Beer at the Parks

Just my opinion but if you need to drink beer to "cope" then you are drinking for the wrong reason and this is a great reason for not selling it in the parks.

Honestly, I DO need a good glass of wine or two in order to relax me while dealing with screaming parents, whiney miserable kids (up way past their bedtime), and strollers being rammed into my ankles. This is something that I don't have to cope with in my every day life. And that alcohol makes it so much easier to deal with people making bad decisions and then forcing them on everyone else in public.

It helps me chill out while people are stressed to the max all around me, therefore I am drinking for all the RIGHT reasons:flower1:

I've never seen that, OP. My husband sure would be happy about it but then I'd be missing out since I don't like beer. I'd want some rum or whiskey instead. Guess I'd have to hit the bars like usual.

I have seen beer venders at AK. Found it to be convenient and quite refreshing. No yelling or sales pitch (it was an easy sale).

I've not seen this at WDW. I've only seen a couple folks who were obviously drunk, and that's about it. Having said that, there could be vendors out there trying to sell their beer, but I didn't witness it.

As a CP I worked as the "beer guy" outside Fantasmic. It was really fun to see the relief on parents faces when they saw me. I was told to never yell out what I was selling but it only a few seconds for someone to find me.

Beer, ice cold especially, goes VERY WELL in the heat and is often the choice of alcoholic drink for many when out in the hot sun.
I find that beer (or any alcohol really) leaves a dry taste in your mouth leading you to want more, it is a diuretic after all.

Even when at a resort where I'm sitting at a pool and sunbathing all day I tend not to drink alcohol until I'm having my evening meal as I find drinking in the hot sun gives me a headache and doesn't hydrate me like water or soda.

Each to their own, we just hadn't seen so many people walking around Disney drinking beer as we had this time and were surprised.

Except for Food & Wine on a Sat night only once in 16 or so WDW vacations have I ever seen a sloppy drunk guest. Also, at Disney prices this would be one expensive hangover.

OP was pointing out the vendors, not the drunk guests.

Seeing how adults drinking a beer is perfectly legal I'm at a loss as to what your issue is

Having vendors calling out for the sale - "Get your ice cold beer" while walking through the parks kind of ruins the atmosphere, IMO.

And there's no vendors walking around any of the parks like a baseball game saying "cold beer here. Get your beer". None that I've seen at Disney or any other parks.

The only time anyone is walking around with alcohol is the vendors before Fantasmic that sell beer/soda, along with the other selling popcorn and kids toys

See the photo above your post for proof?

I don't have a problem with it. It's my vacation and I like to walk around with a drink from time to time.

People yell out stupid stuff even in MK where there's no beer for sale.

Again, the OP was talking about the VENDORS...

I think it's been established that:
1. Walking vendors are selling beer outside of Fantasmic! and at other parks
2. They are not yelling "cold beer"

That is your personal taste. Soda actually is equally dehydrating, so again personal taste.

I don't think folks are necessarily drinking more, I think Disney is offering more options, flavors and places to purchase outside of restaurants.

completely agree.
Having walking vendors help people avoid the long lines at quick services and bars/lounges

And it's been established this was not what happened. A vendor walking around with a tray from what was that, 5 years ago? No, don't count that as proof either.
What vendors they have are in very limited areas. And are well out numbered by the balloon and blinky toy vendors.

don't forget the bubble wand vendors :D

Actually, BOTH beer and soda are some of the worst things one can drink to combat thirst. Whether one finds drinking either of them PLEASANT on a hot day is personal taste. From a physical point of view, neither are good choices and will tend to dehydrate you more quickly.

:confused3

I believe between the poster I responded to and my post we already established that Beer and Soda both dehydrate. They said beer dehydrates so they prefer soda and water. I said that soda is equally dehydrating as beer. I think we both agree water is the best option for hydrating.

AND I stated that drinking those is a matter of taste, not hydration.
