Bedrest

At my last Dr's appt I found out that my DS's shoulders got stuck during delivery (not sure why I did not know this for 2 years--I knew I was having a hard time I just did not know why), and that this baby would be induced at 38 weeks (2 weeks from tomorrow). Well I went to my appointment today and my blood pressure was real high and there was a little protein in my urine. The Dr I saw today did not seem real interested in inducing (I saw the midwife last time and she knows I would rather not have a C-section if I can avoid it--I think the Dr would be just as happy doing a C-section at 40 weeks). The Dr sent me to the hospital and everything ended up being fine there, so they sent me home. I was really happy until she said I was now on bedrest until the end of my pregnancy. So now I am on bedrest and I might have to wait until 40 weeks to have the baby. I should see the midwife next week, hopefully she will schedule my induction then. I am having a ton of contractions so the end is in sight.

I feel bad for my DS, who will really hate being stuck in the house with me for the next couple of weeks. Thank goodness he is very sweet and easy going!!.

I will probably be doing a lot of DISing in the next couple of weeks (there is a golden lining to everything:D )

Pixie Dust coming to you::yes:: Hey, no time like the present to be a princess, right? Take advantage. Relax and Dis till your hearts content.;)

:( Yucky. Keeping you in my thoughts. Nothing is scarier to me than pre eclampsia. SO rest rest rest! Do some DISing and catch up on some soaps ;) Here's to an easy labor!

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Get lots of rest and let everyone pamper you. You will be spending lots of time "pampering" your new little one soon. Sending PD your way for a speedy and comfortable delivery (is there any such thing?) and a healthy baby.

Christy, I am sorry about you being on bed rest. Take advantage of it if you can. Wishing you all the best during the remainder of your pregancy :)

Christy,

You poor thing! I was on bedrest until week 36, then the Dr turned me loose :). Enjoy the DIS and take care of yourself and your baby.

I was put on bed rest at 33 weeks due to high blood pressure and was going to be induced at 38 weeks, but DS decided to arrive at 36 weeks! I tried my best to enjoy bed rest like everyone on the DIS told me to do...especially catching up on my sleep. :)

I hope your bedrest weeks fly by...I know the days can get a bit long. Good luck! Hope you have an easy delivery.

I was in (almost) your exact situation with DS2 a couple of years ago...around week 36 my blood pressure rose, has swelling, and a trace of protein in my urine. The doctor did an ultrasound and determined Joshua was already over 8 pounds...he guessed I would have him in week 38, but he put me on bedrest....week 38 came and went and since I was on bedrest the B/P went down so the docs weren't as concerned anymore. Just relax, organize some drawers or something like that (you know-some task you always intend to do, but don't get around to), and DIS often!

I had to be put on bed rest with both my pregnancies. For som reason I just have contractions early. With DD it was at 34 weeks and she arrived at 37 almost 38 weeks. With DS it was at 33 weeks and he arrived at 35 weeks. It wasn't that bad the first time. The second time was really hard with a 5yo and I was running my own business at the time! I know it really stinks but whatever is best for you and your baby is what counts. Take care of the 2 of you and good luck. I will send pixie dust your way!!!:goodvibes

Been there done that....sending lots of good thoughts your way. If your bored I could come visit ya:wave2: I'm right down the road in Altamonte:wave2:

Hang in there, it's almost over. :)

Take it easy the next couple of weeks. The baby will be here before you know it and then you won't have any time for relaxation.

When I was pregnant with DS9, I started having problems at 28 weeks. By 30 weeks, I was hospitalized -- on complete bedrest -- with severe pre-eclampsia. The doctors were amazed by how long I held out before progressing into HELPP at 34 weeks. If anything doesn't feel right or you start with abdominal pain, please call your doctor right away.

Take care.

So sorry that you have to be on bedrest now but please do as your doctor says. Stay in bed and take care of yourself and that baby.

I wish a doctor would tell me to get bed rest, without the being pregnant thing

Thank you all for the thoughts. I am not real worried about my (physical) health, but my mental health is another story. I am not sure how long DS can stand being stuck inside without making me crazy. I have tried to explain it to him and so far he has been really sweet. When we woke up this morning he said "Hi Mom, mommy sick". I really love this kid!! I am still having a lot of contractions today so maybe this will be the week (which means I have to throw the 0-3 month clothes in the washing machine--my mom is already planning on coming over to hang them all up for me).

Thanks again for all the kind thoughts!
Christy
