Flying out from LGW next year on our holiday. Have concluded that it's easiest to stay the night before. Will need an evening meal and breakfast.

Prices look like this:

Courtyard - £68
Hilton - £86 (inc breakfast)
Premier Inn North Terminal - £86 (inc dinner and breakfast)

No major luggage so distance not an issue. No kids. Arriving by train.

I'm thinking Premier Inn, but feedback welcome!

In October I stayed in the Sofitel in Gatwick (North). It was a little stuffy and decided to get a sandwich/pasta/fruit for dinner from the M&S in the terminal and breakfast from a restaurant which I want to call Joe's. The room was something like £100 which I didn't think was so bad.

The hotel has it's own entrance to the north terminal so no long walks etc, the journey to the South terminal was VERY easy, the train is right next to where the hotel entrance is.

Once we got through security we were only waiting 30 minutes before we were boarding the flight. In terms of stress, there was none. I was trying to reduce the stress for my other half who isn't a great flyer and it worked.

There was a premier inn across the road from the Sofitel, I have had a bad experience with a travel lodge which is the same sort of class so I personally would go for a slightly more expensive but better nights sleep option.

I know the Sofitel isn't on your list but maybe worth adding.

Thanks anyway. It's £103 for room only, so it won't make the list - not paying that much for one night in an airport hotel!

Have done Travelodge before and sworn never again - but have found Premier Inn to be consistently of a very good standard for the price. Honestly, you cannot compare the two. One is essentially a hostel, the other a very decent, if a little homogenous, hotel chain.

We always stay in the Hilton and use somewhere in the airport for dinner. We book. Lounge in the terminal and have breakfast there.

I have booked the Premier Inn at North Terminal for our LGW stay in March, after reading good reviews. It's literally right outside the entrance to the North Terminal.

We've booked premier inn for may 2014. For us it's fine. Rooms are clean, staff are nice and their restaurants are ok. Yes they're basic but they're consistent. We'd always opt for premier inn where possible for a stop over.

Counting down to 14th May!

For us it would be the hilton at that price, straight off the train and a couple of minutes walk and your there, departure day we usually stay in the room until around 90 min before the flight (have done 60 min before now but DH gets stressed out and thinks we're going to miss the flight. lol) You can catch the monorail to the north terminal for dinner.

Looks like the Hilton or the Premier Inn then. It's cheaper to book the Hilton with breakfast than without, but cheaper overall to book the Premier Inn. We won't get there until late-ish the night before our flight so quite tempted to do it all at the Premier...:confused3

We stayed in the Premier Inn in Sept and couldnt fault it. Clean, comfy beds and friendly staff. Breakfast was the standard buffet but all tasty. We had the deal with dinner too and that was also good. Restaurant is right next to hotel lobby so that was handy for us.

We love the hilton, but find its usually pretty pricey for us in a family room, and im not a fan of their restaurant for dinner (too expensive)

The courtyards a nice hotel too, and if its not raining its only a few mins walk to the terminal.

We have just booked the premier inn for the night before our flight, never stayed before but for £29 I can't complain.

Found a deal, got Premier Inn - dinner bed and breakfast for £74 for the two of us. Can't complain!

Paid £30 for premier inn. Stayed there once before and only fault was the craziness of reception/pub

Thanks for the responses - quite happy with the Premier Inn at that price (given that breakfast and dinner at the airport would run to at least £20 each, £40 total - probably more) and means we're not faffing with finding somewhere to eat. Reviews are better than the Hilton anyway :lmao:

we stayed at the Premier Inn North terminal in September and will definitely go back again. It was clean, comfortable, the staff were lovely and the food good. It was a quick walk across the road and straight into the terminal.

Another vote for premier inn, we stayed there on 19th nov and thought it was good, we ate in the terminal and was litrally walk across the road, we shall be booking for next year
