You are in a movie theatre. Parents in front of you were there long before you. The movie is about to start. They let their 2 kids stand on the seats between their parents legs. The theatre is absolutely packed. There is no where for you to go. Now you can't see the movie at all. What are you going to do after all you paid to go see the movie too?And frankly that is not possible when you have 3 kids.
It is not my job to make sure your kids can see, just like it is not some other adults job to let my kids in front of them at a parade so that they can see. It is up to me to look after my kids, and as I have stated if we were not able to get a spot where they can see without being on my shoulders then they will go up, they would have already been on my shoulders while we wait as it is the easiest way to contain them in the crowd so if you end up behind me (which would be because you arrived after I did) then I am not taking them down and making them miss it because you want to show up later and expect an unobstructed view.
There is no point in going around in circles anymore on this.
Tried that![]()
LOLYou know, now that I think about it, I'm probably totally wrong on the whole shoulder thing. I think Disney has made their viewpoint pretty clear via the Wilderness Lodge. So, this is how my family is going to watch the next parade. We are going to start practicing tomorrow:

I don't think they are comparable because it is easier to have the kids raised withou blocking your view since the theatres are stadium seating. You are in a movie theatre. Now my quandary ... I have arrived before you because you showed up at the last minute, finding a spot directly behind me. (???) I put my kid up on my shoulders. Your loss. Then the person directly in front of me does the same. Should I be okay with that? I guess so since that person showed up way before me and therefore I should have shown up even earlier. My loss?
(Sorry, couldn't help myself)

About as touching as "I show up last minute and expect children to miss out so that I don't"
I don't think they are comparable because it is easier to have the kids raised withou blocking your view since the theatres are stadium seating.
But again it is the question of the kids also paid to be there and if they can't see another way do you expect them to miss out?
Well, you could just raise the kids to the height of your head when watching the fireworks. So you are saying that the movie theatre scenario with the kids standing on the chairs would be fine for you because it's about the kids and you would just have to sit there and miss the movie?
Both kids should still be able to see as they would be at a similar height like 2 adults one in front of the other
I'm not assuming, I am discussing my experiences.you keep assuming the person showed up last minute and many of us keep saying that has not been our experience
I'm not assuming, I am discussing my experiences.
Note that I was there first, but now I am the one left trying to cope with what someone else has decided is proper.
Fireworks and parades are for standing only. I won't feel one once of regret standing in front of someone who is too lazy to stand up like an adult and decides to sit. It's no wonder 1/3 of the people at WDW these days are riding around in hover-rounds.
I agree. I'm short as well. I remember a few years back when we were in DLR there was no standing for the fireworks. At least not when we were there. CMs were telling everyone to sit down. I remember because there was a couple that refused to sit down and pretended they couldn't hear the CMs and everyone else yelling at them to sit down. I guess sitting isn't the norm though?I stand bc that is what everyone does...but as a short person I wish everyone would stay seated on the ground so viewing could be easier
