Belly Up to the Bar With Bendy and Her Friendies!!! Button Pics & New Thread Started!

Asking for good thoughts and/or prayers for our friend Sheryl (shovan). She has had back/spine problems and was told she'd probably need surgery sometime this year. This past week she's developed numbness and is now waiting on word as to whether or not the surgery should be done sooner rather than later. She's not coping very well and could use all of our good thoughts, prayers and support.:grouphug:

:grouphug: pixiedust: on their way

Three weeks till I hit Chicago. Budget is tight, so no uber-dining, but I sure am looking forward to some tasty treats!

I'll report back with anything interesting.

.

Ask Ian about that hot dog place... and the pizza place... he gave Lisa (calmom) a few suggestions...

No DVC here either because it doesn't make sense for a single person.

That depends on the single person - I own 400 points and will be going to a lot of places other than Walt Disney World this year - have already been to New Zealand, Australia, and Las Vegas and am hitting New York this weekend, and in July. (visits to WDW will be decreased since the removal of the Adventurers Club which was mostly the reason I went to WDW. Using points to go to Disneyland this year and might use them to go somewhere with ABD next year)

Tell Sheryl that we are definitely thinking of her and sending get well wishes her way! :goodvibes My nephew had back surgery a few years ago and it really made a huge difference for him and his quallity of life. Still, its a scary proposition.

Loving Easter in Stinktown Part I. Anxiously awaiting Part II. :goodvibes

TDC Nala -- great to hear from a singleton DVC owner. I am very tempted by it and am glad to hear that you are making good use of your points! :) There are SO many other ways I should spend my money but the temptation is SO strong... :rolleyes1

remember DVC's a heavy money outlay! Makes sense if you're able to use the points.

Every few years I give my brother a few points for his family to stay at WDW too.

Brenda, I just subscribed to this wonderful thread and am slowly reading my way through it. I would love to be included in your little get together in October. I am still not sure on the dates I will be there. :)

Disneyfav4ever, my thoughts and prayers are with your Grandmother.

Your Easter brunch looks yummy! I've never seen a carrot risotto...any chance I could get the recipe?

I found this on the internet when I was looking for pictures of the F&G fest...

Now that's an awesomely funny picture!

Bloody Marys ala' Jay ... that means less spice and no horseradish. They're quite tasty!

Sure, I'll have one!

And who doesn't like a mimosa? We used Pulp-free orange juice, Santa Margarita Prosecco, and added a dash of Grand Marnier. I just have to say that the Santa Margarita Prosecco is wonderful ... way better then Martini & Rossi's version of the same.

And I'll have one of these, too!

A bowl of fresh fruit and some amaretto cream cheese dip ...

The cheese so good it deserves its own theme song ...

I'll take one wedge for every day of the year ... in perpetuity

The other cheeses ... from left ear to right ear and finishing in the middle of Mickey's head:

Humboldt Fog
Herve Mons Spring Milk Ossau-Iraty
Manchego

Crackers for your cheese?

Or perhaps you'd prefer bread?

P4120020.jpg

A funny thing happened at the St. Louis Bread company when we stopped there Saturday for bread. We like the French country loaf for soft, spreadable cheeses but they only had the largest size available; after a moment's discussion about how we could use the leftover bread we'd undoubtedly have, I asked the young man behind the counter for the large, French loaf, thinly sliced please.

He said, "You want the miche?"

I felt my brow furrow and I shook my head. "No, I want the French country loaf."

And to help him out out, I pointed directly at the bread I was referring to.

He turned to me and said, "That's the miche."

"Then why does the sign say that it's French Country?"

"Because it's a miche."

He then took the bread, dropped it in the slicer, and rang up the order. I turned to Jay and asked him for help. "What the hell is a miche???"

Jay was smirking as he is wont to do when I'm unintentionally making a doofus of myself, which happens a lot. "Miche is the largest size they make; loaf is the normal size."

:confused3 :confused3

Now I was really puzzled. "But loaf means a shaped mass of bread baked in one piece ... how can I be wrong?"

"You're not."

:lmao:

So, long story short we didn't serve a loaf of bread we offered up a miche of baked yeasty goodness.

Our table of yummies, including a honeybaked ham and Grimmie's famous deviled eggs.

Grimace, in her manic desire to be liked, ordered Jon to make bird rolls because Dylan and Jen enjoy them so much. We all like the birdses, but I'd already requested that Jon not wear himself out making these rolls when we were already having biscuits and fresh bread. So my mom does the total opposite of what I asked ... she had Jon make a cake that no one wanted and no one ate and then had him bust a hump in the kitchen on Easter Sunday making rolls for two people who never showed up.

I was almost glad about the shoddy decor on her birthday cake ... for a moment.

Look! Grimace is smiling ... for real! :goodvibes

And a slice of tiramisu cake ... it was good but not as good as I hoped and expected it to be. Next time I'll make dessert from scratch again ... with a extra dash of luuuuuv. ;)

And I just have to say that our dinner last night was tremendous! A lot of fun and we're looking forward to picking up other dinners in this series. I think we're going to try for the June dinner (we've already got a lot of plans for May so there's no need to add that dinner.

I took pictures ... yum! :thumbsup2

Has anyone here read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies???

:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

I just found out about this book today and it looks like a riot ... just wondered if any of you fine, literate, humor-filled friendies had read it before I order it from Amazon.
