beer at MK

How did what was supposed to be a fun thread turn into yet another alcohol vs. no alcohol in the MK debate? :sad2: I'm sure the OP didn't really think his or her thread would be exactly what Disney needed to convince them they should add alcohol in mass to MK & the suggestions here would show up in the restaurants & booths in a matter of a few short months, just because DISers suggested it. I read the OP as a chance for people to use their creative imaginations & have a little fun with the thread. It seems to me most people both for & against alcohol in the MK need to relax a bit on the topic. Maybe, the OP can let us know, if he/she was trying to have a little lighthearted fun or demand that Disney add alcohol throughout MK. My guess is it was supposed to be a fun, which it could have been, if people here didn't take everything concerning Disney & apparently alcohol so seriously. :rolleyes2

I don't see the problem here. I did think the OP was having a little fun, and I enjoyed the post, but I also see a pretty interesting discussion taking place that has not reached the "DEBATE" stage that turns respectful discussions into arguments.

I really like your ideas - they're very creative, but I think I can do without alcohol at MK. And believe me - I love a good beer or five.

I love EPCOT and drinking around the world (or trying to.) I really enjoyed the Candy Cane Kah-lada at DHS... I've even had a beer at BOG... but beer at MK and in the park would seem off. Something bothers me about watching the parade on Main Street alongside someone drinking a beer. It doesn't feel right.

Nancy we often agree, but not on this one.....I have Walt's unwavering opinion which he never changed in all the years he was alive, regarding alcohol in the MK at DLR and WDW.

It is nor logical to just assume he would change his mind.

I really feel the nature and magic of the parks would change it they did, at.least beyond the BOG.

AKK

We do often agree, don't we?

It's okay AKK, I honestly have no issue with a dry MK, but I also have no problem admitting that in December, after a long day in the park with my friend who absolutely detests the parks, if I can score an ADR for BOG for my family and her two little girls.....I may turn into THAT one who is in need of a glass of wine....as will she! LOL!!!!!

I agree the posts haven't been disrespectful. What they have been is practically a carbon copy of all the other threads on the topic. I haven't seen anyone's opinion change yet. Personally, I was disappointed to see what I thought would be a fun thread quickly become the same old discussion by largely the same people. No offense to those people, really. I just think it should be possible to have a lighthearted thread without it becoming a discussion on alcohol vs. no alcohol. That wasn't what this thread was about. Basically, it went OT after the first couple posts.

If Walt saw how many people bring alcohol into the MK on a daily basis, he would allow it to be sold there immediately. Tons of people go everyday with hidden flasks or vodka in their water bottles. I would love to see beer in the MK as I'm a local who spends the majority of my time in that park and like to enjoy a nice cold beer when its 115 out with the heat index. I don't think you would see staggering drunks at all. Heck, I go to Food and Wine/Flower and Garden every single weekend it runs and I've seen someone completely wasted a total of three times. That's three out of probably 500 plus visits. I don't think there's a need for stands everywhere. But some nice walk in pub/speakeasy/tavern style places would be a nice addition.

Definitely agree! And want to make sure people arent hammered and killing the vibe of MK? Put drinks in a fancy land themed mug/cup that you can keep as a souvineere and charge a nice premium!

But AKK, we know that this was how he felt years ago. We do not know how the years that have passed would have impacted his decision. People do make changes in their mindsets, so unless we have a crystal ball, we just cannot know for sure.

Now, when you say you like the magical feeling that MK has and you do not want any potentially destructive influences to change that...well this is an argument I can respect.
Exactly. I can count numerous opinions of my own that have changed over the years. Even opinions that I was sure would never change.

Walt was all about making money. And when he saw how much money that could be made selling alcohol, he very well could have changed his mind.

Like another poster, I have never seen anyone stumbling around.
