Belly Up to the Bar With Bendy and Her Friendies!!! Button Pics & New Thread Started!

She's the master of the backhanded compliment. :lmao:

Later in the evening while Jay and I were cleaning up the kitchen she was telling us a story about something she'd messed up at their house and how when it happened she turned to Jon and said, "See? You're not the only one around here who screws things up."

:scared1::lmao::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is too much..you should start a book of "Grim-isms"...it would be a best seller!!

LOVING all the easter pictures...Scrumdiddlyumptious!!! :thumbsup2

Was assigned the job to get up and call for our ADR's this morning. After hearing all the horror stories of people waiting on hold for an hour, DH thought she should get the job  I am here to praise her, which I probably don't do often enough. On her spring break, she set her alarm and got up and called Disney dining at 7:04am. She made all the adr's except for 1 that she needed a CC for and I was still asleep  She then made the coffee, emptied the dishwasher (which was packed from Easter dinner), I gave her my CC and she called dining back and got the last ADR :thumbsup2
For the record, she was only on the phone for 15 minutes total on the 1st call and 5 minutes on the 2nd :cool1:

We are staying at BCV, trying a few new places & visiting some old favorites.
arrive 7/12 Cape May Cafe dinner (may change, but at least have something booked)
7/13 Hollywood Brown Derby- one of our favorites and DH insists on going every trip :goodvibes
7/14 Hoop Dee Doo Review - have never ever seen this and figured it's about time :thumbsup2
7/15 Tusker House dinner -AK evening EMH and never tried this one. Love Boma, hoping we'll love TH
7/16 still not sure yet. Planning for DH & I to go for our anniversary dinner that night (anniv is actually the 7th before we get to Disney, but close enough)
7/17 The Wave- looking forward to trying this one!
7/18 Cape May breakfast--we'll see if it happens. This is check out day.

So that's what we've got planned for now :goodvibes

ETA: look in the pic, behind DD is the proof that I made the aspargoose bundles. They're sitting on the counter waiting for me to put them in the oven

Well, I think your DD deserves something amazing during spring break! That goes above and beyond the call of duty!! :thumbsup2

That bunny cake is too cute and that lamb looks nice and juicy. Suddenly I'm feeling guilty that I did not cook for the holiday. Nothing beats some good home cooking.

parents have departed and the nephew and his wife never showed up ... not even a phone call.

nice.

Hope that you heard from your nephew and that all is well with them. If it makes you feel any better, we have relatives that flake out on occasion too. Mine are REALLY way out there though...its kind of what factored into me going on strike from hosting Easter festivities this year. Sounds like you had a very nice dinner anyway. :goodvibes

Oh how I could use an adult beverage tonight.

We really enjoyed Hoop Dee Doo. It's fun and cheesy.:thumbsup2 Is the food awesome? No. But it's a fun time!
We do Brown Derby for lunch every time we go as a family.

You should do Victoria and Alberts for your anniversary! Dh and I did it last year and it was awesome!

sounds good, but it's the middle of the afternoon here.....guess I should wait awhile :rolleyes1

HDDR looks like a lot of fun and adult beverages are included :thumbsup2:cool1:

Thought about it, but DH wants to save it for our 20 year and we're only at 18 this year. That and we thought it might be nice to be within stumbling distance of the villa

You should be very proud of your DD! She's a beauty too.:goodvibes

I noticed the goose bundles right away......;)

You know, that was the only gripe I had about HDDR. The server was so busy, getting another drink was impossible! It was still fun.

Truthfully, you eat so much at V&As that the huge amount of wine you consume is hardly noticable! We dropped our kids off at the GF kids club and had a blast. We were staying at the BC, so we took a taxi. CA Grill would also be a good one...but it's not within stumbling distance either.

Ooooh, what about Blue Zoo? I think Bendy loves it there!

I'm actually having an adult beverage right now!! Work was very stressful today so I thought I needed a "little" Skyy Pineapple Infused vodka on the rocks.

Our family LOVES Hoop Dee Doo. The food is passable and the jokes are sooooo corny but we always have such fun!!!!

I would love V & A's. My DH is such a picky eater. He never touches seafood of any kind and only eats about five veggies. Does anyone think someone like him could be happy there? He would also be very embarassed if anyone mentioned his limited likes! :confused3 LOL I've always thought it might just be safer to never get to try V & A's. Poor me :sad1:

Thank you everyone for your great recipe ideas!! I saw quite a few that will have to be made sooner than later!! Thank you!!!!:grouphug:

Is this thread great, or what? :goodvibes

I still have to get pictures on the computer ... and then to photobucket ... blah blah blah.

Thanks everyone for sharing such great Easter pics so far! And North Carolina Michelle ... your daughter is lovely. And she gets a gold star for making ADRS! :thumbsup2

I haven't read any of the pages before this yet, and I don't really cook much...but I'm here anyway.;)

Grammy ... may I call you Grammy?

