LOVE the pictures..i can't wait to hear more about it!!!!

So do you think they do the 7 dwarves in cones too? How about the Daisy parking area? ;)

LOVE IT!!!

Briarmom - Love the pictures. More please. :goodvibes

Brenda- Great description of the beer pairings. The Boursin cheese and bread sample with the Zon beer looked really good, and I'm not even a beer drinker. I found something here on the freebie board that you ( and others ) might be interested in. Go to georgekillians.com and click to the free Brewmaster's tasting kit. After you register and send the code if needed ( I used M9N7K3K ) they send you a package with 4 hard plastic shotglasses with George Killian's Irish red on them, a keyring with a bottle opener on it, a book and a mat with tips for beer tasting on it. I just received mine in the mail today ( got it for my husband who is a beer drinker ;) ). He really liked it alot. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info, I'm sure DH will love it! :thumbsup2

I have not been a very good Friendie lately :guilty: Just seems like life has been getting in the way :rolleyes1

Here are some pics from our Passover Seder:

ChelleinNC - Looks like no one left the table hungry at Passover! :goodvibes

Bob is away on business so Kristin and I decided to burn a gift certificate we had to a local Bistro tonight. Unfortunately I left my phone in the car and it was raining so I have no food porn to share. I will let you know what we ate, however!

cafe_cover.jpg

Since the rains have arrived we ate indoors. We had a spectacular meal with a wine that was new to us: Shoo Fly Shiraz 2006

Kristin ordered the Mixed Grill which included Applewood Smoked Bacon-Bosc pear-brioche stuffed Manchester Farm quail, Link of homemade garlic-fennel sausage, and wild mushrooms.

I had the Shrimp 'n' Grits: Sauté of jumbo shrimp atop fried herbed polenta, grilled asparagus, pancetta enriched natural pan jus.

Desserts - We shared a divine Pot de Creme with pistachio brittle as well as their house made Coconut Cake.

The meal was wonderful, as always. I would put this chef-owned bistro up against most of the Signature Restaurants at WDW!

Well Jon turned 40 on Friday. He couldn't decide what he wanted to for his birthday until Friday late afternoon :rolleyes1 That's when he decided that The Melting Pot sounded good :thumbsup2 DH & I have been a few times, but the kids have never been there so we thought it would be fun.

At 5 pm, I called and made a reservation for the 4 of us at 7:45. While on the phone they asked if we were celebrating anything (who do they think they are, Disney?) I quietly told them about DH's birthday.

We were seated as soon as we arrived, and DH was told Happy Birthday by one of the girls at the hostess stand. DH was given a birthday card signed by everyone working that night which I thought was very nice.

We started with a couple of drinks, Dirty martini for DH & a Tipsy Turtle for me :thumbsup2 , the kids had soda & lemonade.

For dinner DH and I had the "Big Night Out" and the kids had the Signature Selection Entree for 2.

We all started with cheese fondue: Kids had Fiesta Cheese Fondue, which was similar to queso. DH & I had the Quattro Formaggio cheese fondue  YUM! This was soooooo good! We ate every last bite! The kids liked theirs as well, but there was a little too much jalepeno added for DS's taste but DD loved it :thumbsup2

The 2nd course was salad. Normally you share the salad, but our waitress suggested that DH & I get different salads so we can try both and for the kids she did the same. DH had the Caprese Salad, I had the California Salad (mixed baby greens, Roma tomatos, walnuts, gorgonzola, raspberry black walnut vinagrete dressing). I think we each shared a bite with the other, but that was it. They were too good to share :rotfl: DD got the Spinach Mushroom Salad, minus the mushrooms:laughing: and our waitress recommended a fruit plate (that is not on the menu) for DS. He loved it! Fresh pineapple chunks, strawberries & bananas :thumbsup2

3rd course was the entrees. DH & I had the Fondue Fusion:
Lobster Tail
Filet Mignon Florentine
Limoncello Balsamic Sirloin
Shrimp Diablo
Sun-dried Tomato Chicken
Orange Fennel Pork Tenderloin
Porcini and Portobello Sacchetti
Fresh Vegetables
$87 per couple

The kids had Signature Selection $58
Filet mignon, white shrimp,
teriyaki-marinated sirloin,
breast of chicken and salmon filet.

