Please tell me the two piece prom dress is on the way out after this year:crazy2:

I am looking at my Facebook feed tonight and I am thinking that these pretty girls really don't need to be wearing bikinis on the top and skirts on the bottom.

They are beautiful young girls that look a bit too provocative for teenagers.

Eh. My daughter wanted one like that, but we couldn't find one when we looked that (a) was a decent price and (b) in a color she wanted. She went with a conventional gown, and I think she looks gorgeous. Beautiful, classic, and not trashy. I have counseled her always to think carefully about what she chooses because if she goes for a fad, when she looks back 20 years from now, she's gonna wonder WTH she was thinking. LOL.

The two pice dresses I have seen had maybe a one or two inch gap between skirt and top. I like them, they look very pretty on. A lot of them are halter top style and show a whole lot less cleavage than traditional prom dresses.

You mean like big hair 80's proms?

I was thinking I rather see a bit of midriff than a lot of cleavage so they don't bother me. I agree the ones I have seen have been pretty.

Thinking about it my wedding dress from almost 15 years ago was a two piece but it didn't show any midriff at all. Lol.

I'd rather have that than the too short/too tight strapless spandex numbers I've seen in many pictures. My dd's junior prom was last night. Most of the girls had cute dresses but there were a few doozies.

Well, I have absolutely nothing against bellies or belly buttons myself.

But, in 99.999999% of the cases those dresses just DO NOT look good or work well.
(Kinda like the big-hair 80's... Ohhhhh I remember the days!!!)

It is kind of a 'thing'.
We can all thank, or blame, Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift.

If it isn't your DD, why do you care? I saw a pic last weekend of a friend's DD in a two piece dress with mid drift showing and honestly it was beautiful!

They're young, they're having fun, and now is their time to wear this trendy stuff.

Geez, lighten up. Who cares?

If going to a beach party, sure it would be cute but for a prom??? No, I don't think it's appropriate. Proms are an occasion to dress up, look sophisticated and show some class. I don't think two piece prom dresses belong at a school function. I am not judging anyone, this is just my opinion. I am sure if my daughter had her heart set on one, I would have gotten it for her

My daughter tried a couple of those on, and I actually liked them, one I loved. She ended up with another style, but the two-pieces only showed an inch or two, so I wouldn't have minded.

You are the one that seems uptight at the moment:thumbsup2

Oh no. I am talking of belly buttons and then well above and well below showing. Not just an inch or two.

And there are ones that look like actual bustiers.

Her midriff was beautiful? Now that I don't understand. She is a teenager. It just seems very provocative.

And I was discussing and giving my opinion. Did you only want comments that agreed with you?
