So there is tons of chatter here and around other Disney forums about the a supposedly new system called X-Pass. Basically it's a way to "pre schedule" your ride times, virtually eliminating long wait times, you will also be able to pre schedule meet and greets and score prime viewing spots at parades and night time show.

Now there are a lot of rumors (and I re-emphasize, no one knows any thing offically, other than it is coming) about whether it will be offered as a perk to Deluxe resorts or whether it will be sold as an additonal fee.

Here is a link about the attractions and experiences you may get with the new X-pass.

So my question is would this feature be enough to
1) induce you to move up to a deluxe or
2) shell out extra money per ticket to get it?

I want to re-emphasize that these are very sketchy reports and no one at disney as even offically said there will be an X-PASS.

I think it is going to depend on the final details and the situation I am in.

We are FL Res AP holders. If we are heading there for a weekend or a day, then absolutely not. On the other hand, if I had family visiting from out of town and this may be their only trip for quite a while, then I may look into it. Depending on the price, we may exhange a dinner for the add on or cut something else out to upgrade to a deluxe. It wouldn't affect my overall budget though. I would find an exchange.

Nope, I am a scheduler, but that's just nuts. I want our trip to be spontanieous too, and if everything was already scheduled it'd drive me crazy.

Plus we go in the off seasons, often times the fast pass machines aren't even open.

I would have to know more details once they roll it out. But yes, I would consider paying for it or staying deluxe in order to get it. I've paid extra for E-ticket nights, Wishes dessert parties and MVMCP in the past. For the right price, I would consider the XPass.

Nope, we love Disney and go at least every other year (except last year, when I went three times!) BUT we definitely can't afford to stay deluxe. we've always taken full advantage of fast pass, BUT I can't see paying for them either.
If this goes forward, it looks like our WDW trips may be curtailed or eliminated.:sad2:

Ok... Flame suit on.... I have been saying for years that Disney should give you something extra for staying Deluxe, We pay lots of money for these rooms, and I'm not saying that everyone should not be treated equal in Disney, but sorry the world is not fair, and if you can afford to stay deluxe or you choose to save up and stay deluxe you should get something extra for the additional $$ - Universal has it for their hotels (and YES I know, that is only 3 hotels and disney has way more) but it's an extra perk for staying there.

I hope disney does do this.

We already stay in a deluxe resort but it is just way to early to answer these questions. That's are just too many unknown variables. Mainly the cost and the booking procedures. I prefer to be spontaneous but booking an attraction or two a day ahead of time might create MORE time for spontaneity.

I would pay extra depending on the cost. We already stay deluxe when we want so that's not a variable. The part that worries me is the rumor of having to preschedule everything. THAT PART I am not on board with.:sad2:

I guess it would really depend on how it all pans out and what advantage the Xpass truly offers in the end. And what kind of expense it really adds. If it is a deluxe perk - will it only be offered to concierge guests? Or will you have to pay more on top of a deluxe stay? Will your ride "appointments" be flexible, or will they be set in stone? How many passes will be offered - will it get to the point that there are no "great" spots available for parades and shows for non Xpass guests?

I'm not thrilled with the idea of choosing fastpasses times in advance ... but we do tend to visit during really busy times, so it could be handy. Now, if Xpass offered you the ability to get instant faspasses as the mood struck - I would be all over that!!!

I will really have to see how it works out before I know if it is something I would be willing to pay extra for ...

We've stayed deluxe/DVC about half our trips...and I'd say no.

As I've said before when the subject comes up, if XPass is something that eventually is implemented with the little known out there, our vacation $$ will be going elsewhere (and we're 2-4 times a year guests).

Can I ask what the reasons are that you would stop vacationing there? Do you have a feeling it will make the lines longer for the non-xpass guests? I dont agree or disagree with you, just curious what your concerns are. Personally I HATE the idea of everything being so scheduled.

I don't know..we usually go at slow times and don't have big waits. What I really don't like is the over scheduling this might cause, which I would hate. I'm a planner but I dpn't want to be on a strict schedule at the parks.

I hate the idea of everything being so scheduled, too. :) The little bit of planning I do now is stressful enough. I have no desire to add in scheduling ride times.

The whole idea is ridiculous to me. :confused3

We are FastPass users and use it to our advantage, but if it comes to having to schedule rides before we even leave home, no thank you.

I don't see this as a reason to vacation elsewhere. :confused3

It's not as if you would have to purchase the XPass or even if you did, you would not have to schedule every minute of every day. To me, it sounds like a way to ensure that you will get a chance to ride TSM or any other popular attraction that runs out of FP early in the day.

A lot will depend on how it is implemented because if taking full advantage requires pre-planning rides and shows months in advance it won't work for us. We don't have our travel dates set in time to make the most of the ADR system and with too long a window this could be the same - scrambling for the leftovers because we can't know 6 months in advance exactly when we'll be able to get away.

Something else that will make a difference is how this effects the current FP system and standby waits. If it becomes all but essential to enjoyable touring and/or replaces free Fastpass, we'll drastically cut down on how often we go but might book deluxe rather than two moderate rooms when we do. We're a family of 5 that decided the values just aren't a good fit for whole-family trips, and the price difference between two moderate rooms and a sleeps-5 deluxe isn't very substantial (~$20/night in value season) so if Xpass is in fact going to be a deluxe perk it would be a good reason to bump up a level. I doubt we would spring for it as a ticket add on. One of the rumors put pricing at $80pp and an extra $400 on top of the $1400 that tickets already cost for my family is a deal-breaker.

My biggest concern with this is how much, if any, flexibility will be left by the time they're done adding the ability to pre-reserve everything short of bathroom stalls. We often change plans on the fly and the idea of not being able to sit down to watch Off Kilter on the spur of the moment because we have reserved ride times to get to makes Disney World a much less desirable destination in my mind. Someone else put it very well on the big thread on the theme parks board - as SAHM to three kids and chauffeur to their activities and appointments, my day-to-day life is watching the clock and keeping track of who needs to be where when. I don't want to be doing that on vacation.

The problem is that we don't know how it will work. At best, it seems like FPs will become harder to get as the Xpass system books a percentage before the park even opens, OR standby lines get longer because a percentage of ride capacity is set aside for the Xpass system in addition to FP. At worst, well... Universal used to offer a free FP type system that has been entirely replaced by paid options, so the choice may ultimately be only Xpass or standby. And I think that's where the "I'd vacation elsewhere" feelings come in - at the prospect of either paying for the ability to micro-manage your vacation days in advance or being stuck in the 90 minute standby line for TSM.