Neither of them likes salmon, so we asked if we could substitute something for that and DS chimes in "maybe with more filet?" Our waitress said, sure we'll give you more filet instead of salmon. Let me say, DS was in heaven :cloud9:

We chose 2 different cooking styles/flavors, the Mojo (Carribean flavors with garlic & citrus) and a traditional Coq au Vin.

All of it was really good, but the lobster was to die for :worship:. DS loved "cooking" his own steak :cool1: DD thought the teriyaki sirloin was fantastic and she doesn't even like teriyaki. Did I mention the lobster was really good? :lmao: We were so stuffed, but that did not stop us from our final course :rotfl2:

Final course, milk chocolate Tiramisu fondue & a special order dark chocolate fondue with a shot of Chambord :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 What can I say, it doesn't get any better than dark chocolate with Chambord :cloud9: Jon & I both got coffee to go with our dessert and when they brought the dipping items out, one slice of cheesecake had a candle in it :goodvibes Our items to dip included: pound cake cubes, cheesecake, brownie, rice krispie treats, graham cracker coated marshmallows, chocoalte covered marshmallows (yeah, that seemed weird since we were about to dip it in chocolate), strawberries, bananas, & I don't remember what else. It couldn't have been any better, except it was for DS when our waitress told him if he needed more of anything she'd bring it out for him. He was one happy happy boy when another plate of marshmallows, brownies & rice krispie treats came out :dance3:

We only took one picture and it was at the end of the meal

It was a wonderful night out, and DH was very happy :goodvibes Apparently 40 is such a big birthday it takes all weekend to celebrate :rotfl: so his parents came over Saturday for a cookout. We grilled Italian sausages and burgers, had pasta salad, potato salad & chips. Then we had birthday cake, Boston Cream Pie (cake).

It was a great weekend filled with wonderful food & booze :goodvibes

I'm pretty sure there was more food, but those are the only pictures I have. No one was hungry (or sober) by the time dinner was over. As Jon likes to say, Passover is the only holiday he knows of with a 4 drink minimum

Well now I'm hungry again. I don't know what sounds best, I want to try it all :thumbsup2

What a great birthday celebration. :goodvibes Tell Jon if he thinks 40 takes a weekend to celebrate just wait for 50 . ;) My husband needed a week away at Virginia Beach then a backyard BBQ/smoker cookout with a bunch of friends for that one. :lmao:

Briarmom - Was the Pagodas part of Tokya DL? I'd love to see pics of the park if you have them.

Have to keep it short as am leaving very early in the morning for a grueling week long concert tour. I'll check the threads from my laptop.

ChelleinNC - the birthday celebration sounds nice. We actually considered Melting Pot last night before deciding to stay downtown! :)

Nope, that was regular old Japan.:cloud9:

I'll post pics of the parks in my Trip Report that I need to get on.:scared:

I've got lots of catching up to do here. I've spent the last three days passing kidney stones, so much fun.

When we were ready for dinner we started with Strawberry Soup (recipe from 1900 PF of course)

ChelleinNC, do you have the recipe for this soup or maybe a link to someplace that does. This looks sooooo good!

Thanks ;)

Are you feeling better now? Do you at least get good pain pills for that?

ChelleinNC, do you have the recipe for this soup or maybe a link to someplace that does. This looks sooooo good!

Strawberry Soup from 1900 Park Fare
2lbs 8 oz strawberries, frozen, thawed with juice
16 oz heavy cream
2 oz sour cream
3 oz yogurt
1/2 lb fresh strawberries (for garnish)

1. Mix strawberries, heavy cream, sour cream and yogurt
2. Beat slowly until well mixed AND a smooth consistency
3. Chill, shake well well before serving
4. Garnish with fresh strawberry halves

I made it in a food processor (I have a large Cuisinart, so it fit).

I'm feeling better, not well enough to get back to the gym, thanks for asking.:flower3: I've got pain pills but they're not that good.

Enjoyed your Passover pics, everything looked wonderful!:thumbsup2

I've never been to Melting Pot, gotta put it on my list. We have so many darn restaurants here I always have a list a mile long.:)

I have the same cake stand that you have!

Briarmom - AWESOME pics, any more to share?

Elin - That bistro food sounds SO good to me right now. We have a little French Bistro here that I'd put up against all the WDW Sig places too!!:thumbsup2

Bendy - The cold Thai meatballs even looked gross.:scared:
