Being really cheap: a ? about stroller

I have an idea that may or may not work.

Get a laptop metal-strand lock (combi lock with uncutable retractable metal-strand loop). They are selling for about US$15.

Use it as if you're locking a bicycle. Use tie the strand through the wheels' openings and stroller itself so it's impossible to push the stroller.

This way, even if somebody is trying to steal it, they won't be able to push the stroller.

It's quick, it's cheap... unless somebody came in with a huge wire cutter to WDW.

DH had parked our stroller outside M:S and when we exited he couldn't find it. He was convinced that it was stolen! I found a CM and asked them if strollers were ever "re-parked"....seems DH didn't park in the designated stroller parking area, and ours was "relocated" by a CM.

While there definitely are people out there who are low enough to steal a personal stroller, make sure you check with a CM just in case it HAS been re-positioned! Unfortunately, if you don't ask the right question, you may not get the right answer....

That happened to us too. -- We are DisneyLAND masters and for the most part you can leave your stoller anywhere out of the way and no one cares. Appearantly at DW they expect you to find stoller parking The nerve of it all Anyways, we were convinced the stoller was stolen until we went on a few more rides and walked past our stoller sitting nicely in the assigned stroller parking.

We've never had a stroller stolen, nor anything from the stroller taken. On our last trip to DLR I sat for 45 minutes outside of Indiana Jones (waiting to do baby swap) watching a NICE camera sitting in the basket of a stroller. I CLEARLY saw it just walking past it, so I'm sure others did too. Anyways....I was suprised no one even attempted to take it or walk away with the stoller.

I've seen people accidently take the wrong strollers. Especially outside of Playhouse Disney. They figure it out and come back after a second

OP, Are you oppossed to bringing a stroller along on the plane? What about trying to find an inexpensive used stroller through Ebay or the penny saver and brining that. We really like the Graco Light Riders. We have 2 little ones (3 and 4) and bring along one stroller so the tired kid can take a rest. We really enjoy brining along a stroller. -- The cheapy umbrella strollers probably won't work well with your DD, depending on how much she weighs. Even with my 33 pound DD they can be a pain. The more expensive ones work better....but not very practical for a one time trip.

last year my daughter was four and i bought a stroller for 20 bucks at zellers that reclined and she used it constantly. she hadn't had a stroller for a good 2yrs but she never left it except to get on the rides! i will definatley be bringing another back in sept. when we go ( we left it at the airport cause our ride never had enough room for all our stuff)

Here's another option that worked for me.

It might not be yard sale season yet when you are ready to go, but if there are some, check out yards sales for a cheap used one. Our umbrella stroller had long been trashed when we went to Paris last year but I wanted one for my 3 yo DD so we could do the sights with her. I found a far nicer one than what we had used for 2 1/2 years for $3. It was tall (my husband loved it) and actually reclined enough for her to sleep comfortably. My original intent was to just throw it away when we left to come home and I debated about keeping it. We did end up leaving it there.

Hi there fellow Torontonian

We're actually in Ajax, but close enough.

Last January, I went with my then 4 1/2 year old daughter and she amazed me by walking all day every day with no need for a stroller. She was so excited to see all the attractions that the one day that I had rented one, we returned to to GS after about one hour because I found it more trouble with her out of it all the time.

We did travel with her to Europe when she was about 3 years old and bought a Wal Mart Umbrella Stroller. We left it behind on the last day.

We are going again January 31, 2004 -Feb 14, 2004 but this time hubby and 21 months old are coming along. I'll have an umbrella stroller for her that reclines, has a sun and rain cover and a basket - but she's little. My 5 1/2 year old will again be walking.

There's always her father's shoulders and/or an activity where she can rest ie: parade, rides, etc. I am not forseeing a problem (yet).

When are you going??

I am sure that it is somewhere... and I just missed it.
My dd will be 5.5 when we go. She might surprise me, and not need it. I won't know until we go since it is their first experience at WDW.

Geez- we were just there, and rented a stroller. You'd think I'd be more positive about my answer..... .....I want to say that a single was $8/day and a double was $15......then you get your $1 disney dollar *refund* for returning your stroller at the end of the day (when you show your paid receipt)

If you expect to use a stroller more than one or two days it may make more sense to bring your own......BUT....we decided that there was no WAY we'd need a stroller this time - kids were 8/10.5/12 - however my just-turned-8 DD was sooooooo tired that it was just better for everyone involved if I bit the bullet and spent the $$$$ on a stroller!
