nala, sangria in to go cups? My kind of take home dessert!!!! :thumbsup2

I wonder if I could trouble the Friendies. I don't know why but I am seriously second guessing myself on a lot of my ADRs for my upcoming trip. To give you all a little background, we normally go with family (as in not just the three of us). Last year, we went just my husband, our son, and myself. It was wonderful. Went where we wanted, when we wanted and even changed ressies. During free dining, no less, it was so nice!

This time, I have the whole big clan in honor of my birthday. The group includes the three of us, my parents, my nana, and my father in law. My dad will be with us for three days, everyone else for the whole six.

The problem is that my mother doesn't like hardly anything I pick. Which is a whole other ball of wax. So I'm wondering if I tell you what I'm looking at, if any of you could tell me if you liked it, if you've eaten there lately, or even point me in the direction of some food porn if you have it.

Our first day I'm hoping to get a ressie for Nine Dragons. We haven't eaten there since the renovation, and I'd still like to try it.

The second day, I had wanted to try Ohana's for dinner. My mother, quite frankly, hates the menu. Everyone else is pretty much down for whatever I suggest. I've never been to Ohana's, so I'm not sure what to do here. Other possible ideas are having everyone go to Chef Mickey's for a late breakfast, because I think character dining would be fun with our big group, and my dad is still here on this day.

The third day, we have MNSSHP, and we pretty much leave the day open.

The fourth day, I'm having lunch at Sci Fi. Not because it's spectacular food, but because I think my four year old will love eating lunch in a car. Mom and Nana won't be joining us, they'll be going elsewhere.

The fifth day, we're having dinner at the Brown Derby to celebrate my birthday. This is a place my mom actually likes, and everyone likes, so score one for me.

The sixth day, we leave, but our flight is later, so we actually have time for breakfast on this day. I was debating another character breakfast, but I'm not sure.

Thank you so much if you read all that. So, has anyone been to / enjoyed Ohana's lately? Nine Dragons? Can you think of any other places...not knowing my family at all :lmao:...that you think is good for a big group?

Thanks again. I really appreciate it.

Oh, how well I remember that trip report. I caught that after you'd written it, and I totally understood how you felt. The only difference I think with our situations is that my mother enjoys Disney. Very, very much. We're just on different playing fields in regard to where we'd like to eat and how much time we'd like to spend doing it.

I am about to sound really dumb. The milkshakes can be alcoholic? :woohoo:

Sadly, my dear, I've dined at Boma. I say sadly because no one in my party enjoyed it. Well, perhaps my son enjoyed it, but he's three. Both DH and I felt that we must have been there on an off day. Pastries were dry, little flavor, fruit didn't seem quite as fresh as we would like it, and our service was absolutely horrible. I figure every trip you have one meal that's less than stellar. Unfortunately, that was Boma for us last year. DH swears he'll never go back.

I would consider trying it again, but not on this trip. I'm really interested in dinner actually, but don't even want to try that with this crowd! :lmao:

Oh my friendie ... yes ... they serve alcoholic milkshakes at Sci-Fi. :thumbsup2 I am partial to Martia's Martian ... a combination of chocolate and vanilla milkshakes mixed with bailey's and kahlua. It was slap me silly good! :lmao:

OK ... Boma was a bust. Bummer, but it happens. What about Cape May Buffet at the Beach Club? They have a nice little spread and it's a much quieter experience ... Goofy, Minnie, Chip & Dale made appearances the last time we we ate there.

Dude! You said "slap me silly good!" And that makes me laugh! :rotfl2: Out loud, for real. I've had a rough bummer of a day, and I thank you, my dear. :thumbsup2

I just mosied on over to allears to check out the menu, and my word do they have some fine alcoholic concotions. Is it wrong that I am now more excited about this meal because I know I can have a yummy drink with it? ;)

Agreed, it happens. You know what, I had a lovely breakfast at Cape May Cafe in December. We had a horrible server, but we didn't carry. One of those have lemons make lemonade thing. And my DS had a great time with the characters.

You know what I'm also considering? It's not fancy or anything, but Akershus for the Princess breakfast would be nice. And normally, I wouldn't subject my family to such things, but given that it's my birthday, I figure they can suffer gracefully. I'll let you know what else I can come up with. :goodvibes

Always happy to provide a laugh ... I was trying to find something funny to say about that shake because it was just awesomely good ... but that doesn't really drive it home, ya know? :lmao:

Sorry to hear your day's been a rough one - hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Jay ordered the Space Monkey when we were there ... I don't like banana drinks but he really enjoyed it. And you are asking the wrong person if it's bad that you're more excited about Sci-Fi now that you know they serve frozen boozy beverages. I see nothing wrong with that at all. :rolleyes1

Have never done the Princess meal .... but Grand Floridian Cafe serves a great breakfast and they also have boozy morning beverages. :thumbsup2

I'm starting to pick up on a theme here ... :lmao:

Today is our 14th anniversary! So I am making a Southern Living recipe for boneless BBQ ribs (and chicken) in the crock pot, twice baked potatoes, salad and key lime pie. Red Stripe beer is the drink of choice tonight, in honor of our honeymoon in Jamaica!