If you want to dine at V&A then you should ... they are very accomodating there and if you share your concerns with them upfront the chef and maitre'd will do everything they can to make a special menu for him. The night that Jay and I dined at the Chef's Table we were just finishing up and Chef Hunnel had disappeared ... our waitress told us a little while later that there was a guest in the dining room who wouldn't eat anything but cheese and bread and had literally driven the poor chef to distraction.

In a less formal restaurant chef Hunnel might have taken a very sharp, very long knife and run screaming from the kitchen into the dining room to teach that patron a thing or two about food, but at V&A he just simmered under his hat. ;)

My point is that if your hubby doesn't like seafood, don't worry because they will have plenty of meaty options for him to choose from. Beef ... Kobe Beef ... Wagyu Beef ... Pork ... Buffalo ... Ostrich ... Elk ... and others that I'm sure we haven't tried or don't remember trying.

Nothing but cheese and bread? What would be the point of going somewhere like V & A's if you are so limited?

A&AGrammy- I would certainly try V & A's. They so good about asking what allergies and food aversions when I called for reservations, then they made another follow up call about a week before our dining date and another run through of specific dining concerns when seated at the table. Very accommodating especially since we never had any any special requests. Excellent meal and a very memorable experience. :cloud9:

Thank you :goodvibes The lamb was very tender & juicy and the bunny cake is something my mom always made when I was a kid so I've carried on the tradition.

Thanks! I should have known with this group I wouldn't need to point out the goose bundles

We've been leaning towards Flying Fish & Bistro both of which accept the DDE/TiW card. Blue Zoo is under consideration, after Bendy's review :thumbsup2 even though they don't accept DDE/TiW. My kids are old enough that they'll be off at the parks on their own when we go out, so no need to worry about kids clubs.

BZ would be an excellent choice within stumbling distance!!!:thumbsup2

This is a great thread!
Now good thing DD doesn't read this thread (she reads the food review though) or her head would be swelling princess:

He was part of a large group in the dining room and was apparently a jerk ... prided himself on being as difficult as possible. Chef Hunnel actually went out to the dining room and sat down and had a chat with this person to find out exactly what he would and wouldn't eat because he kept sending stuff back to the kitchen ... can you imagine doing that at V&A? :scared1: :headache:

Here's a video about bunnies for you to make you feel better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jm9R0Epmph0 (It makes more sense if you've seen that Buffy episode.

:lmao: I love the musical episode! Anya trips me out.

Just sitting here digesting and drinking a glass of Champagne (from Champagne :snooty:) and filling up my Kindle for the 12 hour flight from Rome to Tokyo that will be happening on Thursday.:scared1:

Have safe and fun trip! :)

Happy Easter Everyone!

Ready to hide .. or in our case be made into Deviled Eggs!:flower3:

Cute kitty and pretty easter eggs!

Speaking of kitties....Guess what my kitty, Delilah, left on our doorstep this morning....that's right....a bunny. Is that sacriligious or what!?

parents have departed and the nephew and his wife never showed up ... not even a phone call.

nice.

food was good and we had a nice afternoon but if I hadn't already booked a certain someone a room using our vacation points I can tell you that those someones wouldn't be headed to WDW in October.

whatever happened to common courtesy? :confused3

Oh, wait until you guys hear what Grimmie said to me today ... :rotfl2:

I was changing clothes when they showed up so they were already "settled in" when I popped out of the bedroom. I hugged my mom and said, "Your younger, less fat daughter has disappeared and I'm here in her place."

Grimace looked at me and said ....

....

....

...

wait for it

....

"Brenda, you're not that fat."

:lmao::rotfl2::lmao:

Aaahhh, family. Can't live with them. Can't kill them.

I think I'm still full from dinner yesterday :guilty:

and the traditional bunny cake
Easterdinner009.jpg

All that rich food did me in, too. All I ate today was fruit.

That bunny cake sure is cute, though!

Chelle: just wanted to let you know how stunning your daughter looks in the photo. Also loved your picture of the Ambrosia. It's one of my favorite dishes of all time but it's kind of like deviled eggs - it's food that has somehow gone out of fashion and you don't see it much anymore.

Well, have you ever heard from them? By the way, I find this kind of thing happens a lot these days and that's why I've virtually stopped entertaining and/or inviting people over for dinner. I used to give big parties at lease 2 or 3 times a year and really go to a lot of work. No potluck at my place. I'd spend a lot of money on cocktails and interesting menus only to have people either not turn up, call me after the party started to cancel, or cancel a couple hours before. The excuses were often along the lines of: "I'm too tired, I'm too stressed. Well thanks a whole bunch! How do they think the host feels after preparing for days. I finally said to heck with it and now I only do family gatherings.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: It could've been worse! She could have agreed with you. My mother takes great delight in pointing out when I gain weight and pressures me to diet all the time. :guilty::sad2:
