Belle redesign in parks

I like the new Cinderella. I don't like the new Belle. I could get behind the new dress, but the hair isn't Belle at all. Wonder why they would do that with the hair?
Now, Aurora is in need of a makeover for sure. I can't wait to see what they do.

ugh.... I do not understand why they are doing this. The princesses need to look like they do in their movies. I hate the new blinged out tiaras on all the princess merchandise. The simplicity of their dresses and tiaras were what made them so classically beautiful. :rolleyes2 Wish I knew who to complain to, but I doubt it'd make a difference at this point.

Same here, I wish they would keep them the way they were in their movies, they were simple, elegant and classy!! I just sent them a direct email using a contact I was given through the WDW website. They should get feedback on peoples thoughts and what kids think of her 'new' and 'wonderful' new look for all the Princesses.

I kinda like Cinderella's new look. I think it's the hair that messes me up on Belle. Yes the dress needs to be more yellow, but that could be the sun/camera/monitor who knows. But the hair isn't Belle's hair. Next thing you know Snow White will have long curly hair and no headband. I don't understand how they make so sure that Captain Jack looks like Captain Jack, but then goes and changes the princesses. Is Aurora also changing?

I have dealt with Cinderella's new look, it actually is VERY similar to her dress in the movie, except I feel the hair could have been designed better... They have already curled Aurora's hair in all the promo's and they have added feathers to Pocahontas' hair.

The dress is really pretty and the hair is really pretty but never in a million years would I guess that THAT was Belle. :confused3

Yeo exactly it looks like a very nice inspired Belle outfit, but this is NOT what she was wearing the movie, and if adults have trouble recognising her as Belle then what will little kids think? Even though she is the only Princess in yellow, her appearance has changed to that of Scarlett O'Hara......

Another case of "it's not broke, but Disney fixed it anyways". Yuck!

Exactly!! why does Disney feel they need to fix something that was not broken??

All the merchandise has changed to 'new and improved' Princesses... sparkles, new outfits and by the way they ALL look like they have had plastic surgery and ben nipped and tucked... it looks like Disney just wants the message to be you need to be skinny to be a Princess..... Ariel and Cinderella's faces have definitely been sucked in...

I like the new dress and hair. Much softer and princess-y. Cannot wait to see Aurora. Her dress and hair are just heavy and awful.

the dress should be gold not pastel yellow. seems a little cheap looking to me and i hate the new hairstyle. I really don't like the new cindy dress either but at least it wasn't dreastically changed. Aurora won't change much maybe an update of the gown but unless they can really curl her wig there isn't much they can do.

I absolutely hated the original dress. I thought the design with those "tube" things looked horrendous, and that really awful yellow didn't help it at all; It's really the only princess costume that bothered me. I *really* like the new design, and I'm even ok with the softer yellow. I do wish they had kept the orginal hair/wig design, though.

I wish they had gone with something closer to the yellow dress in the HS stage show though. This is my favorite "real" version.

Sorry for the large photo!

Actually even that gold stage gown has undergone some transformation since then. Here's the current version. The lace on the new version made me think of this one when I first saw it. But this style is far more accurate than the new park gown.

I didn't see this posted already, so here we go.

Belle's new dress and hair was debuted in the parks, similar to how Cindy's was fairly recently.

I was 'meh' about Cindy, but I actually really love the new Belle dress!

Pictures for comparison...

I love the new look!!! The softer yellow is much better. Can't wait to see her and her new castle for ourselves!!!

I don't have an issue with dresses in parks being more detailed or different than the movies. Please remember these are not costumes! These are REAL princesses who went to REAL balls in REAL elaborate gowns. When the animators drew their movies, naturally they had to make the gowns look very simple to keep the animation simple and consistent. ;)

I wonder if some of what doesn't sit right is the... Ummm...models? It looks to me ( I may be way wrong) but it looks like these promo photos use professional models rather than the real CMs who would be friends with princesses in the parks? Real princess friends have hometown beauty and natural poses. These look like pros with their vampy poses and smiles and extra makeup and airbrushing. Is it possible that in person the whole look will click together better?

You could put that new Belle gown on a mannequin and it would still look like it was designed by 4 different people (1 in charge of the bodice, 1 in charge of the lower skirt, 1 in charge of the upper skirt, 1 in charge of the swag) then put together after the fact.

Wow. I miss the yellow already. That is far too washed out.

like it better in ETwB than the promo pictures...only because that room is SO DARK that the light yellow give me some light. HA!

I agree the ribbon in the hair is missing...

And I also agree it is washed out...but like I said...that photographs better on the ole snap n shoot????

I like the new dress better. The only looks TOO much like a cheap costume with the bright yellow and the horrible roses and rope detail. The new dress looks richer and more like... well... a ball gown.

I think the new look needs some editing - it doesn't look like the movie version at all and just has too much going on.
If she was on Project Runway, the judges would be saying it has just too much stuff on it. The lace just is too much and I think the color is too pale.
The hair being own on both sides is not like the movie and competes with the top of the gown.
Here's my quick attempt to edit. The color is not quite the color I would make it, but at least it's all one color (i do like the rose brocade, but don't like the different colors in the original dress and I would get rid of the lace.

I think she should have the rose in her hair like in the movie, but I couldn't draw it in.

Sue, I like that. Taking off that lace brought if back a bit. Especially that arm lace, that's the only part that bugs me.

Thanks.
The lace and all the hair took it over the edge for me. It's just all too much. I think the lace is what makes it look like a Southern Belle style prom dress.
It looks like it was designed by a committee of 6 yr old girls who all had an idea they wanted included whether it went with the other ideas or not.

:thumbsup2
I agree. Except I feel like all the designers were 6 year old girls who really like glitter and lace.