Yesterday was a poopie day indeed; had to have a root canal (cracked my tooth from grinding them at night) and it took SIX shots of Novocaine total. One of them was actually down into the middle of the pulp of the tooth! :scared1: You wouldn't think I'd be so anesthesia-resistant seeing that it only takes two glasses of wine to make me tipsy!

Happy Anniversary :flower3:! Dinner sounds great I hope your feeling better after yesterday:scared:. I love Key Lime pie did you make it?

Happy Anniversary Whogirl'smom :goodvibes

TarzansKat - We went to grand floridian Cafe for breakfast our last trip and really enjoyed it. It's a nice relaxed atmosphere with good food. Next time I am trying the lobster eggs benedict. They also give all the ladies a fresh rose. Your mother might like that.;)

It can't get worse! :thumbsup2

I feel like a little kid. I looked at the menu, and I totally want a drink that glows. :lmao: I'll just have to clean off that cube reeeeaaallll good before I hand it to the kiddo.

Are you implying that I'm a boozehound? ;) I do love Jack Sparrow after all, I guess it goes with the territory.

That's two votes for GF Cafe! I just looked at the menu and wow. I really like it. I even like the children's menu which is really saying something.

Fresh roses?

Hmmm... :scratchin

I like Boma. Did you go for Breakfast or Dinner? I have been 4 times for dinner only and just made ADR for Dinner again next week. My kids even love it. I will say if your not open to new and different foods this is not the place for you. I have been there and have seen alot of adults eating from the kids buffet. Brenda you and Jay ate Breakfast there right? I think I remember you liking it.

Bummer about Boma, but I agree with Cape May. Love it there! Sadly Chip & Dale are no longer there, but Donald Duck is :thumbsup2

Yes indeedy ... we ate breakfast at Boma, sucked down Frunch, and nearly had a heart attack when our server thought it would be funny to tell us our credit card had been denied. I'm still washing the grey outta my hair from that little joke. :headache:

Food was great though ... even some of the weird stuff. Would you believe that we actually buy quinoa here in Stinktown and eat it for breakfast???

Well that just made my day :woohoo:

Seems like I always make someone's day around here when I talk about booze. :rolleyes1 No wonder I likes my friendies so much! :goodvibes

And I'm slightly jealous ... no one gave me a rose at the GF Cafe ... but they could probably tell that Jay and I were revving up for a day of drinking and didn't want to contribute to the death of a flower by giving it to me. :lmao:

I actually ate there for breakfast. I don't know how to describe. We are totally willing to try new things, we are not really meat and potatoes people, you know? We're definitely up for something different, and the best I can say is that the kitchen must have been having a really really bad day. I mean, the sticky rolls were dry. That's sad. :confused3

I had an awesome experience with Chip and Dale there. My husband...let's just say we had a lot of fun. :rotfl2:

Now you know how easy it is to keep the friendies happy.:thumbsup2

I was just telling my DH about quinoa it was voted best in the mens health magazine. Was your server a guy at Boma?

Yep ... some young punk, to quote Dirty Harry. :lmao:

Jay likes the quinoa better than I do, but as long as I add some milk and sugar and cinnamon it's OK.

I was wondering if it was the same guy we had he use to work at Whispering Canyon. How have you been feeling?:flower3:

ok Hoop de Doo Food Porn it is - and I will take the photos before I start on the sangria. Last time I went they gave us sangria in cups to go and we had a party on the bus.

I think it's hilarious that you're taking food porn at Hoop De Doo. I still can't believe how incredibly cool our server was for actually offering the "to go" cups for our booze! As I said to you before, I wish I was there this time for the Hoop De Doo Redux.

I've just booked a flight to Vegas in November - it is Southwest so I still have time to decide if I'm actually going, it's the time off work that may be the stopping point - but wow is it cheap to stay there now. No Bellagio for me though - I am at Bally's across the street so the extra cash can go for food and shows. I got great deals on shows and drinks in April. Even though Bellagio rooms are relatively cheap now the Bally's rooms are still half that.

You know this is making it incredibly difficult to say no to my 40th birthday trip to Vegas, since now you have a flight to go along with the hotel! I really want those flights from Chicago to go down so I could celebrate my own birthday there. Maybe I should bring out the "fishbowl drink" pic of you from the Voodoo Lounge. At least I have some suggestions for where I'd go for a birthday dinner.

Happy late anniversary Jamie! Your dinner sounded great. Hope it was a wonderful meal!

Sorry about the root canal. I have major issues getting numb too, maybe its just us women? :rotfl: The last time I went to a regular dentist I was up to 11 injections, some right into the nerve and still could feel everything. Now if I have to have any work done I go to a guy that just totally knocks my butt out. It is so much easier and alleviates the anxiety of "am I going to get numb this time". Anyhoo...hopefully your on the mend and doing much better now.

You have much to learn, grasshopper (BTW, also the name of an oldschool milkshake boozy drink!)

Yep ... some young punk, to quote Dirty Harry. :lmao:

I just watched "Grand Torino" the other night and I can't help but think of an interview I saw with Clint Eastwood that was SO funny re: John Wayne. I found it on youtube for you to see. The whole video is 9 minutes long but the part you want to look for is from section 1:58 to 3:25 and is only a minute long or so. You will definitely :happytv:
